Mary J. Blige DESTROYS National Anthem
She was so awful at the end the announcer had to cut her off!!
The worst version I've ever heard.

I am SO NOT A FAN of MJB!! I seriously doubted that, but I refrained from starting an argument about it on her page.

That was just bad. Sounded like homegirl just rolled out of bed.

Not surprised. She has made a few decent songs but she is far from what i would call a great vocalist. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

Everything was cool until Mary J went for the first high note.

The fucked up thing is she was the best performer of the whole weekend which included Nicki Minaj, Pitbul, Chris Brown, Ne-Yo, Flo Rida, Gym Class Eroes and Kenny Smith's daughter Kayla Briahna. PRINCE: Always and Forever

Haha, she started off alright. But then she did that screaming thing she does.

Well...
I suppose there's nothing wrong with being a little flat. Isn't that right, Rihanna?

[Chris Matthews] HA! I'm so glad she got booed for that mess. What makes it so funny is she obviously thought she was really doing something!
I guess Whitney just messed it up for everybody huh? [Edited 2/28/12 5:45am]

Damn Mary. She still ain't got no control yet? Does she even know her range? She was straight yellin like Alicia Keys at Whitney's funeral. [Edited 2/28/12 7:01am]

Yeah Kat thought she was KILLING it. In reality she was in all the wrong ways. So awful. 2012: The Queen Returns

I loved it soul is not supposed to be polished singing she sang it from the heart

One thing I love about that song is how its huge range of notes reminds us that many of today’s “singers” can’t actually sing.

You generous. | |

I think there's a difference in an imperfect yet soulful performance from the heart and singing out of your range to the point of yelling. There's no excuse for that in this stage of her career. She started off fine though.
Love those two women in your avatar btw

Exactly why I haven't been a fan of hers. I like a few of her songs from back in the day, but she's always been a studio singer IMO. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Brutal. I wish they would stop singing the song altogether. It is POINTLESS. [Edited 2/28/12 8:26am]

I like Mary but she does not have the vocal range to pull off a song like this.... I dont care... The National Anthem was WHITNEYS song... NOBODY I REPEAT NOBODY can touch Whitneys rendition.
It seemed like Mary was struggling to hit the notes.... she had no business singing the song.

She is a freaking comedianne. This was really just a problem of falling on deaf ears; everyone wants to be all serious about this stupid song. Rosanne put something out that was irreverant and really funny. ...better than having some "singer" come out and hack it to bits trying to act like Whitney.

i actually see the potential in Kat Deluna's voice. ALl she needs to do is work on her pitch and control.
WHy these singers dont practice their vocals is beyond me. Just because your signed to a label doesn't mean you dont need to keep your voice in shape with a vocal coach. [Edited 2/28/12 9:24am]
