No, Artest kicked Michael ass. punch blackeye

There was a little talk about it in the papers and around Chicago but no one who was there dare or agreed not to speak about what went down. Something about, what happens at the gym stay there . . . I thought that rule only applied to Vegas. biggrin

Now you want too much this is an old woman memory. lol

Funkpill, I want to say Jordan was still a player for Washington Bullets or he had just retired for the third time. Jordan worked out at the Berto Center, it was reported a player started arguing with Jordan - punches were thrown and this unknown player picked Jordan up and body slammed him before he was pulled off of him or they were separated.

His dickheaded behavior is legendary. He once let Charles Oakley take a beatdown from some bouncers because he (Jordan) refused to stop smoking his cigar in a non smoking section of a restaurant.

How about the politically savvy Jordan stating why he did not provide support for the Democratic candidate back in the 1990s.he stated "because Republicans wear Nike's too"

its one thing to be apolitical, but his response was ignorant at best. Jordan is sooo out of touch with reality its not funny

Tell us how you really feel about Jordan.

The biggest whining, crying bitch in NBA history. And I don't give a fuck what these young, basketball-history-challenged fans think, Wilt was still the GOAT.

You mean incomplete G.O.A.T.!

Yes, Wilt is THE only player ever to score 100 points in a game. Wilt's mad skills were the main reasons why the NBA had to created new rules.

HOWEVER.........

Despite all of that "greatness", Wilt's championship stats are not as great as it should've been.

Wilt's 2 rings VS. Michael's 6 rings

Wilt's 2 rings VS. Kareen's 6 rings

Wilt's 2 rings VS. Kobe's 5 rings (and counting)

Wilt's 2 rings VS. Shaq's 4 rings (and counting)

Wilt's 2 rings VS. Magic's 5 rings

Wilt's 2 rings VS. Larry's 3 rings

Wilt's 2 rings VS. Bill's 11 rings

Wilt's 2 rings VS. Tim's 3 rings

As for gold metals, Michael, Magic, Larry, Shaq, & Kobe have 1 each. Wilt has 0.

So based upon THESE^ amazing stats alone, I find down right impossible to believe that Wilt was ever greater than Michael. Bill being greater than Michael? Yes! Kareen being greater than Michael? Maybe! Wilt being greater than Michael?

brick F*** No!!!! disbelief lol

So based on your theory of Wilt not being better than Michael based on championship rings

then you're saying Dan Marino is less than Mark Rypien and Trent Dilfer(two quick footnote

SB winning qb's). I'm not saying one is better than the other(MJ and Wilt)but the number of

rings doesn't always count when comparing one player to another. The fact that Mario Elle

has 2 championship rings doesn't make him a better player than Adrian Dantley was.

Basketball & (American) Football are NOT the same kind of sports. And also, the key word is "greatest" NOT "best".

Not only is Michael Jordan the greatest non-center basketball player of all-time, but he also lived up to his potentials way better than a center like Wilt Chamberlain ever did. Think about it. Will alll of the natural abilities Wilt had back in the days, he should've won 7 championship rings, NOT just 2 rings.

He didn't back the Democrat in HIS HOME STATE. bored2 lol

You know about Harvey Gantt, right? NORTH CAROLINA, Tony. wink

See the only reason he decided to vote Democratic AFTER that because he was accused of being an Uncle Tom and a traitor by some blacks.

Can't say I blame them in that regard. He may not be a politician but if he thought his politics wouldn't matter in the entertainment/sports field, he was sadly mistaken.

Well when you're about 6'11 and your biggest rival is the LEGENDARY BILL RUSSELL, you deal with what you have to deal with.

Plus Jordan was heading down the same road LeBron James is at now if Chicago hadn't put him with Scottie Pippen and the like. He may have been the best/greatest point guard in NBA history but he couldn't have done it on his own. Hell I say Pippen AND Rodman and John Paxson helped him with those championships he did won.

Without teamwork, Michael wouldn't be bragging about being the G.O.A.T. It wasn't like he was Ali, not trying to compare the two but let's compare being in a sport where it requires teamwork to one where you're all by your damn self fighting off another man.

In that case, boxing > basketball. wink

That's not fair either. Look at the NBA Wilt played in compared to Jordan(tougher league, not watered-down with expansion), the quality of his competition, and his surrounding cast.

Not trying to take ANYTHING away from Jordan because I do think he earned what he got but to say that he single-handledly was responsible for WHY the Bulls won six championships is like saying Berry Gordy was the person single-handledly responsible for making Motown a multi-million dollar musical empire. Think for a minute. Jordan had a great team when he was in the Tarheels. When he got with the Bulls, they didn't have a team much like the Cavaliers. He scored 63 points in a playoff night against Boston and still lost. Wilt in comparison scored 100 points in a REGULAR SEASON GAME BACK IN 1962 and easily won. Why? No one knew how to defend Wilt, whoever team his faced. I think he was in the Philadelphia Warriors (way before they became the 76ers). Michael did 63 in one game and his team STILL lost. I think it was because his teammates just stood there like fools. Thankfully by 1989 he had a team that was capable of destroying competition.

Not trying to fight, just debate. Just saying if Michael has earned the right to be the greatest it had to do with these factors:

1.) A great team behind him.

2.) Phil Jackson.

3.) GREAT marketing.

----

So yeah.

Plus Wilt being one of the first black players in the NBA it was real tough for him to deal with racism in that time. Of course Wilt wouldn't have had the same success as Jordan because they wouldn't allow it. After the success of Wilt and Bill and 'em it made it easier for Jordan to come in and reap the benefits neither of them got. It's a generational thing with Wilt and MJ.

I think because we came up in the age of Jordan and saw him on TV, of course many of us are gonna say he's the greatest. But sometimes the stats don't really add up to the greatest. There's enough moments of Jordan where you can say he earned those "greatest of all time" stripes but maybe that's because that's when the NBA was at its most popular. We have to remember, the NBA was in a downfall around the time the Lakers in Los Angeles won their first championship in 1972 (which Wilt was a part of), when Magic Johnson and Larry Bird came to the league in 1979, it was a sign the NBA was heading back up, and even more so when Michael came to the scene in 1984. Marketing and great promotion had a lot to do with why they're so admired today, especially Jordan. Plus he was barely 21 when he entered the league so for a league to see a kid, around 6'6 doing what he did was great television, of course who's gonna deny that? That'll be like saying Mike Tyson didn't get promotion in the '80s for his one-punch knockouts and he was only 19 but as a matter of fact he also benefited from exposure since HE was almost the reason boxing became one of the richest sports until recently. Gotta think of how shit was in the '60s and then compare it to the '80s when the two Michaels (Jordan and Tyson) came to the scene. Of course media exposure would benefit them more than it did for, say Bill Russell or Joe Frazier, or Wilt or Ali.
