The OP asked for a simple format and that is what I did. If he or she would like to know why I feel as I do, I'd be more than happy to explain it them.

I think Purple Rain, which won Mr Nelson an Oscar, is a superbly written soundtrack to a

niche movie that became a global behemoth. Any time the world is taken in by an artistic

statement rendered by one who is essentially a niche artist, you have to give it props, good

or bad. That's why I can't rank Purple Rain as an overrated album.

Again, I'm not one to confuse "dislike" with "overrated."

I don't agree with some of the Michael Jackson lists but interesting lists regardless

It is your choice not to take my opinion at face value. It is what it is. I could write a dissertation about why I feel as I do and people here will still try to tell me I'm wrong so why bother?

I wasn't referring to you - not explicitly anyway - just in general. I didn't mean to cause offence, and that certainly wasn't what I was implying.
