Lady Gaga Debuts Nude Fragrance Campaign

July 17, 2012

Link

In the new ad for Fame, Lady Gaga's new fragrance, the singer is seen in stretched out and in the nude except for several strategically placed little men wearing what looks to be sumo wrestling outfits.

Before Gaga posted the picture of what she calls "The First Ever Black Eau de Parfum" -- it's black in the bottle but goes on clear -- she teased with the tweet "i won't lie I'm a bit nervous. its been a while since i've shared some work with you. But i'm so proud of Steven+I, we really did not sleep!"

The singer then tweeted the image along with a note detailing credits for the artwork which was photographed by Stephen Klein and, as if there was any question, "Model: Lady Gaga."

I like the picture, its different and interesting.

Lady Gaga's Nude Fragrance Campaign: First Look

Lady Gaga is known for her bold fashion statements. However, the very talented singer has taken her new fragrance ad campaign one step further, revealing provocative pictures on twitter that will be part of the advertising blitz.

The picture shows Gaga lying down nude, holding a bottle of her new fragrance with tiny men all over her body. She does wear shoes and mask though. The black and white photo has a caption 'Lady Gaga Fame The First Ever Black Eau de Parfum,' written in gold and all letters in caps.

The new fragrance named 'FAME' will be released in August globally by artists Haus Laboratories and Coty. The fragrance is said to be black in the bottle but the liquid becomes invisible when it hits the air.

"Fame is an illusion - if you really want it, anyone can have it," Gaga told WWD via e-mail onf the concept for the fragrance.

"It is the first-ever black eau de perfume and we use language like 'black like the soul of fame but invisible once airborne,' which makes the fragrance an allusion to the dark side of fame, the price of fame and the narcissism of fame," said Steve Mormoris, senior vice president of global marketing for Coty Beauty. "The soul of fame being black was the intellectual foundation of the color of the fragrance."

The fragrance was not easy to create.

It's unique because it's not pyramidal with a top, middle and bottom note," he said. "It has a trampoline structure - notes are rising at different rates that are quite random. Some accords will come out if you rub it, other accords will come out later. It has random propulsion and doesn't have a classic linear drydown. We call it push-pull, and it will smell different on different people. There is a different volatility for different notes, and they're of differing strengths. They work together harmoniously, but then they undergo metamorphosis on the skin, so you're constantly surprised."

Gotta say her perfume sounds quite intriguing. Looking forward to smelling it when it comes out. Hopefully it will be as interesting as it sounds.

The artwork is eye catching, if a bit in-your-face.

Somehow, I don't think that close-up image will be used in major department stores in the immediate future.

When asked by one of her Little Monsters on Twitter if Fame will be followed by a men's cologne, she answered thusly: "My perfume was designed for women, but a lot of my gay friends wear it."

I think the ONLY people that are gonna wear that, regardless of gender, are really young Gaga-fanatics.

I am a perfume fanatic..so naturally I shall be trying this. I must admit, I am curious.

But that photo used for the ad for it screams desperation to me. lol Still a nice picture though.

Fame Lady Gaga for women

Fame Lady Gaga for women

Lady Gaga presents her first fragrance in collaboration with her own The Haus Laboratories Paris and fragrance company Coty. The perfume, called Fame, comes out on the market in Sept 2012.

Fame is composed in an unusual way; the fragrance does not respect the pyramidal structure of the composition, but uses so-called "push-pull technology” by which the ingredients are mixed to highlight different aspects of each fragrant note at the same time, without any hierarchy.

The fragrance is built on three main accords: dark accord, sensual accord and light accord. The dark accord includes poisonous flower Belladonna and incense, which evolve into the sensual and opulent wave of honey drops, saffron and apricot. A floral veil of Sambac jasmine and tiger orchid embody light and beauty.

The liquid of the perfume is also innovative—it is colored in black but becomes invisible when it touches the skin. Just like the fame itself: "It’s black like the soul of fame, but invisible once airborn."

The bottle is designed in collaboration with Nick Knight, and advertising campaign is shot by Steven Klein. The fragrance is available as Eau de Parfum.

How the hell did they avoid having a classic linear drydown? confuse

That just boggles my mind, because All fragrances have linear drydowns.

This 'trampoline structure' just.....boggles my damned mind! lol

Anyways, I'm assuming this will make it absolutely hell to rippoff for designer imposters, which normally get the top notes correct, but sometimes get the bottom notes wrong. Here, they won't stand a chance of getting any notes correct. lol

I wonder if there will be a male cologne. hmmm

I think more than anything her intent with that artwork is to try and draw the attention of men now that I think about it. It's always seemed to me like Gaga's wanted to be a sex symbol for a long time now and it's like the more she doesn't end up on men's top ten list of who they want to fuck, the more she gets naked and the harder she tries.

And the imagery surrounding this whole perfume campaign is too dark and almost borderline disturbing. Not that I wear perfume in the first place, but if I did, I'd never see those posters and go, "Yeah, let me slather that all over myself".

Probably the last perfume campaign that made me actually want to wear the stuff was some commercial a random perfume where they had Madonna's "Love Profusion" playing in the background. Very light, pretty commercial.

Its because so many dudes dont know she has a penis. The ones who dare are in denial.

Heres video proof of penis popping action.
