Mariah was beautiful. Alexis and Manila are beautiful. Shangela was beautiful even though she was a dumb ass.
Raja COULD be beautiful if he tried.

Okay, serious question here but what the hell does runway or having a fierce walk have to do with being a drag queen? I've been supporting our local Court and getting to know their culture over the last couple years (I was knighted "the gatekeeper to Stonewall" by this years Empire) and I have never seen runway walk having anything to do with drag culture. Oddly enough, vogueing has a much larger role and has never been featured on the show. I get that Ru and producers are attempting to be reality show meta with this show but you can only do that for so long. Me thinks the biggest problem is judging credibility. All other shows spell out how the judging/voting works. In this case, its all on RuPaul's whim. Well, that worked when the show was being reality meta but after three seasons, its now starting to feel like the judge's comment and that whole part of the episode is redundant cause Ru is gonna do whatever Ru wants. Couple that with the extreme cattyness, promotion of alcohol, and Amos N Andy like stereotyping of the drag community and I am almost to the point of giving up on this show. Space for sale...

Well duh, it's RuPaul. She's a supermodel. Of course runway and C U N T and fierceness and sickeningness is played up!

I thought the same thing!
And she wouldn't be able to bend over in those "nude" outfits, would she? I don't know... I feel like there has been some "alteration". "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

We, I'm late as usual. As far as the winner, I'm surprised at how disappointed I was with this particular outcome. It felt like such a flat ending to a really fun season. Hell even Raja's reaction was boring as hell. I was wondering if he even really gave a damn about winning. And all that boo-hooin' and carrying on and I didnt see no tears. I felt like after all that Manila should have taken it b/c she would have at least been a lot more fun to watch win. Whatever tho. This ending kind of soured the season for me b/c the ending was so anti-climatic (sp?). This reunion better be juicy. I graduated bitches!!! 12-19-09

I thought Delta was the prettiest by far.
I'm glad Raja won, though.

OMG, OMG, OMG! Are you going to ask Raja if Ru was her drag mother? There are all kinds of rumors. I love Alexis so much - what a sweetheart. And Manila - a complete beauty.

I'm not sure if Ru is Raja's dragmother... If so, Raja didn't learn a damn thing.
That being said, in Season 1's collage episode, there is a piece about the come up of Drag and in it you can see a headshot of Raja so Ru was definitely aware of him from jump.

I think something's up there. Raja is good, but I keep thinking about Bebe and Nina from the first season and no one has really measured up in season two or three. Tyra? Please!

I actually think season 3 had the best queens and season 1 was disappointing. Season 3's queens would not have made the same kind of rookie-ish mistakes some in season 1 made.

I think Manila goes back and forth with giving "realness" (not that I necessarily think her or Raja are concerned with that the way Carmen is). I like how they all look there but I Raja's makeup/hair in these shots. [Edited 4/29/11 8:12am]

I may not have liked her outfit but the makeup was always fierce I take that back. Her makeup for the 2nd part in the drag sisters episode, was lackluster to me. Other than that, I can't think of anything. [Edited 4/29/11 8:48am] I graduated bitches!!! 12-19-09

[Edited 4/29/11 8:48am] Uhh, giving Raja credit for his makeup is like applauding Naomi Campbell for a great runway walk after she entered an amateur modeling competition. Its his freaken profession and he's one of the best. Duh! LOL Another reason to be sour over his win. [Edited 4/29/11 11:31am] Space for sale...

But I don't remember ever seeing anything that says this is a competition for amateur drag queens only. If anything I remember folk making a big deal because Shangela hadn't put in enough dues. Most of the queens seem to have very well already established drag careers.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yeah, but I think some people's opinion is that Raja already HAD an "in" to the world of drag. The other girls did not. Hell, Yara was beamed down from Planet Rican.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I'm not disputing whether or not she had an "in". If you dig up very early discussions of this Season, I had mentioned somewhere that to me, going from lead makeup artist on a huge show like ANTM to contestant in a (by comparison) much smaller show, seemed strange, if not a bit of a step-down. It's not like it was a special edition "Celebrity Drag Race" or something.
I'm just saying that if there's no rules specifying otherwise then it's hard to make a case of it being unfair. [Edited 4/29/11 13:29pm]

You don't see how the audience could be turned off by ssuch stunts? Screw the rules, it justt makws the show less fun to watch. And remove ametuer from my above statement and it would still be unfair for Naomi to enter that damn contest. LOL Space for sale...

Where did I say this (bolded)?
And, while I like an even/fair race as much as the next person, I can honestly say that this season was just as much fun for me to watch. I didn't dislike any of the final three (all were in my initial picks) so it wasn't ever a pressing issue for me.
