I agree with you. And really, I guess he deserves it. He did it to himself.

I just listened to the press conference and he pretty much put this on Brady. He said he has no idea about any of that stuff and that Tom would know more. Stay tuned....Brady comes on at 4pm today.

I listened to it too and Belichick sold me that he didn't know anything about it. I hate that now the likely suspect is Tom Brady, because I've been such a big admirer of his career and the way he handles himself off the field.

I guess best case is that some equipment manager steps up and says he did this all on his own because he loves the Patriots so much. But even if he didi, that won't erase the stink that's probably going to fall on Brady and Belichick.

The second half didn't use any of those footballs. They used the backup footballs....and the Colts were destroyed in the second half.

None of us know the truth, but everyone loves to point fingers. We'll see how the NFL handles this and then hopefully go from there.

Now onto Seattle!

How so?

If that were the case then why does the NFL have regulations about it in the first place?

I've played football all of my life, in cold or heat.

At the end of the day, the QB has 2 throw the ball, the receiver has 2 catch it, and the others have a carry it in some fashion. I fail to see how this is an advantage.

If the Patriots didn't think it gave them an advantage, they wouldn't have done it multiple times.

The only thing wrong with the pro bowl was that they did not play hard, that's it. Now with that in mind it could still happen again. There are stuff I like about the pro bowl now such as the draft. I hate this whole team Irvin vs team Carter crap (what is it next year team Bradshaw vs team Montanna??) It should be AFC vs NFC. I really don't know who to root for when I got Steelers players on 2 different teams.

Sources: Goodell determines Pats broke rules by taping Jets' signals

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has determined that the New England Patriots violated league rules Sunday when they videotaped defensive signals by the New York Jets' coaches, according to league sources.

NFL security officials confiscated a camera and videotape from Patriots video assistant Matt Estrella on the New England sidelines when it was suspected he was recording the Jets' defensive signals. Sources say the visual evidence confirmed the suspicion.

Goodell is considering severe sanctions, including the possibility of docking the Patriots "multiple draft picks" because it is the competitive violation in the wake of a stern warning to all teams since he became commissioner, the sources said. The Patriots have been suspected in previous incidents.

The Patriots will be allowed an opportunity to present their case by Friday, sources said, most likely via the telephone.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said on Tuesday that no official decision has been made and that the club has not been notified.

How it came to light?

NEW YORK -- A story in Wednesday's New York Daily News claims that Jets coach Eric Mangini, a former New England assistant under Bill Belichick, came armed with keen knowledge of the team's surveillance methods -- and finally decided to act.

"[The Jets] knew they did it," the Daily News wrote, citing a person with knowledge of the situation, who sent the newspaper an e-mail. "They caught the guy a year ago, but couldn't do anything about it. When Eric came, he said that's what they used to do. Bill is going to be [ticked] at Eric. He kissed and told."

Sunday's game was the fifth time Mangini has coached against Belichick since joining the Jets.

-- ESPN.com news services

The league also was reviewing a possible violation into the number of radio frequencies the Patriots were using during Sunday's game, sources said. The team did not have a satisfactory explanation when asked about possible irregularities in its communication setup during the game.

Goodell is expected to have a decision no later than Friday, but that date is not set in stone.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft was asked Tuesday when he expected a verdict, but said those questions had to be directed toward Goodell.

"There is an investigation going on now, and perhaps an adjudication of it, and I think it would be inappropriate at this time to make any comment," Kraft told reporters at a charity appearance Tuesday. "When you're successful in anything, a lot of people like to try to take you down and do different things. We understand that.

"We worked very hard to try to put an organization together that we all could be proud of in New England, and we're very proud of the New England Patriots organization and the record that they've established over the last 13 seasons and one game."

They did a scientific study on the news on throwing the ball under filled and with the correct fill. The ball thrown underweight was always caught. The correct air fill was not always caught. Basically, you can catch the ball much easier, with less effort.

But ethically speaking the NFL and the Cheatriots should be ashamed of themselves.

We can also make the argument that during the second half (when they were forced to use the "contingency balls") Brady threw 10 for 10.

I don't think that anybody is saying they wouldn't still have won the game or that Brady is not a great qb. Again, if it makes no difference then what is the reason for this rule in the first place?

Who knows. I think this whole issue has spiraled out of control, especially without an official report from the NFL. They haven't even contacted Brady.

We probably won't hear anything until after the Super Bowl. I really hope they win so people will just stfu.

Exactly. The 2 AFC championship games the Steelers loss to them is

a distant memory for me since the Steelers have won two Super Bowls

since the Patsies last Super Bowl win in 2005. It was poetic justice for me. I know Hines Ward mentioned that during the 2005 AFC Championship game the Pats defenders were constantly calling out their plays.

I just saw a news report saying that over 40 people were interviewed by the NFL regarding this scandal but they didn't interview Tom Brady. It makes no sense to me why they wouldn't interview the main person who was using the deflated balls in the first place. This just stinks of cheating and the NFL has the kid gloves on with the Patriots. This makes me wish that the Seahawks win on Super Bowl Sunday!

I think the NFL is protecting the Patriots. I think the Rams deserve another shot to win a game but I guess it's too late for that. Besides, the NFL doesn't want to set the precedent of a rematch based on controversy, otherwise no games would be official and people would be searching for any excuse to have a rematch. But, in this case it seems the Patriots cheated and the Colts didn't get a fair shot to win. I remember when I was watching the game I was wondering how it was possible for the Patriots to make so many completions compared to a typical football game. Now, my question has been answered.

Exactly. How did he not notice that there was something wrong with the footballs? I'm sure he would have stopped the game and complained about it before going any further. There's just no way that he didn't know what was going on.

Steelers' Ward suspected Patriots spying

PITTSBURGH — Wide receiver Hines Ward suspects the New England Patriots may have had some type of inside information on the Pittsburgh Steelers before at least one of the teams' two AFC championship game matchups since the 2001 season.

Ward is certain the Patriots, while known for the thoroughness of their scouting under coach Bill Belichick, had some kind of unusual help before their 24-17 upset victory in Pittsburgh in the January 2002 AFC championship game. The Patriots went on to win the first of their three Super Bowls.

"Oh, they knew," Ward said Wednesday. "They were calling our stuff out. They knew, especially that first championship game here at Heinz Field. They knew a lot of our calls. There's no question some of their players were calling out some of our stuff."

NFL security officers confiscated a video camera and tape from Patriots video assistant Matt Estrella while he was working on the New York Jets' sideline during New England's 38-14 victory on Sunday. The league has confirmed that it is investigating whether the Patriots were taping the Jets' defensive coaches as they signaled to players on the field.

On Tuesday, Steelers first-year coach Mike Tomlin, who wasn't around for those AFC championship games, said "when there's smoke, there's fire" of widespread suspicion some NFL teams use spying tactics.

The Patriots also beat the Steelers 41-27 in the January 2005 AFC championship game, though that victory was so convincing it would be difficult to pin it on cheating.

Still, Ward said he is disappointed there are allegations that any NFL team may have resorted to spying to gain an edge.

"You would hope that, during their run, when they were winning all their (three) Super Bowls, all that stuff wasn't going on," Ward said. "You look back in the past, and we played them in the championship games, and you kind of wonder. It seemed like they were a step ahead of us at all times, but those games are behind us. There's nothing we can do about it. You just look forward and see what the commissioner (Roger Goodell) will do."

Ward said any team caught spying should give up high draft picks.

"It's really hard to say (they should) forfeit games," Ward said. "Draft picks would hurt a lot of teams; take away their first or second-round pick - that would be a stiff penalty to make sure nobody does it again."

Steelers cornerback Deshea Townsend also felt suspicious, if only for one play he didn't identify, during one of the AFC title games.
