Another thing I just remembered, as I was sitting her discussing last night's episode with a girl here at work was, that when Nicole asked Mayte, "Do you have a problem with abortion Mayte?" Mayte answered "No"- WTF? I could understand if she were taking a strong stance against abortion, as many people do, but she's not even against it! So what the fuck was she acting so strangely about if she's not even against it per se? WTF? This even makes more of no kind of sense! And Jessica did not cavalierly have an abortion, she was 17, had no money and her young boyfriend took her to a back alley clinic and she seems to be regretful of it now so - WTF? AND she had texted Mayte to discuss it with her and Mayte didn't respond! All the more reason it's looking like she's just trying to make a t.v. show...... don't like it........

on another note, she's making me understand that old saying, "Show me a beautiful woman and I'll show you a man who's sick of her"

Thank you because this is all it is. Folks on here say that Mayte is an actress right? Well couldn't this all be an act for the cameras (to get their 2nd season as you stated)?

If she was acting, that was terrible because the overwhelming concensus is "what the f just happened here". It made no sense. Did you see the way she smacked the glasses off the table? It was so awkward looking, like she didn't know how to properly throw a "staged" temper tantrum. I never bought into Mayte's overly sweet persona. She needs to just be real - and last night was not real even if it was the flipside of what she's used to portraying. It was too over-the-top and awkward.

One thing I found interesting was that she called Jessica passive-aggressive...sounds like the pot calling the kettle... hmm

Oh I agree...definitely bad acting. The whole passive agressive comment she was trying to throw at Jessica just went over my head because at that point, I just thought it had all become fake. I guess VH1 has now achieved it's goal with this show. confused

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

That's what I mean when I said she was not making any sense. About Jessica, her being so young when the abortion took place, shouldn't be held against her, and just to know she ended up getting a back alley one, one would think Mayte would understand. This is what doesn't make sense to be angry at someone who was very young, at the time when this happened, and surviving having an unsafe, back alley one, she should be forgiven for that. I know Jessica could have 'diarrhea of the mouth' at times, but she did make an effort to reach out to Mayte behind the scenes to try to find time to speak with her about it, but Mayte refused, so it seems this whole thing was staged, and when Jessica tried to apologize, Mayte's plan to use Jessica's abortion to play into it, sort of backfired. It basically came off like she was blaming Jessica for the loss of her child. Made no sense whatsoever, and her crying came off like 'crocodile tears'. The whole scene was weird, and makes Mayte's actions in that scene very questionable. If she was doing an 'improv' scene in an acting class, she would have failed.

Let's not forget that during one of her interviews about the 'Hollywood Exes' she was asked if she was worried about any negative comments from viewers, and she basically responded by saying something like, (paraphrasing) that she didn't mind, because even if it's negative comments, as long as people are talking about you it keeps you relevant and your name out there. So I guess with this last episode, she accomplished her goal. I'll have to look around for that interview where I read that.

Can't wait to read what orger 'Ottensen' has to say about that episode. coffee

Well yeah it was definitely improv. lol In later episodes, it will most likely play out that Mayte will find out that Jessica's abortion happened when she was a teen AND the fact that Jessica has suffered MISCARRIAGES as a result as well. This is probably when we will see the "apology" from Mayte happen (along with some fake tears). rolleyes

lol Or maybe in Season 2, Mayte and Jessica will have a discussion on why Jessica thought it was okay to let the cockroach live but didn't mind if the cockroach's cousin, the lobster, is boiled to death.

I'll tell you one thing though, that scene with Mayte got viewers' attention because of the strangeness (if such a term exists) of it. It was like that scene in 'Eve's Bayou' when actress Jurnee Smollet's character, (who played one of Samuel Jackson's daughters in that movie), suddenly went into 'evil mode' , when she was complaining about her sister taking too long in the bathroom, then turned on her mother in the movie. lol

I'm starting to feel guilty for getting suckered into watching this show. lol

Last night's episode was interesting. But I think some of it (as all reality shows are) was scripted.

I thought Jessica's abortion took place in adulthood, not when she was 17. Plus Mayte and Jessica (from what I've heard) were cool w/ one another off camera.

So yes this show is fake, but it is entertaining.

I agree.

Do you notice Mayte always has the "least" to say? She can't talk about Prince or anything to do with their relationship, and she does not appear to have ever come into her own. She has only seen herself as being the wife, or ex wife of Prince, without really moving on. She just hasn't moved on. Perhaps the show is forcing her to conjure up a painful experience she managed to bury. I do think that episode with Jessica was scripted because quite frankly, although she is a sweet lady and likeable, she has the least to offer and comes off as the most boring of the group. The producers are trying to carve a niche for her but that one makes her look like a disturbed person. She does need therapy. She is still mourning her losses but does not know how to cope with it. She needs therapy for not only losing her babies, but being married to Prince! Although I love him as an artist, I can tell he can be a piece of work. I do NOT like Mayte's mother either, she pushed her daughter on Prince to use him, now is coming out in public and saying those things.

Mayte's agent told Mayte to amp things up so that Mayte could be considered for season 2...

before this people were saying how BORING Mayte is... so to me its all "Hollywood" drama to garner interest and make people not forget her, because seriously during this whole season people are still like "Mayte who?".

Now they can say "Oh, Mayte the crazy glass thrower... yeah, she's hot when she's mad!"

Heck, she needed to do that shit to Mani when Mani busted on her like "Bitch ya better hurry up with ya old ass eggs". Mayte's a mess (when she needs to be).

lol

Much respect to all the Mothers and women who want to be Mothers. Much love to those who can't conceive at all and those who are trying and find they are having issues beyond their control. With that said I want to address an issue that many women over the age of 35 may find themselves confronting..."The Maturnal Clock". Just like Mother Instinct it is a very powerful force that many of us have felt or will feel. Some women do not, but for those of us that feel or have felt that burning desire from deep within so strong...we know there is absolutely nothing like it. You have to feel it to know it. You know that clock is running out and everytime you see a Mother with a child that ticking gets louder. You either find yourself wanting to engage with the child which you usually do and automatically you go into how much you want a baby and how sweet/cute/adorable this baby is with the Mom/Dad. Or if you are unable to engage you automatically feel happy and sad at the same time...emotions run amock. There are times when you will breakdown at the mention of someone else you know who has just had a baby. This is usually followed by a couple of good tear jerking sessions usually alone so you can cry "why not me...why can't I have a baby!"Sadly this has been only part of what Mayte has been going through for the last 15 years. Now put all that I mentioned above and couple it with her first baby and the miscarrage.

With that said I can understand some of what Mayte is going through. I only experienced "Ye' Ole Ticking Clock" for 7 years until I had my baby. It is miserable and many many women experience it everyday. What hurts the most is having someone suggest adoption when the urge and burning desire you live with daily is coming from within your womb where you know your baby should be. Many of you may have never experienced this but it does exist...not sure if it is a syndrome or has been identified in any way but it happens. So please until Mayte verbally says she has exhausted all efforts to have what her heart/womb desires please don't suggest adoption. It is like a bad word until the person is ready.

However, IMHO Mayte's behavior in eppy 8 was over the top. It may have been her need to have someone understand her and her situation, If you remember when Mayte brought it up the 1st time Sherree said wanted to change the subject. That indicates that the mentioning of Mayte's situation is too frequent or she feels she needs to get a handle on it before it cause her more emotional damage. Mayte brought it back up again. This to me was her way of needing and getting support and confirmation from her girls to stick it to Jessica about the abortion. Unfortunately, they gave her backup. That was all she needed (backup) so she ranted her (there is probably more to her temper) issues and admitted she was angry. She wasn't angry at Jessica. I think she is angry because of her situation. How would you feel if you were the only one on that show who does not have a child? Not once has any of her "friends" (really??) spoke to her about how counseling went for her, if she had counseling or even if she was continuing with therapy being that it has been 15 years. With all due repect and love...that is long time for Mayte to suffer without having some kind of outlet to support her. If she had that support I really do not believe that Jessica having had an abortion would not have upset her that much.IMHO this show is not the vehicle for her...period. I just hope that this experience with the show coupled with any other issues she maybe facing does not cause further damage to her emotions.

I think that is the biggest problem, Mayte cannot open up properly about her life,I cannot imagine what it must be like to carry so much around from such a young age too! I think she needs to get it out either through music ( Prince does) or actual break whatever agreement keeps her quiet, really how long can it be valid/enforced for, seriously her sanity is at stake?! I wonder how much the producers know they can reveal about Prince and Mayte before they risk being sued?

You have expressed some deep sentiments beautifully and I am touched... I am glad you conquered your struggle and added some food for thought to this discussion... I think you are right, Mayte needs therapy.

I am confused about having compassion for Mayte because she allowed Manuela to talk to her in such an insensitive way about not having a baby yet and Mayte said NOTHING. She just grinned and beared through it and she should have done the same here. Jessica never attacked her, even reportedly reached out to Mayte.

IMHO Mani deserved the glass thrown at her and not Jessica, Mayte had no right judging Jessica for her choice.

IMHO...

If you can not handle hearing some one else's struggle, then be polite and say, "Hey, you are my girl, but I am not in a place to hear about your pain nor am I in a place to support you."

This way, your friend will know not to share of her own personal loss with someone who just doesn't give a fuck about her pain because of her choice to terminate a pergnancy.

I dunno.... I could never expect my friend to listen to my struggles if I don't want to hear about her own struggles. Once Jessica caught on that Mayte didn't care about her feelings she just called Mayte crazy.

babies aside, Mayte is not a good friend to Jessica if she is mad at Jessica instead of supporting her.

twocents

Heck, why the hell are Mayte and Mani friends again? whofarted

Once Jessica caught on that Mayte didn't care about her feelings she just called Mayte crazy.

babies aside, Mayte is not a good friend to Jessica if she is mad at Jessica instead of supporting her.

twocents

Heck, why the hell are Mayte and Mani friends again? whofarted

Damn good point here. Then again the whole "Mani and Mayte" friendship could just be a farce for the show. If Mayte ever left the show, we all know who'll be stepping in. spit

Mani: "Let me show these bitches how it's supposed done."

[Edited 8/9/12 19:15pm]

---Agree-Agree

I agree with the above statements. thumbs up!

I am Not blaming all of her issues on Prince. no no no! BUT you can NOT disagree that

Mayte cannot open up and express how she TRULY feels about her pain and we have

an idea why. She is the ONLy one at this point that has Not express how

Prince proposed to her, it's sad that you can watch her listen to others

talk about their past EXperiences and she Must sit and be zipped and wall

Nicole is not saying much either and we all know that they don't have to put

all their personal business on national television, but if you can't say much

on a reality show then you should not try to get yourself on this type of

show that is pure nonsense. If these characters were not married to celebrities,

we know all of those women wouldn't be able to keep their mouth shut about

their ex-husbands. blahblah blahblah blahblah chatterbox

I also see that Andrea likes to stirthepot at times, while she sits back with her

mouth wide open putting on a act as if she cannot believe what is

happening. eek <<---her facial expression ------> she's actually lol at the situation.

It's like watching a scripted wrestling match,

They are hating each other in the ring, but in the dressing

room they are eating, drinking, laughing and rehearsing together.

The real world? --NOT!!!

No, she's not a good girl but she's doesn't strike me as a tough girl either. She's just vanilla.

falloff @ the glass

Honey, I already know Mayte is not about to hand out any beat downs. lol I was trying to be a lttle sacrcastic with what I said above. giggle She looked like she was hesitant to do anything from the beginning....NOT because she was trying to keep her cool but because she knew it was all scripted and that shit would come off looking like a joke. lol

Yup, we're on the same page cuz I can't see her handing out any beat downs either. If she was that hot headed, I doubt she would have tolerated Prince's ways, cheatin' and otherwise.

Mayte made it perfectly clear before Hollywood Exes aired, that viewers will not hear any 'personal' information about her relationship with her ex, because she stated she is going to respect that part of her and her ex-husband's privacy in that regard. So if that is why some viewers are watching the show hoping that she reveals something 'that personal', don't expect it to happen, as this has been made clear in most of the articles by people who interviewed her as well, in reference to her role on the show. She said her role on the show is not about him, but to let viewers see how she is moving on with her life, since her relationships with her Exes. Of course every now and then the Ladies will share a tidbit about their lifestyle with their exes, but they don't reveal anything 'too personal'.

She also said the show is about how she is handling/moving on from former relationships to the present, and will give viewers insight on how she is looking for love, her feelings about wanting to have a child, and seeking a career in acting. That's just about it, and I guess 'creation of drama' in these Reality shows is becoming very common, to keep the shows interesting. lol

Valid point naffi and I agree with you 2elijah. All reality shows are scripted in some kind of way. I've never lost a child but I can understand her anger as to when people think that having an abortion is just no big deal. Yep she did say she wasn't against it but when you just talk about it as a joke and then care more about a freaking cockroach than a human being then that is when you take it too far. And Jessica is the last person to say that someone is crazy!

I don't get how some of you don't get what Mayte was pissed off at Jessica about.

She stated it clearly that she wasn't upset that she had an abortion, it's her life, she can do what she wants. But she was upset at the way she flaunted it around like if human life had no meaning, when Jessica knew that Mayte was insanely desperate to have one. That was a pretty low move.

So Jessica reached out, and some of you criticize Mayte. None of you know what the text said and how insensitive or uncaring it actually could have come across. Mayte had every right to be pissed off at her and not want to deal with the situation at the time. Jessica, as cool as she can be, can be fucking shady and ingenuious. Which is exactly as she came across at the table with her half hearted bullshit apologies. "Im sorry, whatever, get over it, fuck you" basically. That's not a real apology, adding to that the suggestion that she should leave. And meanwhile none of the girls said anything to defend Mayte. I think anybody would be frustrated to not be acknowledged emotionally when speaking out.

give her some breathing space. If you beat her down for trying to express it, she may never be able to fully embrace it.

with just a bit of compassion and empthay maybe she can exhale and finally get it all out of her system.

Umm, these episodes were taped months ago, so I don't think anyone was saying "Mayte who"...being that they hadn't aired yet. neutral

hmm When did Jessica do this? I don't remember the abortion being mentioned until Drea brought it up. It doesn't seem like Jessica flaunted having an abortion shrug

Also, you don't know what the text said either. Who said it was insensitive or uncaring? rolleyes It was done off camera and it's a good chance that Jessica is not as "asshole-ish" off screen as she is on.

It really seems as though this was all contrived by the producers. Mayte looked very uncomfortable throwing that glass. It just looked too fake, though her pain may in fact be real and the producers played off of that. However, whatever Jessica did with her body has nothing to do with Mayte and the issues she's had. We don't know anything about the circumstances surrounding Jessica's abortion.

Exactly,

Mayte answered Nicole that she ONLY was OK with women having abortions for medical reasons o and that Jessica's choice to ternimate was NOT OK. Jessica should have been sensitive to Mayte's feelings about not being a mother and should have not mentioned her struggle to Mayte and the group.

This made Jessica get on INSTANT FU mode to Mayte and tossed all compassion for Mayte out the window since Mayte attacked her choice.

What Mayte doesn't get is that there is great pain asscociated with killing a baby and many women cover it up by acting as if it doesn't matter as a shield to hide the massive guilt and shame.

Jessica was UBER sensitive about her abortion and it was clear when she blew up at Sheree and STAYED mad as hell. Mayte should have caught that mess coming a mile away.

You catch Jessica calling the bible FAKE to Sheree's face in that supposed "peace offering lunch date". Jessica is still pissed.... Sheree don't give a damn either. lol

Mayte is locked on stupid if she's ignoring the mess of emotions coming from Jessica.

Makes sense now why Jessica over-compensates by saving roaches and not eating lamb/veal. disbelief

Hurt feelings and pain is all over the place when dealing with loss or a baby or termination. Eggshells are everywhere and its a mind field of pain and hurt ready to blow up and make a mess.

No one is diminshing Mayte's pain for her loss and current struggle, we all understand it. No need for explanation either, because like Mayte said... we ALL have issues and Mayte is grown and shouldda caught on that Jessica is NOT OK. Mayte should not let her own pain guide her in dealing with some body's elses mess. Mayte dove into that mess head first.

Seriously, Mayte should have expected that reaction. So for me its a scripted reaction to a Hollywood meltdown.

lol Makes for good TV though.

Yes, I saw that Mayte said she wasn't going to give details, but isn't the point of the show to be moving from their previous lives/mistakes etc, and if you cannot share what you have experienced a) how can you learn and b) what is the point of a group experience if you are not really participating? To keep the viewers there the producer have to create something if you aren't seen to be pulling your weight.
One can only hope the in the remaining episodes. Mayte decides to open her own dance school or be partners with Andrea, move away from her mother, or even just do something to show she has progressed from where she started, otherwise why would you include her in the next series because as much as these shows are scripted, the writers still need something to start from.
