RIP Natalie Cole (1950-2016)

According to celebrity website TMZ.com, Natalie Cole has died.

The website reports, that Natalie "had been sick recently, canceling several tour dates in late December. She also canceled an upcoming February concert due to illness."

The daughter of Nat King Cole, Natalie rose to musical success in the mid-1970s as an R&B artist with the hits "This Will Be", "Inseparable", and "Our Love". In 1987 she re-emerged as a pop artist with the 1987 album, Everlasting, and her cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Pink Cadillac".

In the 1990s, she re-recorded standards by her father, resulting in her biggest success, Unforgettable... with Love, which sold over seven million copies and also won Cole numerous Grammy Awards. She has sold over 30 million records worldwide

TMZ also reports, "Natalie has suffered from liver disease and went through a transplant. She also contracted Hepatitis C, for which she underwent chemo."

Natalie, who was married 3 times and has a son, was 65.

I remember in early 1977,it seemed like our R&B station was playing the song "I've Got Love On My Love" every hour or so! That song was HUGE and was getting a ton of requests. It's my favorite song by Natalie.I have all of her 70s albums.Incredible singer! She had excellent material, too.

Such horrible news! I remember when I had bronchitis a few years ago. I was in the same hospital @ the same time she was having her Kidney transplant...She was an underrated icon with beautiful hazel eyes & vocals that she inherited from her father.

Also I worked with her son.

Very surprised because i had been revisiting several of her albums over the past few days. I saw her on a holiday show last week. Not sure how old it was but she was rail thin and didnt look good at all. RIP Natalie. She gave us some incredible music.
