So what if he was born in Linz? 99.99% of the crowd that will be there in July has absolutely nothing to do with what happened 80-90 years ago, whereas it was still quite relevant in the 70's and had some kind of intellectual shock value. People nowadays would just give them the "what the fuck?"-look if anyone did that.

So Prince plays a concert in the birthplace of the greatest criminal lunatic in history (100 million deaths at a rough estimate), who started a war that in fact resonates to this day in so many profound ways that most people wouldn't be aware of - including the internet, a product of cold war bomb research, in turn a product of WW2 - and we shouldn't even mention it on a message board? Now I'm going WTF!

You can mention this in P&R, if you insist on doing it, but this is about one bloody concert!

Whatever, I certainly won't engage in a discussion like this now.

Prince always had a very hard time to sell tickets in Austria. I cannot imagine he sells out this concert.

I know. But now that he is playing Geneva too less people from that region will come though. And how many people really travel to an uninteresting city like Linz (sorry Markus hug) just for a concert? Especially with this economy? Only die-hard fans. I remember back in the day when I was travelling all over Europe for Prince concerts it was always the same small group of fans who travelled a far distance to see Prince. And I suppose there are fewer of these people left these days. So how many people from abroad might go there you think? I don't think more than maybe 1000 or 2000 the very most. But maybe I am wrong. I know some long time Prince fans from other places of Austria who don't even go there. It's damn expensive and it's on a Tuesday. Which will be another reason that not so many people from abroad will come IMO. I would not be surprised at all if he sells less than 10 000 tickets.

I once traveled to Linz for a beautiful girl. That was 20 years ago (20 years and 4 months to be exact). To make a long story short: A lot of people will come to this concert, and I'm almost sure that he will fill this stadium to the max.

Let's cross fingers that the weather is fine on all these outdoor gigs!

So you always come to Linz for someone special wink lol.
Have you ever been to a Prince concert in Austria before? Apart from one (and that was really hyped and it was n 1987) they were all half empty and that a was at a time when he was still a lot more popular and they were in Vienna where it is a lot easier to fill a place. My ex-bf who is a Prince fan himself too told me that he thinks there is a 50% chance it will get cancelled because so few people are gonna buy tickets. But let's hope you are right, the weather will be fine and everything will be cool.

Unfortunatly most twelve year olds probably wouldn't know that Hitler was born in Linz (or very close actually). Anyway Leonard Cohen greeted the crowd with "seig Heil' and 'wollen Sie totalen Kreig?' when he played the Sportspalast (Berlin) in the 70s when he was no longer 12. Don't mention the war!!

hey you troll, would you als try to stir up shit if the concert were in Salzburg or Munich?

Now THAT piece of paper looks really good ! Hopefully I'm getting mine next week - Hey mister postman.....

I'm absolutely optimistic about this event happening ! Oe3-radio is hyping it every hour, he has not been here for 17 years, and the ticket-price is high but normal for a superstar of his sort nowadays.
So people spread the word of his coming. I did and we are already 8 from Neunkirchen wink
The only thing I'm a bit worrying is the weather - hope the "raining-season" will be over in july confused

Yes. You just have to see an artist like Prince from up close. Because otherwise you can't see him at all!

Apart from the festivals which will go ahead regardless, I'm beginning to think, well been thinking for a while, that this whole Stadium tour could be a complete disaster and show(s) could get cancelled due to poor ticket sales, which you could attribute in large to the very high price. Just my opinion. I hope all the shows do go ahead and tickets do sell well because after whats happened in the last year I don't think Prince needs any more bad publicity. We shall see. Time will tell.

I don't give a shit if it would be bad publicity for Prince. It is his own fault if he decides to book such big venues in countries where he never has been very popular anyway. But it would be so sad for the fans who have tickets like me and lose money because you never get the full ticket price back when a concert is cancelled (sometimes you don't get any money back for Prince concerts at all BTW, has happened to me more than once, but I am pretty sure it would not happen in this case) and some people lose even more money who have booked flights, hotels etc..

Hey guys, I am having problems ordering tickets because of my credit card. I am going to bank tomorrow to fix the problem, but in case it won´t work out for any reason, would anyone be willing to buy a ticket for me and zaza? Of course we´d send you the money right away.

Must say: after attending an Indogo show (where Prince did perform). That is true said, if you mean attending a small club show. But not only to see him up close. Most of all to hear some good tunes!

Please stop your comments!!! They are not affecting the topic and are not true: Adolf Hitler was born in Braunau, not in Linz. And Braunau is not close to Linz, although it´s the same state.
