WellInever

Didn't he do this a while back? Didn't he sick is bodyguards on some guy at an airport for taking his photo? Someone needs to tell him that the person that takes the photo owns the photo UNLESS there is some contract. Fine print on the back of a concert ticket doesn't form a contract. It is up to prince and the security to enforce the no camera rule. if they fail to do so that is their problem not the owner of the photo.

Y'know what? I don't have a dog in this fight but I think that what you posted is hateful and divisive.

Quite frankly, I'm surprised at you Gray...I thought you were above this sort of thing. Why come over here to stir the pot?

In all honestly, I've tried 2 hold my tongue on HQ. I have my reasons, I'll leave it at that.

I am a member of HQ too and while I am down with HQ, I really think the mods have helped to make this situation worse than it needed to be. The mods are cracking down on members like its nothing. I got hit with a warning this morning for provoking. Provoking who? I want HQ to last but the mods are the ones that will ultimately decide how long it stays up just by chosing to fight battles bigger than them or to just going with the flow. Fighting with members who don't start shit isn't going to help them either.

My other complaint is that if you even come close to defending P, you will get ripped up like you were some criminal. I thought it was a Prince fansite? HQ seems to be headed downhill fast, even without Prince's involvement. The craziness continues.

The guy that stuck his camera in his face like no paparazzi would have dared and then went on to countersue for 'emotional' injuries? Or am I thinking of some other planet?

Not what i was referring to sosgemeni.
When I was on NPGMC, there were daily posts dissing the org. I dunno if you simply don't remember, or weren't that frequent a visitor, but it was tedious at best.
In npgmc.com reality, org was were all the haters were.

Partly due to the whole "org exodus" yadayada which played out around that time etc - edit

The experience of those I know on HQ is very similar to yours.
Warned, censored, edited, banned and even ISP-banned for expressions of opinion contrary to HQ tenets whenever the uppity mods are feeling even more uppity than usual.
And should you feel like protesting against this, the really faithful HQists will follow you around the boards (in one case onto a non-Prince board) to diss you like some kind of Scientology-adherent.

I mean is there a better way to make enemies?

Right?! They are being paranoid and it's not cool. Too many times they make themselves out to be victims when in a lot of cases, they had warnings and just didn't adhere to them and now look at what's happening. It's making people go against Prince when it's not his fault and those that say that get tarred and feathered. That's the REAL censorship and that is wrong. HQ can be their own worst enemy.

Kind of strange that you are still posting on a fansite. This website also has a lot photos that are not allowed by Prince and his people on HQ. And photoshopped pics were 'forbidden' a long time ago on HQ. (You can still find them here and on every other fansite).
If it is like you say I think you are not respecting Prince's business by posting on a fansite.

Haha. Downloads? Man, those videos weren't downloadable since 2003 anymore. As far as I remember the Superbowl performance took place in 2007 and since it was broadcasted the broadcaster has the copyright.

man, FUNK HQ!

They are the most uptight muthafuckahs I have ever dealt with in any online community. The have no sense of humor, think they know everything with regard to internet legal concepts and how they apply to what they do (as we see, they aparently do not), and ban people at the drop of a hat. The warnings have been numerous, few heeded. So the owner doesn't agree with the legal arguments being made...well, some people still believe the sun revolves around the Earth.

If the owner and his crew didnt' have such big heads, they wouldn't be in this mess.

What really got me about HQ and the big head syndrome over there were the rules they had regarding their pics and other media...the fact that they put watermarks on them to somehow identify then as HQ property...that was some bullshit. I remember the big whoop about a Prince tour book containing a pic with a HQ watermark across the bottom...no doubt this was done to put them on notice, but to them it was some kind of "look how big we are!" thing. Then the fact that here you have to credit HQ when you use a pic from their site, as if it were their property? The audacity of it is sad and funny at the same time.

The funk?
Those Housequake logo's were placed there by the people who uploaded them. They were were NEVER intended to constitute them being "HQ property" - merely to show which site the picture originated from. Where's the ego in that? The members who took the time to scan, clean, upload and host the pictures decided to add the HQ tag - it was never a rule that they must be added.
Nobody was claiming property of anything - did you see a copyright symbol claiming ownership of the pictures? No.

It's obvious you are not a fan of HQ, but please stop making this crap up.

Streaming/Downloading are basicly the same thing. The issue is distribution of copyrighted materials. Anyone can save a copy of 'streaming' videos. The best thing for any fan site to do, no matter who the artist, is avoid distributing illegal copies of the artist's work. I think Prince has been extremely patient
with HQ, and they should pray he doesn't exercise all of his legal options against them.

Shit, funk you too! You tag copyrighted material with your watermark, what are you insinuating? I'm referring to the legality of the situation, and they were called on it. To show where the picture originated from, yes. This is a tired old argument which I really can't be arsed getting into again - it's also the reason the Org has a "credit your sources" statement.
The Org gallery moderator thought it was fair, HQ thought it was fair, but you evidently don't.

No issue with your opinion, but I do have issue with you passing it off as fact.

I didn't say anything was fact, that was my take on it. And, you couldn't be arsed into the argument as you're on the wrong side of it, legally speaking. My point is that HQ implied, be it through statements or rules regarding the pics, that it was somehow their's to do with as they pleased. Big bottom line is that they were wrong in how they were using them.
