They probably get a good portion from songwriting royalties but the Marley estate don't own the publishing. That's partially why his children started their own careers besides "spreading the message of Rasta" in different ways than their father did it...

I think it's because Chris Blackwell sold all of the songs in the Island label to Universal so the publishing control was bought by Universal. Rita Marley and some of her children filed a lawsuit against Universal not too long ago. Bob has like 11 known children born between 1968 and 1981.

If LH ever comes out w/ anything again...which I'm sadly doubtful of, I hope she goes more for an underground/alternative audience rather than the mainstream. Methinks mainstream fame and pressure was too much for her and explains much of her subsequent actions.

Who knows, she may have some great music waiting to come out.

I wasn't sure if it was 11 or 13. I also don't know when his first-born was born. I think his first-born was born in 1963 and that it was a daughter. His eldest son, Ziggy, was born in 1968. I gotta go to his website (Bob's).

OK, I checked, his first-born was born in 1963, a daughter named Imani by a woman he was with before Rita. With Rita, he had Cedella (1967), Ziggy (1968) and Stephen (1972). Same year Stephen was born, son Robbie was born with another woman, then Rohan followed on May 19th (so he'll be 40 Saturday), daughter Karen with another woman (1973), Julian Marley (born 1975), Ky-Mani (born 1976), Damian in 1978. Daughter Makeda Marley was born after Bob's death in 1981.

Also Bob adopted two of Rita's children, Sharon and Stephanie Marley. These were Rita's children with other men.

i disagree. she has plenty of her own fame and money. she was/ is VS mode land has several high paying contracts/campaigns. i think its the other way around. he's probly broke as a joke- i bet the publishing(split btween all 12 + doesnt come up to much. and lauryns children would only get a fraction of that.LH has been giggin lately, so im sure she keeping her ownbills paid.
