Me: Guess who is going to be at the BRIT awards?

Girlfriend: My sister

Me: Who will she see there?

GF: The Arctic Monkeys

Me: Did you just say your sister is going to the BRIT awards?

I have just been rendered speechless...

If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

Well that was fun! Glad I ignored the various doom monger.

I jumped on the train to London and as I arrived @710pm I saw the news on Twitter and was straight over to Kings Cross. 218 in the q and we were second last row in the venue so I reckon 250-275 actually got in.

It was one of the strangest experiences of my life. The acoustic set was surreal, the electric set made my ears hurt due to the volume. A real funky crowd.

It was nice to see almost everyone from the EB q there including our very own Scotsman on the balcony singing his heart out! Also noticed the young lady from Poland made the second show as I was leaving.

Sometimes u gotta take a risk in this life and it paid off this time.

Now - getting homw was a disaster, trees fell on my line and I was sat on a train for 3hrs before getting a taxi 100 miles.....smile

So was there a Q&A?
Bad luck on the journey home

Mindflux said: You know what fluxie sweetie, I have been to a shitload of Prince concerts over the years. Some good, most great, one or two not as good as he's able to deliver. In 2007 I enjoyed 19 out of the 21 nights, after shows in each and every one. Met him twice and I completely respect his artistry. Prince is a musical genius and I love him. However, when it comes to his performances, every fan is entitled to an opinion, and I know when I see coldness and marketing and I know when I see true emotion. Sunday - pure marketing. I think the fact that this tour has turned into a press/media tour backs me up. I've seen lots of moments of great emotionality over the years. When he played guitar to Amy's Love is a Losing Game with her singing her heart out on the last night it beat everything. Hair on my arms stood up, and I get chills when I think of it. His guitar for that one song blew everything else out of the water. Guitar is my favourite.. To completely change the subject... Prince was talking about emotional ejaculate in I Like it There on Sunday night... If he can do that, why can't he sing Pussy Control?

Sorry, you are wrong on this one. Sure its an opinion, but an uniformed one as you weren't there. Sunday was not a marketing performance. I've seen Prince live over 200 times. I've seen him in a good mood, bad mood, rushed, interested or complacent. I know when he is going through the motions. Sunday was off the scale.

An awful lot of hardcore fans where there on Sunday and seem in unviversal agreement. The Sept 21st 2007 was a great one. Sunday was better.

Mr SM is spot on regarding this, I was at both of the above mentioned shows, and SBE blew the last aftershow at the indigo clean out of the F***king water.

I met someone after the SBE show, who i was with at the Indigo show, and she asked what I thought of the SBE show. I told her that it was the best thing I had ever witnessed, she looked at me and said, "what, better than the last aftershow at the 02"

In the end it is always subjective, but when 2000 people have that WFT look on their faces after a gig, you know you have witnessed something special...That is my 2 cents! biggrin

If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

So to write this in stone...

Koko = Sunday

Ronnies = Monday

Or other way round?

That's what they're saying. Ronnie's will be something else but very limited places. Good luck to anyone who tries.

Because I am in a generous mood today, I will let you all in on a secret, so do not tell anyone.

As Bono once sang:

"It's no secret that a liar won't believe anyone else
They say a secret is something you tell one other person
So I'm telling you, child"

But you know what is going to be announced very soon...

If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

koko is 1900 capacity. so its close to shepherds bush capacity wise and i'm not sure if that actually sold out, but it was close. people were turning up at 8pm and getting in. so as there were shows in EB and SBE and last night, many casual fans will have got their fix and be fine, so koko shouldn't be too bad really. with EB people lined around the block for 1000 capacity and whilst he did two shows, everyone got to see one show at least, and many from the first show saw the second show too, and i don't think that was sold out entirely either. so 1900 seems about right capacity wise for a short notice line up and pay on the door gig. plus EB and SBE were £10, if this is £70 then it puts a some people off

brixton is much bigger so no probs there and i presume manchester will be brixton size venues due to demand and it's only two shows

I thinks its more like 1410 total capacity, fair bit less than SBE.

Travel sorted for Sunday. Any chance that they'll do 2 sets at Koko? Really wouldn't want to miss out now.

I'm gonna make the trip to London today probably like hundreds others and then get to Koko's at 9am or some stupid time tomorrow. I don't mind doing it too much but I'm in a dilemma about what will happen there. I m thinking its going to be similar to the EB gigs where the 2nd show was longer and better than the first. This is a bit of a shame as those that have been queuing longest will probably get the shortest and more 'formatted' show, the dilemma is the risk of not seeing either...and I really do appreciate seeing him in any capacity...
I don't think what we did on the EB gigs will happen where you can queue again and get in I think the size of the queue will be horrendous, and if the reports of fighting going on last night are true it's losing it's fun value.
After all this thinking I'm going to queue and I think I'm going to get there by 10am latest and hope that's early enough...

Hey guys, I understand the collector's desire to assemble an objective ordering of all possible shows from best to worst, but it's a fruitless exercise really. So much at what happens at a gig happens between your ears that a collection of truly personal favourite memories is the best thing to aim for. Don't ever let someone else's authoritative sounding opinion about show X being better than show Y make you feel worse about your own experiences. The best moments for me are often wildly different from some of the ones I read about on here.

That being said...

Pretty special once in a lifetime job for me last night! Never going to see him in a venue like that again, felt like being at a billionaire's birthday party!

i actually think there will be 2 shows if there is still a big queue outside and enough to fill it again, which there will be I reckon. It happened at EB and he asked the question at SBE as well and then did 6 encores, as there as no-one outside, I know because my brother got in at 8 and my cousin straight in at 9. I think it's fluid for him and the plan is always there to do 2 shows, which is why he starts so early. It happened last night as well. Again no-one knows just my opinion on what I've seen so far.

Last nights venue had seating for 300 - 400, big difference when it comes to 1900 seater venues, if there are 100 people outside he is hardly going to do a show for that amount.

2 1/2 full show...I'd put money on it

I'd agree with you after what happened at SBE, however this time there is 2 days notice and all lot of ppl will want to get to the Sunday show rather than the almost impossible Monday RS one..we have not had this sort of notice before and EB filled twice..I just think its a possibility but I am going to attempt the first show regardless, to ensure I see him

Something not right here. The Versace Experiece tapes didnt Exist until July that year and the War tapes were 3 years later!!!

I was at both nights in the Point. And the Pod. No tapes.

Thats a good point!

Looks like there are a few self proclaimed hardcorers who have been to a handful of gigs and have mechandise time machines with them at gigs. I smell major bull lol

Koko will certainly have a cerfew. Its a residencial area. I think it used to be 1am on Fri/Sat, 10pm Sun, 11pm Mon - Thurs. But that may have changed. I'd be really surprised if they got one beyond 11pm for a Sunday.

Its a good point. The curfew will make people think about their options. I think the London early curfews might be playing a few problems with Prince's plans. He's used to the States where he could always do a second show at 11pm.

Does he try and charge £70 and short change some people with 1 hours shows? just so he can fit two in?

My guess (and I could be completely wrong, so don't plan!) is that Koko will have to be one show, unless he goes on earlier than 8pm.
