As far as I'm concerned the Org bashing HQ or HQ bashing the Org is pretty much a pot calling a kettle black. Neither site is perfect...I probably spend equal amounts of time both places and I honestly don't see that much Org bashing over there. When I do, I speak up (same as I'm doing now with the HQ bashing) and so do the mods.

Fighting amongst the "Prince sites" is not going help anything...frankly none of the websites--except 3121.com--are safe from the Purple mafia. I doubt HQ would be rejoicing if the Org was getting "kicked in the ass" as Gray so maturely put it.

The idea that Prince is seeking to shut down HQ is inventive and based upon an inventive idea that he was trying to shut down unfavourable opinion of him by fans in the 90's.

Hey that's an opinion but the 'facts' that are continually referred to turn out, upon the slightest research, to be nothing more than the opinions and accounts of those on one side of the coin.

Nowhere can we read about what the guy at the airport with the camera did to draw upon himself the attention of Prince's bouncers (the famous example cited everywhere as evidence of 'Prince attacking his innocent fans') or Prince's personal statement of why he decided to resort to legal measures.
All we get are the 'sherpy nerp nerps' taking any truth of the matter all the way into a fascistic 'We are the Prince-fan crew who know it all, have seen it all, and YOU will bow down to our opinion on everything'

What we have is a set of fans-in-business who are and have been of the opinion that they had a sharp operation of boot-trading fronted up by magazines with 'critical acclaim' and appreciated by just about everybody. This led some of the more entrepreneurial of them to think that they could do pretty much as they want without paying any dues and, more ignominiously, that Prince's non-release of items justifies their illegal production and distribution and processes of profiteering from this. The 'Hey..the fans want it' clause or, more lately, the 'Hey we're just giving it all away' clause. It's the 'looters in a riot' mind-set on the rampage.

This is the tendency that Prince has been suing, not his 'fans'.
Just as you cross the line from 'pot-smoker' to drug dealer once you accept cash for passing the joint, so there's a line to be drawn between fans and business.
Prince has sued business which is offering him competition. Period. Doesn't matter whether that business is offering 'remastered' joints or 'unreleased' joints or 'counterfeit' joints or 'free' joints.
The joints was HIS.

Hiding in amongst the fans doesn't mean you can mobilise them in bootleggers' defence nor does it mean that because a fan has a bootleg that they're in favour of the bootleggers.

Rights is rights as long as right is right.
