I'd expect (and counting on) Koko being an 8:30ish to 10:45ish show. If it's ticketed aswell I could train up this time (for some reason don't fancy the Southampton to Camden drive). Much easier, could get back to Waterloo for the last train to Southampton, smoke me a kipper I'll be home for breakfast. No tickets, no keithyt this Sunday I think. Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

Its aready been a problem getting all the people in before he comes on stage, I certainly hope he doesnt start before 8:30, unless pre sales of course. I think just one show on a Sunday night as well.

So glad to hear everyone who got in had a great night would have loved to have been there but I had tickets for Dream Theatre last night front row (tickets bought like a year ago or something) so couldnt risk trying to get in if no guarantees where I already had tickets to another show which I have to say was an awesome 3 hour gig!
Still havent made any london shows yet - and of course the way my luck is going, prob wont make the next ones as I'm playing a gig tomorrow night so that just leaves RS Monday....wish me luck hahaha. Brixton would be good, hopefully we'll hear something about that soon [Edited 2/15/14 4:34am]

I guess Brixton will offer out of towners the best chance. I can't see how a near 5000 capacity venue could do anything less than pre sales. .

Twats.
Think it's safe to say that Ronnie's will be £70 - wonder if Koko will be too...

and most of them are lurking around here, or NOT?
Word 2 the wise: years ago when I lived in Austria, a friend of mine had a theory that people who were on the autobahn would ring into the local radio stations saying that there were all sorts of traffic jams & accidents on certain routes, to gain an advantage.
Now...why would anyone do that? [Edited 2/15/14 5:03am] If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

Its a good point. The curfew will make people think about their options. I think the London early curfews might be playing a few problems with Prince's plans. He's used to the States where he could always do a second show at 11pm. Does he try and charge £70 and short change some people with 1 hours shows? just so he can fit two in? My guess (and I could be completely wrong, so don't plan!) is that Koko will have to be one show, unless he goes on earlier than 8pm. It was a pretty short set really, but I don't think anyone felt short-changed! We were lucky to get in at all. I'm not sure the doubt about whether there would be a second show was fake, getting things turned around was a close run thing. Shame there's was a curfew, another encore would have been about right, but wouldn't have swapped for a longer show somewhere less special. The queues were impeccable as far as I saw. The railings made it difficult to do anything else, and everyone seemed nice around me. One woman seemed to queue jump, was roundly booed, security came, lengthy discussion, not sure what the decision was. The venue were good at counting, keeping us informed etc. Lovely venue. Don't know if things got more difficult and fraught at the end of the cutoff for the second show.

Yeah, Brixton surely has to be an advance sales gig. There's several nights free there so wouldn't be surprised if there's more than one gig there too. Hopefully for us that haven't made it to one yet. So come vibe with us.....Funk Bible...New Testament!

I just tried calling Ronnies now, but it goes straight to a pre-recorded message - saying ROUGHLY 'if youre enquiring about prince....dont!' LOL

Well, I'm not going to Koko until we see something more solid. Also, I'm not going to sit outside for 12 hours or more.
I'm going to travel up mid PM Sunday. If don't get in, I'll enjoy the market. but based on SBE, if its £70, getting there by late PM looks more than achievable to get in. .

I arrived at SBE at 20:00ish, was #1364, although I ended up in top tear which sugested nearer #1700 going by their website capacity. Weather is also forcast to be decent for tommorow, I thinking of arriving 3-4, if Q decent will go for late lunch/beers, if getting long will join it.

Sounds like a good plan. Koko rear floor is still a great view. I was at the very back for a Haim gig in May and it was sweet. .
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Good view from the back is good to know, never been to Koko's before, I presume the floors flat as opposed to Brixtons slope? Are there any stepped levels etc, wife not the tallest.

REALLY hoping the Manchester gigs for Fri & Sat next week turn out to be true.
Us Northern Lurkers have been following this last couple of weeks from afar, more than a little jealous!!
I couldnt justify leaving the kids with the grandparents and go four hours in the car (or £200 on the train) without a pre-booked ticket!
But to drive to Manchester is less than 90 mins for me so I'd defo take the chance on that one!!
Starting to feel those butterfiles.....

I took my wife to Haim (shes 5'4) and she could see ok. We were right at the back of the floor, which is under the overhang of the circle. Can't remember if the floor is sloped, if it is, its only slight.
I also saw a Mika gig there a couple of years ago and stood at the very back against the wall and it was ok. For Prince in 07 I was nearer the front with a mate. For Prince in 88 I went to the balcony. [Edited 2/15/14 6:04am] .

We were at the back of Koko under the cirlcle balcony for Prince in 07. My wife is only 5ft1" and it wasnt a problem.
Dont remember the floor being sloped but its such a small, intimate venue - anywhere would be great I think!
