mj's copyrighted image cannot be used w/o the estate's permission.

one of mj's last press releases said something to the effect that he wished them well on their tour (the one they wanted him to be apart of in '09), but he was working on new music and would not be joining them. isn't it funny how these guys want to pretend he never said that?

i'm hoping that the estate will honor mj's wish. i'm hoping any attempt to use mj's image to help the brothers' sell tix to their shows will be blocked.

I agree, but wouldn't they just get permission from Katherine? Doesn't she control the estate?

No, she does not! She only gets money from it, but no one in the family is in charge (or have any say) of the estate.

exactly. katherine IN NO WAY controls the estate, soul. nor does any family member in spite of what jermaine says. john branca and john mcclain were the men who mj named to be in charge of the estate. katherine, joe, NOBODY has any say in the decisions, the deals the can make, and certainly not the licensing of mj's music, likeness or image. all john and john.

katherine is only a beneficiary, and a temporary one at that. mj may have stated in his will that she was to have 40% of the income from the estate in the event of his death, BUT it is left to john and john's discretion as to how much to give *her* to provide for her care and upkeep. she can't just spend it any way she wants. the estate recently got approval to put $30m into the trust fund for her, the kids, and charities. her 40% would give her $12m; but they'll probably only give her the income generated from investing that money, because at the end of the day, once she dies, whatever is in her trust goes to mj's kids. i'm sure john and john aren't going to deplete katherine's trust b/c she wants to dole it out to the rest of the family who aren't beneficiaries. in a way, her trust is only 'on loan' because ultimately everything goes to mj3.

No one in the family including Katherine has any final say as you say. However Jackie is a consultant according to Branca and McClain and has been working with the estate on many of their projects.

yeah, and i hope that if he suggests an mj halogram, they say 'no'. i wonder why he gets to be a consultant, anyway; i don't think mj was any closer to jackie at the end his life than he was anyone else, was he? so why would jackie be in any position to 'consult' about mj?

Ah, well... I don't think John Mcclain and John Branca were any closer to him than Jackie. Those two were Michael's employees, long ago, Jackie is his brother.

If Jermanie still can sing like this they will be fine. His vocals were impeccable here. He sings live over prerecorded background music. I like how he ad libs in the end even though the music ends...

Jermaine still sounds the same. Over the last few years, he's done several duets with singers in India. I wonder if he's going to play bass or just sing.

Well look at how ridiculously they behaved after Michaels passing?

I think that explains perfectly why none of them get a dime and John and John are running the show.

The fact that they wont even ACKNOWLEDGE Randy in interviews regarding the tour.. SAYS IT ALL there, a mess.

The promo for the show is nice

EUR Perspective: Time for the Holograms to Stop

May 3, 2012

Suddenly – like a bad episode of The Next Generation or a Total Recall deleted scene – the holograms are everywhere.

We all know that Tupac has already somehow released more albums dead than he has alive, but this most recent act was positively miraculous. Tupac emerged from six feet under to perform with Snoop Dogg at Coachella, leading to a massive amount of Twitter buzz and some enormous album sales. Next, the news emerged that TLC was planning on going back on tour with the dear departed Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez, using the same technology. It appears that – twenty years after Natalie Cole released the “Unforgettable” collaboration with her long-deceased father Nat King Cole – resurrection is all the rage.

Where is it going to stop? John Legend bringing Barry White, Luther Vandross and Teddy Pendergrass on stage for – literally – an all-soul concert? Will Curtis Mayfield and Isaac Hayes be serving as Lenny Kravitz’s backup singers? Is P. Diddy going to bring back Biggie for his next tour? How long is it appropriate before someone tours with the holograms of Michael Jackson or Whitney Houston?

This hologram craze has to go away, sooner rather than later. Nobody is denying the fact that the deaths of these artists – or Sam Cooke or Otis Redding or the dozens of other legends who were taken too early – were tragedies, or that the world would be infinitely better if they were still around, making music and touring. However, the use of these computerized graphics to bring them back from the grave cheapens their legacies. It might work for a one-off tribute (like in the case of the Tupac performance, apparently), but bringing them on tour comes off as particularly ghoulish. It’s sad, but these artists are all dead; let them rest in peace, and let our memories of them lie with the music they created and the performances they gave while alive – not as elements of a bad sci-fi film.

The brothers should filmed their performance at the Apollo Theatre and broadcoast as a tv special on some channel like ABC or Fox . They should talk about the experience of the apollo being their first major gig and if they have footage of their first performance there at kids then show it, and other singers were at the apollo when the jackson 5 first perform there talk about it, then sings some of their jackson5/jacksons tunes

Do they even show concerts on network TV other than Beyonce or Celine Dion? razz I don't think they're playing there, but a show like Austin City Limits on PBS would be good.

I honestly can't see any channel showing something like this. Those that run these networks and channels could carelss about these guys.
