Anyone have any idea when the concerts actually start. I'll be coming in from Richmond & I have to work until 3pm. Do you think I'll make it in time for the Greensboro show Saturday night? I tried getting off of work that Saturday but there's no way. I definitely can't do the week night shows.

Yet another perfect example of Prince losing money for scheduling shows at the last minute. The other threads are full of posts with comments like "I wanted to go to 4 shows, but can only make 2."

Yeah, my wife was saying what a dick move it was on his part to not give more notice. At this point in my fandom I think I pretty much expect it I guess... How sad is that? lol

That's kind of what I figured but I wasn't sure. He usually runs late anyway right? wink

I can hope. I would just hate to show up late to a show.

Wish I could talk the wife into VIP tix but not nearly enough notice for that shit. Damn u Prince! lol

Congratulations and enjoy to all those who will be going to the concerts. All we ask for are details about each concert so we can live vicariously through you about what it was like to see the Purple one grace you with his musical genius. When I die I want to be eulogized as someone who loved Prince her whole life and how much I loved seeing him live. I can't wait to see him again. I may be moving to LA again from the Bay Area and if I do I hope he doesn't play there before I move. love kisses

Not so smart. New Jersey was full of empty seats, and I promise with 6 shows in the Carolinas, some will be Thousands short of a sellout. I can give 10 examples of people online who are going to fewer shows due to the madness of scheduling, and I personally know of at least 20 who are not going at all, due to having a life with a job, and responsibility. Prince is doing this out of mental illness. The same reason that he let Tony M in the bad. But I will take this from someone who is capable of Anna Stesia, Old Friends 4 Sale(original), and If I Was Your Girlfriend.

And if this was so brilliant and smart, you could type in names of other big artists on pollstar.com, and see a small list of shows, but you don't. No other big act would dare alienate their fan base like this, especially during a recession....in good times, nobody worries about losing their job to call in and go to a few shows.... And as far as You type in Bon Jovi, and you see show after show after show, same thing with U2. U2 isn't selling out their USA tour so far this year, but each venue has at least 40,000 seats sold. Prince is 10 times better than U2, but has 10% of the business sense.

Here's a further breakdown of ticket prices for the Greensboro show:

Tickets:

$20.00, $49.00, $79.00, $119.00 (All Seats Reserved). VIP Packages also available.

http://www.greensborocoliseum.com/event/2011/mar/prince-concert

Does anyone happen to know (or have an educated guess) based on past experience what these prices probably correspond to seating-wise? (Other than the VIP...that's out of the question for me.)

Peace...

I believe the $119.00 tickets are also VIP because they have two packages. The $199 VIP tickets have you seated at a table by the stage. The $119.00 VIP tickets have you seated within the first 10 rows of the stage. This is just a guess.

Even if he is doing the show to pay his legal bills, so what? I say if that's what it takes for him to play more shows near me, sue away. Surely he stepped on somebody's toe with his heels and they got a nasty infection and couldn't go to work. That may sound ridiculous, but my point is, a Prince concert is a Prince concert is a Prince concert. Go and enjoy, if you're tight on cash, get the $20 seats. If you go to the movies, it'll cost you about that much per person. People complain cuz he doesn't tour, then they complain when he does.

Prince doesn't have 2 go on tour 2 make money. He can just release a remastered unedited version of "Dirty Mind" and b set 4 life....

Promise this isn't personal, but Dirty Mind sold around 500,000 copies from 1980 to 1984, and from 1985-2010 has maybe sold another 200,000 bringing the total to around 700,000 sold. Remasters sales for big acts like U2, Bon Jovi, and The Police have only done ok sales, nothing huge. So if half of the 700,000 who bought DM in the first place buy it again, which would be extraordinary for an album that didn't even sell all that well in the first place, would be a miracle. Even if it did somehow move over 300,000 in a remaster, based on Prince's poor business sense, and tendency to blow money on projects that he will never finish, I doubt that a remaster of Dirty Mind would give him this incredible wealth to where he could retire.

In fact, even though it is my personal wet dream to have all his albums from 1978-1995 remastered, The profit he would make from his first 20 albums remastered would probably be enough to cover the various lawsuits he has lost lately, but not a whole lot more.

Now if Prince's take on a Dirty Mind reissue was $8 per copy, and it sold 14 million copies, then he would have enough money for the next 10 years, based on his spending habits. As much as I like Dirty Mind, it is one of those classics that not that many people bought, and personally, I like Controversy and 1999 better anyway, even though Dirty Mind is where he really found his sound.
