Little Article About O7 and Twitter Funk

A little "good news" (I guess?) regarding the Original 7ven...

America, Have You Heard? The Time Sings About Twitter

There are a few songs in the world that, no matter what, will get people off their seats and onto the dance floor.

Minneapolis funk outfit The Time has two of them: Jungle Love and The Bird. Try and dispute this. You cannot.

That same group — now recording under a different name, The Original 7even—has a new song out that may not achieve those lofty heights, but there is something else distinguishing about it: It’s called “#Trendin,” making it arguably the first funk workout that also incorporates references to Twitter.

In case you missed it in the above video, here are some of the lyrics:

Hey y’all/I’m bringing heat
Beastin’ Hot Topics every day of the week
Breakin’ news and I don’t even try
And you know it
(How’d you get so popular?)
I’m cool that’s why
Come on, type it in

We trendin’
They talkin’ about me
(repeat)

There are other references as well, including “tweetie pies” who are “gonna post it in ya blog.”

V10LETBLUES

I think the tune is "ok". The kind you listen a few times before you never want to hear again.

I never paid much attention to the lyrics, but they are pretty atrocious. And yes, somehow "#trending" makes singing about a dance called the bird, sounds like Kurt Vonnegut or something in comparison.

I still can't get over the "tweetie pie" lyric.

I am nearly forced to destroy my entire Time collection whenever I hear that.

You're so glam, every time I see you I wanna slam!
