You're so wrong about this. It's also amazing when you think that not long ago it was supposedly the org that was the thorn in Prince's side. HQ was the "fammy" place best avoided by anyone who got physically sick from the tone of voice at sites like NPGMC. A couple of years later, Prince does a tour, org gets innundates by new people and presto : some new kind of reality where it's HQ being the disrespectful site. Such a joke. Need I really remind you of how "respectful" the NPGMC crowd and moderators were towards the org? The org was being dissed on a daily basis ... I'm really surprised you do not remember that. [Edited 9/29/07 3:13am] But back on the topic, like i said elsewhere, I am suprised that it took this long.

It is the same stuff that turns me off to our very own Music and More forum: the Prince bashing. we have to respect each other and not flame but Prince can be called anything but a child of God and that's cool. The mods are cracking down on members like its nothing. I got hit with a warning this morning for provoking. Provoking who? I want HQ to last but the mods are the ones that will ultimately decide how long it stays up just by chosing to fight battles bigger than them or to just going with the flow. Fighting with members who don't start shit isn't going to help them either.
you got a warning Cam? You? You're one of the nicest people I know and one of the biggest defenders of Prince on that site.My other complaint is that if you even come close to defending P, you will get ripped up like you were some criminal. I thought it was a Prince fansite? HQ seems to be headed downhill fast, even without Prince's involvement. The craziness continues. [Edited 9/29/07 8:02am]

Graycap, you and I have always got along, but I must say I am totally shocked at your statement. I am a member of both sites, abd always have been, and have been respectful at both sites.
That being said, I am familiar with everything written in the legal correspondence. One should not speak without knowing the full facts. What little bit of information that has gone back and forth between members does not even come close to showing the whole story. Housequake has not kissed anyone's ass. I will not post specifics on any boards, these or housequake, as there are some things that should remain behind closed doors.

And should you feel like protesting against this, the really faithful HQists will follow you around the boards (in one case onto a non-Prince board) to diss you like some kind of Scientology-adherent. To divulge what was in the correspondence would actually get HQ in deep water. Believe it or not, correspondence written by someone is copyrighted. The author of the correspondence on the opposing side specifically stated in their correspondence that what they had written was considered their copyright and not to be posted on the public forums. They have that right. For us to repeat what was in the correspondence on the boards is a blatant violation of copyright law. Bottom line, the demands were far and above what you have seen occur on housequake over the past few days. Many of the demands were utterly ridiculous and gave many of us a good laugh. Alot of the demands were ignored. What was offered to the opposing parties (and I mean plural as demands came from more than one source), were simple compromises that the Aaron did not feel compromised housequake. While housequake had a very good legal leg to stand on with about 90% of the opposing parties allegations, housequake also recognized that litigation initiated in many jurisdictions (US and overseas) is very costly and very time consuming, and ultimately decided to offer good will and a simple compromise to meet the needs and desires of all parties involved. It is that simple. Housequake did not kiss Prince's ass, nor did Prince kiss housequake's ass. No one wants to be involved in litigation, and the current compromise was a good solution for everyone involved.

thebumpsquad said: BlackandRising said: What really got me about HQ and the big head syndrome over there were the rules they had regarding their pics and other media...the fact that they put watermarks on them to somehow identify then as HQ property...that was some bullshit. I remember the big whoop about a Prince tour book containing a pic with a HQ watermark across the bottom...no doubt this was done to put them on notice, but to them it was some kind of "look how big we are!" thing. Then the fact that here you have to credit HQ when you use a pic from their site, as if it were their property? The audacity of it is sad and funny at the same time.
The funk? Those Housequake logo's were placed there by the people who uploaded them. They were were NEVER intended to constitute them being "HQ property" - merely to show which site the picture originated from. Where's the ego in that? The members who took the time to scan, clean, upload and host the pictures decided to add the HQ tag - it was never a rule that they must be added. Nobody was claiming property of anything - did you see a copyright symbol claiming ownership of the pictures? No. It's obvious you are not a fan of HQ, but please stop making this crap up. [Edited 9/29/07 10:43am] Wrong at the NPGMC a few members posted HQ Logo pictures on prince picture threads and they where attacked for doing so, there was massive arguments on both websites at the time name calling etc it turned down right nasty, certain ones stated they where HQ and where not to be posted on any other websites later on an agreement between websites happened that where ever people posted pictures they would state the source. I like HQ and do frequent the website to just read but I do not post as I have felt like an outsider since the day I tried to stand up for a friend who got abused at that time, I was basically told where to go. I wish HQ well but I do feel when they started placing the HQ Logo onto everything this is when there troubles got worse. I don’t believe in name calling we all frequent each website when you start going down that road you start the “US and THEM” battle all over again

Hi Again Everyone, Surely opinions can be expressed here without insults and vitriol ... .. and, moreover, without the censorship of thread closure ?? Again, we are simply looking for open debate and, given time, the opportunity to more fully address your concerns and queries. M3Taverse, this is not a marketing exercise - we can assure you - and, ultimately, this matter is too important to be trivialised as such ... .. we are in the business of fighting piracy, NOT fans, but there are issues that need to be addressed here and that is what we have been doing (both through our - now closed - thread and through comms with the Mods behind-the-scenes). We have agreed to leave this debate to the regular members for now but, hopefully, we'll be able to pick-up the thread again soon (in more ways than one). This is what Web Sheriff was responding to by the way, I think everyone thinking about engaging in any convos with these people should think about: Never before, to my knowledge anyway, has an unofficial fan site allowed the artist's legal representation an official voice on its pages. So this is something new... Good scoop for Web Sheriff this one, which is a commercial corporation, always looking for new clientele. They have a world first, representing one of the biggest artist on the planet. What does this mean for us, and anyone with any corporate insight will acknowledge this : The Web Sheriff will be using us to get their next client on board. The Web Sheriff will be a busy little bee, making lots of screenshots of people calling them names, asking questions etc. These screenshots wil go into Powerpoint presentations, that have titles such as "Web Sheriff : the fan community expert", and "Web Sheriff : the art of manipulating the community into compliance" . They'll use someone's particularly dumb comment to get a laugh from the audience, they'll take someone's quasi legal approach as an example of what to expect, they'll use someone's "peace offering" as proof that community manipulation does work. Just so you know. You gonna be in the Sheriff's Powerpoint Presentation. Say Cheese! "this especially prepared potato is called pomme de terre"

Housequake must have said something to the owners or moderators of Prince.org at some point. When an orger posted a link of a photo(one from Housequake) in the chatroom of Prince about a month and a half ago, the moderator made sure to point out that was NOT permitted and could cause a legal problem if the people/person from Housequake found out about it. That sort of sounds like Housequake claimed the right to those photos.
So who actually owns the rights to the photos? Housequake owners did not take the actual photo so they shouldn't claim any right to it.

thanks yall for your replies. No , I am not a mod and no they don't just "show it to anyone". As I stated my field is US intellectual property law and I was assisting with legal counsel on the US side. That is the only reason. I just wanted people to understand that there is more to it than just the posting of O2 pics and that HQ is truly trying to work with web sheriff and prince's team on a resolution rather than taking a "I am right and u r wrong so kiss my ass" approach. I think that shows a great deal of good will on both sides, and truly hope it is real.
I like housequake, and I like the org, both for different reasons. I am willing to bet if prince's team came to the org and said remove ur picture gallery, remove ur avatars, remove the album cover art and don't use my name or I will sue you in every jurisdiction of the world, the org would find itself in a very similar situation.

And your point is? The whole Housequake situation is a Joke on thier part. Web sheriff should just take a leaf out of what other ex members has found out thiers no way you can get a decent opinion out of the housequake fanatics who think the site is the best thing since slice bread, Well Bread can go Mouldy too. Oh and why are they Bringing the Org in the discussion by telling Web Sheriff to check out the photos on here. They probably know about the photos on here but the problem seems to be Housequake face it prince probably does not like the site, where housequake spouts about independence, you can be independent without causing friction for yourself. Now face it they have took liberties... Video Forum Concert photos (Which was requested not to put on housequake) Requesting of Bootleg Covers.
