Janet Jackson Drops Club-Ready 'Burn It Up' With Missy Elliott

By Colin Stutz | September 24, 2015 6:55 PM EDT

Janet Jackson 2015

Janet Jackson kicks off the Unbreakable Tour in Vancouver, Canada on Aug. 31, 2015.

R Chiang/Splash News

One week away from the release of Janet Jackson's Unbreakable, Miss Jackson has released another song -- the Missy Elliott-featuring "Burnitup!"

Janet Jackson's 'No Sleeep' Spends Fifth Week at No. 1 on Adult R&B Songs

Jackson revealed the track Thursday on BBC Radio 1 with MistaJam playing the song twice, back to back, immediately after.

The club-ready jam was first debuted on the opening night of Jackson's massive Unbreakable World Tour in August, further building anticipation for her first album in seven years.

Janet Jackson Releases 'Unbreakable' Title Track: Listen

Following, when the Unbreakable track list was announced earlier this month, Elliott's inclusion brought a lot of attention. The hip-hop icon has not released any music of her own since 2008 and her last feature was on Faith Evans' "I Deserve It" last year, with few collaborations over the years prior.

Listen to "Burnitup!" at BBC Radio 1 here, the song starts at the 55:29 mark.

Unbreakable will be out Oct. 2.

YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

-

I'm feeling this! This joint right here? Hell yeah!

-

Great ENERGY! And from 3:30-4:09 is DANCE BLISS!

-

I'll get the lyrics to the verses later. Just like with some of her brother's stuff. I'll figure it out later! LOL!!!

-

Now if they could just release a dope dance video before next Friday, they can have great momentum going into the worldwide release date.

-

Missy is still crazy as hell too! The vamp....Those last few seconds though....

-

This is what most people think of when you hear about a "new Janet record." People are ready to dance to her music. This shouldn't neglect any of her overall fanbase. Everybody should be able to get with this. Heard local pop radio station debuting it this morning on my way into work.

-

Oh and let's make sure she gets credit with every listen too....Official YT link...

I wanted to hear something more lyrical, im not a huge dance/club music fan so i was more interested in hearing something like 'shoulda known better' or 'the great forever'. I cant wait to hear this album, so far i love everything i've heard.

Even Rhythm Nation blazed through with "Miss You Much" and most of those singles were about having fun. While those songs are strong, I will be surprised if we were told they were singles just because they were in an early set list.

rhythm nation was kinda rare though, they really could have released any song as a single. singles are not really important for me anymore i just want a great complete album. i think she was planning on releasing 'the great forever' when she posted the snip, the fans reaction led her to change and go with 'burnitup', fans kept crying for a club song. janet basically confirmed this on twitter.

I hear you both. I think she will release something more lyrical later, maybe next. I think she's playing the long game here. I do think "Shoulda Known Better" will fulfill both needs. Its a little EDM as previewed in the concert and probably should sound great in a club or radio just as the single "Rhythm Nation" did. Dance music with a message.

-

And to your point Cinny...Due to a great album concept and good marketing, "RN" had few singles that were closely related to the album's theme. I mean, Miss You Much, Escapade, LWNDWY, Alright, etc. were not exactly conscious records. lol

-

As I mentioned earlier, people seem to be ready to dance to a new Janet record. Now they have one. We'll see how well they respond.

It's okay. I'm not feeling it like the other tracks I've heard. I hope this
works. The last song she did with Missy Elliot (Son Of A Gun remix) didn't.
Looking forward to the new cd after seeing her last Friday.

According to a press release, the album's themes include "Janet’s views on where we stand today as individuals and as the inter-related elements of a planet. Some of these relate to her convictions passionately expressed in Rhythm Nation 1814, including the need to bring things out in the open and to have a dialogue. The album also will mark the first time Janet Jackson has opened up about her brother Michael and with reflections concerning her youth."

The record continues Jackson's collaboration with producer-songwriter team Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Speaking about the project, the pair said:

It’s wonderful to be creating again with Janet. From songwriting, producing, arranging, singing, dancing, acting, she deftly does it all and truly personifies the word artist. Unbreakable is a gift to all of her fans who have steadfastly stood by her. It is a subject for conversation, a plea for compassion, and a call for action from someone who’s come a long way, but’s got a long way to go, and has much to say about it. In other words, if you want to know what’s on her mind you only have to listen.

Finally listened to BIU my observation theres a quick throwback to Miss You Much and You Need Me in the beginning. The track is VERY Ballroom Community Vogue Music with the BALLROOM CHANTS. It sounds so much better when play over big speakers.
