Uhh I used the wrong forum.. 3 threads about HQ... hui!!!

It's right to think about the bad situation and I hope Aaron will kick the wrong MODs and think think think what to do next.

Or if he goes that way he gone in the past he better will close/quit the site.

I like HQ very much BUT what if it's 2 much it's 2 much.

I have to say that my first choise of a Prince forum in 2001 was Prince.org and then later I changed to HQ I don't know why.. but now.. it seems the ORG would be the better choice....No?

I was in London bla bla bla 4 2 many times - I have/own German Fan sites bla bla bla, I'm not going to do anything for my sites coz it's borring and all stupid all over the situations bla. I'm over coz of the ticket sales...I got refund but I'm over it. I'm disapointed.

The last aftershow was so great but when I read all the stuff from the last weeks... oh man! Am I Prince fan ? Oh yaeh! I loved it to stay next 2 the stage and he lough to me/us it was great like in Berlin 2002 as a member in the first Row...He loughed/giggled like a joung boy...
or a clown???? Anyway I loved it.

I read all the horror stories - uhhh I think the big P don't like HQ because of the arrogance had taken place there! It's not only the copyright thing! It's the arrogance!!! HQ fight against P and the NPG - example: the HQ Photo in the actual Tourbook - what a shame! They would have to be proud but now/NO they fought against the Photo... stupid!!!

Sorry but if I could write in German it would be better biggrin

I hope U understand my thoughts.

Getting pro-bono reprepsentation is not as easy as you think sos.

If only life were that simple.

Gav,

I'd say your best course of action in this injustice would be to:

1. Relaunch Housequake as a text only forum, keep all the same topics. Nothing wrong with talking about bootlegs. Keep all photo and bootleg sharing private between members.

2. Reload Housequake with the Pirate Bay, keeping everything on Swedish servers, transfering ownership of the site "in name" to someone in Sweden. Therefore nothing on the site has to change.

3. Contact the media and make Prince look so bad in this that it destroys his career.

4. Find a lawyer who will challenge "team NPG" on this for free, like before. What happened to Alex Hahn?

You should post all the emails team NPG has sent you over the last three years, that would be hilarious to read, all their stupid requests. I should launch a fan site (f*ckprince.com) just to get in on the game and start getting requests!

I don't think anyone here wants to see Prince's career destroyed.

Yeah cos the org never bans anyone.

I really don't understand all this Org v HQ v other fansites shit. Surely most members of either/both sites were initially members to get the latest news on Prince, find out about the latest gigs/bootlegs etc and maybe even participate in some sort of community where there is the common interest that is Prince's music (where they may not get in real life!). Now it seems to me that if this is the case then folk (like me) would take an interest in any site that offers the above (i.e. the org, HQ, princefams, dawnexperience etc etc) and not join one and "fuck the rest". So can someone please explain the small mindness of some folk who not only proclaim that one community is better than another but all other websites can basically go to hell?? Surely the more quality sites we have like the above mentioned then the more chance we have of getting the latest good quality news etc?

Maybe someone should start up another "Holy River" for the weird arseholes to join and leave the rest of us to visit multiple sites without having to read their drivel? smile

Peace!

Spot on

Yes I moderate HQ but was a member of the org from the beginning, met my wife on here, also work on Uptown, have helped organise and run the Dawn Experience parties and was even one of the L4OA team before I dissagreed with their policies (mixing religion and music).

We're a fan community, regardles of which order our "favourites" folder is in.

I started off here at Prince.org. Then founf Housequake and found myself using that more. But use both. For me it may have been as simple as they layout of the site that made me use Housequake more. I dunno.

But i have respect for both. And I also do not understand the Housequake Vs Org 'battle'.

We are all here to discuss and enjoy Prince.

And whilst i may not agree with what Prince is doing to Housequake, i'm finding this nastyness and negativity hard to swallow after an amazing summer in London.

21 nights! Prince back in the spotlight where he should be! Many many great experiences had by us fans! Low ticket prices enabling most if us to go more than once! Aftershows more accessible!

It's been amazing.

Without gettin all 'tree huggin' hippy shit on yo ass' let's all pull together here. Work out how to keep these websites going without gettin in trouble and shutdown.

Ridiculous. Please email me and I will post it on my forum, see how far you get trying to sue me.

I never said I wanted to sue you. I simply said that emails are copyrightable, and if you don't believe me, call any copyright attorney of your choice and ask. Now, that isn't to say that just because someone has posted a copyrightable email that you can recover damages, because of course you have to proof your damages. If, hypothetically, I wanted to sue someone for posting an email of mine, the court most like would admonish the offending party and issue an injunction adviding them not to do so in the future unless, of course, the email damaged my business or some such sort.

Think before you speak. I never said that just because someone posted an email that is copyright that they are going to win any damages in court. I merely said that they are copyrightable.

Good post until the very end when you had to throw in an insult. There is another Holy River by the way.

I would agree with what you said in the beginning if it weren't for all the slams against NPGMC members when I was Stymie on HQ. I loved the Club and as there is some negative aspect of all the fan message boards, I don't see why the personal insults were allowed to happen.

I am not a fan of HQ. Never have been (except for the videos) but I do have respect for Gav and definately for Sevennynine.

I agree that wasn't called for. As a matter of fact you are no better than the ones that have been participating in all of this name calling. If you don't like the Holy River fine, but don't insult the people that made it or the ones that visit it.

Fair point. I shouldnt have said arseholes. But at the end of the day, the mainstream sites like the Org and HQ are really quite similar in content so why would the mutually exclusive members slag each other off? (Holy river used to house a very different kind of community if I remember correctly, not being slanderous...its just "the truth"!)

I would like just to make a short comment, which will probably be my first and last on this thread.

First, I remember a few times when some people started dissing prince.org in HQ. In all cases (all cases), any of the mods (sometimes it was me) posted something like "We respect all other Prince fansites and have no problem with them, so please stop dissing the org. There is space for all of us in the net". And it was over.

Second, I'd like to say that IMHO all HQ moderators (me being excluded) have done a stunning job to make that website a reference fansite on Prince & his music. Therefore if you want to blame someone for something, blame all of us.

But I strongly suggest you reading the story of Prince fansites and fanzines to realize that the problem does no lie in the people running them; the problem lies in the overcontrolling behaviour of Prince. In the case someone could be interested, I found a few pages summarizing past happenings and posted them here:
http://catetoblog.blogspo...th-us.html

And that's it. I let you guys continue the discussion.

I do know whats happening and i dont blame the mods for that situation over copyright stuff etc, hell I dont even blame Prince iam sure the mods Turnitup and whoever else who was in talks with web sheriff did what they thought was right at the time.

If you read most of the posts the complaints against certain mods was about the attitude towards members.

With all these stupid laws, and stupid lawyers, etc... Housequake should just be hosted in Sweden, or be in affiliation with the Pirate Bay, so they are untouchable, or just change to an "all text" forum format. That would be an easy way to shut that scumbag Prince up. Who needs pictures when you have all the words ya need.

Whatever the outcome between Prince and Housequake, I hope there's clear and specific info as to what precipitated the action, how to prevent this from recurring, and actions a fan site needs to take before it gets to this point.
If nothing else, it can be an education for other sites.....and that's a GOOD thing.

Can I just jump in here ?

Txladykat has been providing HQ with unofficial, personal advice regarding particular US laws. At this moment no attorney (US or otherwise) has been authorised to accept service on behalf of Housequake.com.

The Prince community is lucky enough to have a number of fans with legal experience who have volunteered their services on a personal basis.
