I don't understand why everyone has put 'Dangerous' as MJ's best album. The New Jack Swing sound created is utterly dated and almost unlistenable and some songs are complete throw aways (Jam, She Drives Me Wild, Keep The Faith, Gone Too Soon). Heal The World could have been written by a three year old & Black or white has been played to death. The only songs I like are Why You Wanna Trip On Me, Remember The Time, In The Closet, Who Is It, Give In To Me & Dangerous. That's 6 tracks out of 14. Explanation, anyone?

well, I consider Dangerous the best album of Michael Jackson.

almost any, even the most legendary song from the 70's, 80`s etc. sounds like a child at it`s time.

I can`t name a single song of D. that I really dislike or hate
"Jam" .. yes, the lyrics are, well, very specific, but the song rocks, the music is very energetic and makes me move.
"Why You Wanna Trip on Me" ... one of the best "stop pressing me, bitches" song in MJ's career.
"In the Closet" ... the name of a more promising than the lyrics, but the song is melodic.
"She Drives Me Wild" ... filler, but decent
"Remember the Time" ... iconic 90s rnb song
"Can't Let Her Get Away" .. another filler, but not one that I never listen
"Heal the World" ... yes, it's a cheese festival, but this song perfectly fulfills its function, the lyrics and the message is clear, the melody is pleasant to the ear. song is universal. What's wrong with the world's anthems? and yes, they are always banal
"Black or White" ... his biggest hit in charts and I can understand why, very catchy song and a nice riff. Great and innovative video too.

"Who Is It" ... super song, one of his best.. beatbox, he did, video .. I just love everything that is connected with it.
"Give In to Me" ... no words enough to describe how much I LOVE this song, I became fan once heard this song and it always will be my number 1 in his discography. I like Three Days Grace cover too.
"Will You Be There" ... brilliant, though I could do without the long intro and the end ... incredibly spiritual song.
"Keep the Faith" ... I love it and I think the song is underrated
"Gone Too Soon" ... after 2009 it`s sounds in a special way, is not it? simple but beautiful lyrics, lovely melody, sentimental message, and the fact that the song was dedicated to Ryan, makes it even more sweet.
"Dangerous" ... I prefer the original version, but love this song

What I mean by dated, is that there is no spark in the song, the sounds in the music have no distinction and its simply boring.

The problem I have with songs like Gone Too Soon, Will You Be There, Keep The Faith & Heal The World is that I would never willingly listen to them, and it's not because their slow. Whilst songs like Jam, She Drives Me Wild & Can't Let Her Get Away aren't memorable.

This used to be one of my favourite albums of his, but it simply hasn't aged well.

I agree and disagree. I agree in the sense that Thriller can't be overrated if you compare to his other (lesser) works - the exception being Off The Wall. But I disagree in the sense that although the fact that the album was SO successful is a reflection on how good the album was, its success is - in a sense - slightly inflated by the fact that it had three monster singles (Billie Jean, Beat it, Thriller) whereas the rest of the album (excluding Wanna Be Startin Something + Human Nature) simply isn't as good. Despite the fact the album has obvious flaws, and is far from perfect and far from being the best album of all time, it is the best selling album of all time.

OFF THE WALL has always been his best album, even Michael said so himself as he stated OTW was his favorite album to work on and his best work

THRILLER was actually OTW scaled down in terms of song and dance

the world thinks he walked on water w/his dancing during THRILLER (which was off the charts), but he was a much funkier dancer during OTW...the world doesn't know it because we have such limited footage on that period....that's why I'm glad I was able to witness the Triumph Tour live which will probably never see the light of day on DVD

anytime an album reaches greatest selling ever status, there's no way it can be overrated

"Baby Be Mine" is "Get On The Floor" reincarnate

"Human Nature" is "I Can't Help It" revisited

"Lady In My Life" (his greatest slow jam) was the extension of "She's Out of My life"

the three huge songs on THRILLER stand above the rest because those songs had videos to support it but the rest of the songs were brilliant

THRILLER maintained the #1 spot for 37 weeks straight, that's over 9 months.....

if PYT was released today, it would blow out any song currently on the airwaves that's considered R&B which doesn't even exist anymore......

they rock the THRILLER single to this day during Halloween..it's automatic...lollll

THRILLER was Michael Jackson's signature achievement of his career and he spent the rest of his own career trying to surpass it, that says something....

THRILLER is the only album I can think of since that moment that had something to offer from people 8-80 years of age.....that's awesome.....

this reminds me of how the NBA has been hyping up Lebron James to the tilt and suggest he's better than Michael Jordan when they know in their heart he's not close

simply because of its cultural effect. Nobody's saying you must like Thriller; I think I'm only

But i think the jist of the overrated comment is simply because it's the biggest MJ album. So alot of people assume it's his best record cause of that.

I actualy know lots of people who have never taken a listen to Off The Wall & the only Jackson album they cared to explore was Thriller.

that's the thing, it's more than a good album, that was the culimination of 14 years of talent fuel shaped by culture...

that's why duccichuka mentioned THRILLER's cultural impact, it was no accident

I have no problem with someone preferring another album as their favorite, that's personal taste

but there's no way THRILLER was overrated....

when you achieve something out of the norm, unexplainable circumstance, and then you drop off the face of the earth w/another effort in sight

or when someone has to hype an artist up to build his/her stature and w/out it their lost...

what was beautiful about THRILLER, when it was released, it did so w/marginal promotion, it continued to build on momentum one amazing moment after another until it reach the stratosphere like a locomotive w/no end in sight

and by the time it did reach its zenith, we couldn't get enough of it as it would go on to sell a million copies a week..

What's going on is opinion. And in my opinion, it is good but there are better Prince albums. It's pop fluff to me with very few songs of substance. And I hate the song Purple Rain. Always have.

Yes, there are better Prince albums. Very few songs of substance? Do you count sex or love as 'substance'? What's wrong with Purple Rain? Is it the awesome guitar solo and the unparalleled vocals that bother you?
