Jodeci or Guy? To me this is a tie, but I will admit I am fascinated/repulsed by KCI'S head shaking when he sings. I don't get it. "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

Guy was defintely more innovative and were the front runners in the New Jack Swing era, but do like Jodeci..
I'll give the edge to Guy, just because of Teddy's Jam Pt. 1.

Guy. I love Jodeci, but Guy's debut album is better than anything Jodeci ever did. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

Oh, my dreams are now reality
Each and every time you are here with me The touch,
you give me with your hands
When you caress my skin I'm under your command
Girl you hypnotize me with your eyes
It took me some time,
but now I realize It's you, to whom which I belong
I love it, the feeling's getting strong
...........................................................
wow, I use to love that song......

"I Like" by Guy....All 7th chord progressions....
Teddy Riley, Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis, Prince, Al B Sure certainly influenced the sound of Jodeci(ie Devante).
The Guy and Jodeci albums had fantastic production, but I will be in the minority and go for the stylings of Devante as the harmonies and were soulful, street, lustful, and hopeful all in one go.

Guy had 2 great albums, Jodeci had one (debut). LOL. Jodeci's other 2 albums have some decent songs, though. I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

Guy, I guess. I never got into new jack all that much.
Jodeci however, I told you guys a couple of years ago I download a song from these fools, I listened to their song about a half dozen times and couldn't STAND it. HATED IT and I deleted it.

My vote goes to Guy. The genre known as New Jack Swing is better uptempo.

Got love for both, but if I had to pick one it would be Jodeci.

Actually, they had one great album, the debut one...
That second one, had it's moments, but it was full of fillers

You crazy: Diary of a Mad Band is, I think, a much better album than anything Guy ever did. Jodeci could swith it up; Guy rarely.
And Jodeci, for whoever said it, was not new jack swing - there is a vast difference between Teddy Riley and DeVante Swing. DeVante Swing is the progenitor of that Timbaland/Missy Elliott sound so his style wasn't close to new jack swing.
JODECI! | |

Side 2 of DOAMB is straight GARBAGE! EVERYTHING sucks. The only trac Ii can tolerate is "Gimme All U Got", ironically enough produced by Mr. Dalvin, and the intro to Jodecidal Hotline. And Side 1 of that album is only good for 3 songs maybe. DeVante just used the same 2 chord vamp for the entire album damn near. As for Jodeci being NJS you have a point kind of. Their debut is straight New Jack Swing, but DOAMB was the precursor to G-Funk, very inspierd by West-Coast hi-hop/ Roger Troutman. I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!
