Girl on Fire Album Cover, Release Date

August 23, 2012

Alicia Keys ignited a flurry of tweets on Thursday when she unveiled the cover art for her upcoming fifth studio album, Girl on Fire. "I'm crazy excited 2 share my album #GirlOnFire with u on 11/27!" Alicia tweeted, revealing the album's November 27 release date.

The Girl on Fire album cover is mostly black-and-white, save for Alicia's red "AK" symbol. The cover photo shows her peering into the camera, hands on her hips, dressed in a fitted black wrap dress and showing off her new short sleek hairstyle.

"Girl on Fire is about finding your voice, about being unleashed and about trusting your instincts and trusting yourself," Alicia says in a statement. "I can't wait to share it with the world."

The world won't have to wait too long to hear Alicia's first single, the title track, "Girl on Fire." She'll deliver it to radio and iTunes on September 4. You'll also have a chance to see Alicia perform the song live at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards on September 6.

Alicia found inspiration for her album in a few places, including London and Jamaica, where she spent time when she wasn't in her native New York. To create Girl on Fire, she called on her longtime songwriting partner Krucial, along with Babyface and writer/vocalist Jeff Bhasker.

She also teamed up with emerging artists, including British singer Emeli Sande and guitarist Gary Clarke Jr., as well as up-and-coming producers Pop and Oak and Jamie XX.

In a just-released YouTube music video, Alicia talks about bringing her friends and collaborators into the studio, and sharing her music and vision with them.

Not even going to be on the album. Nice try though. Anyway, I can't freakin' wait. One of the very few artist to come out in the 00's that I still enjoy.

How does this whore have 14 Grammys and Whtney only has 6? confused

Alicia is cool and all, but I think all her songs sound the same. Just like Beyonce.

Her mediocre piano playing doesn't make her any better than any other artist out now. Not feeling the new single either.

Her new single hasn't even dropped yet. If you're referring to 'New Day' that was a solo version of 50 Cent's new single.

...and I take Grammys with a grain of salt but they're more than just an award for a voice but the music as well, the latter is where Whitney comes up short IMO. At least Alicia's dad was never on the voting committee *sideeye Matthew Knowles*

Probably because she doesn't have much competition.

Prince has won just about as many Grammys since 2004 as he did the 1st 25 years of his career. If not more.

Plus, she's only put out 3 full albums over the past 20 years and only 1 of them being any good.

people need to jump off this already...this nonsense of how many grammy's someone has, and then in other threads post the grammys are meaningless and then in another thread post how could such and such not have one.

The inudstry now is so polarized since soundscan came in the game, that you have these kind of lopsided wins every time you turn around, and then again its not really new, shit Christopher Cross won a shit load one year for one record, so did TOTO and i love them, but get real they freaking swept a whole show practically, no one is deserving of that everyone from adele to norah to alicia to gaga to beyonce to whomever, no one deserves it but they get it depending on what is out there at their time

She gets a lot of hate here on the org, but I love her music.

I think she gets better with each album, I loved The Element of freedom.

That's nice, but she's kind of boring, she does the same thing over and over...hopefully she will do something different.

"Not Even the King" injects subtlety and elegance into her musicianship. An improvement over the lead single.

Really? That's too bad. That joint is hot, and I'm not even into Swizz Beatz. It's definitely good single material.
