Jesse Johnson leaving the O7 Just posted on his Facebook:
"I don't really think I'll be performing with the Original any more! We simple don't see eye to eye on anything. Love the guys, but I feel in my heart it's "Time" to walk away while we're all still friends. Peace be with you all and them all. PeaceLove Jesse Johnson"

Can't say it surprises me. Of what I've seen of their recent TV appearances, he doesn't look like he's into it.

Not surprised. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

The Original 6ven! We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Hmm...perhaps fed up of the band getting controlled by Prince via cease and desists and the band not wanting to stand up to P and rock the boat....so he thought 'f*** this, i'm my own man'.

Kinda comes off childish from that response. Space for sale...

Sounds more like there may be some ego issues going on in the group.
I could see the titles of their next album for Jesse
"C'mon Bro, what the problem be?" "Come back Jesse, come back" "There's no Us without You" "What we could've, should've, would've been"' "My Ego's bigger than Yours" "Why'd you leave us hangin' like that?

I'm glad I saw their show when I did. Too bad. Jesse gave a nice set, he was tearing it up.

Too bad. If I ever tried to catch them performing it would have been mainly for Jesse.
Waits to see how this is turned into P's doing even though he has no ties with the operations of the O7 group or the Condensate album.

Sadly, if this is true, that is the end of the Original 7ven. They had an amazing album and I was really looking forward to the tour.
Jesse always seemed distant and was the first to be out of the group during the last reunion. The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. Not in the interviews. He seemed like he wanted to hog all the attention when, sorry for him but, it's Morris' show with a lil extra interest in Jimmy and Terry from the reporters yet he came off like he wanted all the attention. just my two cents. Space for sale...

You would think he could have figured out if he really wanted to reunite with them before the album came out, instead of walking away leaving them hanging like that. I guess we will have to see who the replacment will be if any at this point. If he's stating that they "...can't seem to see eye to eye on anything", then there was trouble among them long before their album came out. [Edited 12/15/11 11:35am]

^ Maybe it's the pressure of touring....that can really take its toll on personal relationships as they are around each other 24/7.
Jesse is known to be quite hot headed so this may have just pushed him too far...

Jesse's farewell CD to the O7:
1) "Is it really time to go?" 2) "No seriously, what time is it?" 4) "Sheeetttt....time to pack this beeyotch up.. I'm moving on" 5) "Morris, I'm the real pimp/gigolo, playa" 6) "You knew it was time for me to shine too " 7) Bonus Track: " Uh..uh...I'm tired of taking y'alls bullsh*t all the time "

They've done 2 live shows and 2 TV spots spread out over 2 months. If that's the straw that broke the camels back then there's not much hope for the group. It could also be there are things they don't want Jesse to say during interviews. We should wait to hear something from the rest of the group, since we're only getting Jesse's side of it. Maybe they'll make amends.

Well I find it interesting that Morris Day and The Time are touring regularly, not the OG7. Maybe he want's to be more active. I know Jam and Lewis aren't big on touring. That can pose a problem. Most money is made touring these days. Release Yourself

When Jesse is telling his stories sometimes the rest of them look like a ho in church.

(bolded part) Really? That's news to me. Well, I guess he sees that as an opportunity, so if that's what he chooses to do, then all anyone can do is wish him well, but how often does D'Angelo perform, make new music, tour? I don't see why Jesse can't do both if the OG7 isn't going to tour much or have a busy schedule. All the other guys have other projects they are working on (Well, I don't know if Jerome has an extra job holding up a mirror) so maybe he could work something out with the fellas or could use that opportunity to move on from the OG7.

^ Hopefully...i love them (and most of Prince's former side projects too)..

It seems that there are tensions within the band. Staying must not be an option for Jesse to remain happy. They've only played two new songs during their shows. Not challenging yourself musically or fully expressing yourself can break up the best of them. That doesn't even include the different egos and personalities involved. At the height of their success, John Frusciante left the Red Hot Chili Peppers twice. [Edited 12/15/11 12:36pm] Release Yourself

^Maybe he can tour with D'Angelo if he takes the offer, and can rejoin the O7 when the tour is over. They can always hire a temporary guitarist in the meantime.
