Yes i saw on his FB page last night that he's putting the finishing touches on his new solo project but i had no idea he was dropping this bomb. I always knew Jesse had an ego dating back to the 80's but damn i thought he would be out of that box now. Shit i remember seeing Jesse Johnson's Revue in Columbia, SC in 1985. He did a mix of 4 songs and promptly left the stage and people booed him. I asked a friend of mine who worked at the Coliseum setting up the stage what went down. Jesse was pissed over money and stage time. He didn't want to go on before New Edition. Kool & The Gang was the Headliner. Jesse fucking up this 07ven reunion can't be good. The Prince cocksuckers are really gonna have a ball with this now. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

Well, based on what you just stated about Jesse, the guy seems to have some ego issues. Regardless of his solo project, he still sort of left the rest of the 07 hanging, unless they asked him to leave. We'll just have to wait until some of the remaining members express what took place regarding Jesse's departure--if he left or if they asked him to leave the group.

It couldn't be much of a label or a deal if the band is trying to handle distribution through their FB page. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

We shall see what happens if they do indeed say something.

It's a Time-Life distributed label, under Warner Brothers. WMG claims the new songs on Youtube, but they don't block them, just put a link to buy the individual songs as downloads. I've always thought that Time-Life only put out those compilation box sets of old hits sold on infomercials. I just posted on his Facebook page how I really truly felt about this. I smell bullshit and ego and this is not right. You don't do this to fans who have waited 21 fucking years to see these guys reunite and drop a bomb like this! Jesse really needs to get his shit together and if it's issues with the band, be a fucking man and work that shit out! You don't drop one of the hottest albums of the year and be a part of one of the best musical comebacks in a decade and bow out because of some shit! Really, Jesse? Really?
So not cool. And I could care less who thinks what at this point. I could understand if they (meaning the band) had toured and sold records and then realized that it's not gonna work out and then call it a day! This whoLe reunion thing JUST STARTED!!! If that's the case then Jesse needs to refund my $9.99 for the CD/DVD because I was all for this project. And as for him working with D'Angelo: Much love to my fellow Aquarian but leaving a legendary band to work with this unstable bastard is not the smartest move in the world!
Jesse, man... really? I mean... fucking REALLY?

^^The odd thing about this is in one of the interviews, The O7 said they recorded an album just prior to Condensate after the performance with Rihanna. They scrapped those songs and Condensate is newly recorded songs. If Jesse wasn't interested, why record 2 albums with them? He even mentioned the reunion album early in the year in an interview and seemed positive about it and the group although the purpose was promoting Verbal Penetration. From Jesse's original FB post there are obviously strong issues within The Original 7ven. None of us are aware of what has gone on/is going on with the members of the group. There hasn't been an official statement from the other members and there may never be one. Before everyone rushes to judge Jesse for his actions we should wait for the entire story to come to light. I'm sure we'll hear all sides eventually even though we're not exactly entitled to them by any of the members. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I think Jesse's ego has got the best of him and it's pretty shitty. It's really unfair to do this to the fans. If he wasn't interested then he was better off not even being a part of it all.

I don't think it is over. He seemed iffy on it, so I am not writing the obit on the band just yet. The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. This is VERY disappointing! I'm sure they spent LONG hours into 'Condensate' as a whole. The bar is HIGH for 'THE TIME' we expected them to comeback even HARDER LIVE! not 2 live performances along w/2 Television performances with promoting via online. The live show would sell more units. The album is Killer! a shame to let Condensate EVAPORATE. It would be ideal to do a small tour then by all means part ways,Then Morris could return to his PART-TIME group.

maybe changing their name to 'The Original 7ven' wasn't such a good idea after all If they replace Jesse and go out on tour,it wouldn't be the "original seven" members.
They probably should have chosen something like 'Flyte Tyme'.

Theories about Jesse's departure...
***Perhaps Jesse is feeling restless? The band were "planning" a tour for 2012 but I'm not sure if those plans were set in stone.Maybe he didn't wanna sit around, playing the occasional gig while waiting for the guys to decide to do a full tour? Maybe things weren't moving fast enough for Jesse.
***Maybe he's really pissed with Prince about the name change thing and wants to "speak his mind",but the other members are encouraging him not to? Jesse has always been the type of person who speaks his mind.I recall a blistering 1987 interview in Rock N' Soul magazine where he tore Prince a new one...lol...maybe it's hard for him to hold back now?
***Recent shows featured mostly old Time classics, and very little new material.Maybe Jesse is tired of "living in the past" and wants to play the new stuff? Maybe he wants the tour to focus mostly on 'Condensate' but the other guys don't agree?
what do you guys think?

I agree and esp the bold parts. I was so up on this reunion and the album, thinking this is one of the greatest reunions and album of the decade that I was like forget Prince and his rinsed out hits and dead beat sound for now TO7 is where its at! Condensation was getting prority. I would of travelled far and wide to see them tour for this album or even just a dvd of the tour. The whole project/album made me excited for them and mpls sound again. Then this bombshell! So its seems all that stuff Jesse was saying in the documentry about how great friends they were/are and the bond between etc was a load of bullshit. If you have a dispute with your fellow band members that you've known for decades and there meant to be your so called best friends you would sort out the issues and move on, you would not just drop a big project like this then all of a sudden and turn your back on them, that comes over as a bit spiteful and selfish to me and shows that Jesse was never truely into this. He comes over like he was just using this whole project as a platform to promote his own music. FUNKNROLL! "February 2014, wow". 'dre.

THIS - if Jese's most recent facebook comments are to be believed. Perhaps he simply doesn't want to be a novelty nostalgia act....
Respect to him for that. Are you listening TO7/ Prince......
On a serious note maybe his financial return from Condensate, and the associated compromises he feels he is needing to make, are no greater than that of Verbal Penetration - a project he had far more control over, without said compromises
Maybe he's as much a drama queen as P- ego could well be at play
All this rather debunks the theory that P was responsible for all the Time/ TO7 problems doesn't it? [Edited 12/16/11 6:19am]

I've always thought Jesse was the one in the group that should have really been more successful as a solo artist. Did I ever get Bare My Naked Soul? I might have to check out my Jesse cds to see if I have it. I defininately remember when it came out. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

SoulAlive, I don't think his departure has anything to do with not being able to speak his mind when he spoke it clearly on his FB page about he and the fellas just not seeing eye to eye. It is apparent there is tension with him and his OG7 bandmates, and it's probably more of an ego problem, especially if he specifically stated that he and the guys can't seem to be on the same page. Secondly he indicates he's a loner, so that alone screams there may be some 'ego' issues or like you stated, that he just wants to move on and do something new, without living in the past, as a former Time member. Nothing wrong with wanting to move on, but to just up and leave when their album just came out and the group didn't even have a chance to tour and promote the album, is just wrong.
If he is leaving on his own, then it seems he only has his own interests at heart, and not thinking about how the other fellas and fans feel about this. If he was put out from the group by the other band members, then I would think one of them would speak out and say why. Of course this is just all speculation until we hear something from the other guys in the band.

He should have. Maybe the fellas shuld get Micki Free to take Jesse's place. He is from the original era of the Time although not a member, and they wouldn't really have to change their name, so Micki would fit right in, as long as he could get along with the guys, but then again didn't he have some ego issues too? I mean it's not like Micki is currently in the spotlight with his career, but this could give him a chance to have his name out there again. I mean Micki's not looking too bad these days and he fits Jesse's image in the group.

Yeah well Jesse just gave that name 'Flyte Tyme' a whole new meaning, by taking advantage of his former Time member buddies, and taking the fastest flight out. [Edited 12/16/11 7:20am]

Just from the bits I've read here it just seems to me that maybe besides ego, there just seemed to be a disconnect on the touring. Let's be real Jimmy and Terry don't need this tour financially. Jesse isn't in the same financial position as them. But Jam, Lewis, and Jesse would seem to be the big draw for old fans. So the loose commitment of the tour dates maybe have been a lightening rod as well. If he really was asked to tour with D'Angelo, those dates are all overseas right? The bulk of the O7 dates would probably be in the US or Canada. And Morris is still performing with FauxTime? I don't know it just seems like a clusterfuck for scheduling.
