I wonder do these singers know you can still pre-record your anthem? Whitney did and it almost made you think she didn't. lol That's the problem I think. No one gave them that memo. And I love Mary J. but not everybody can sing it lol

Let our boy show you how it's done in his OWN way:

cool

I knew you was going to pull out the secret weapon. nod

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I remember this like it was yesterday. Julius Erving stated that this was worth

the price of admission.

I do too. biggrin I remember my brothers and I being fixated; it was like an outer-of-body experience.

it still gives me chills biggrin

Speaking of Whitney, I loved this version she did at her 1991 HBO concert:

That was absolutely flawless as always touched

flag flag flag flag

I miss her already... sad We truly lost a great talent.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah! I remember her 1991 version, recharted in the Top 10 in 2001. Its endured and meant alot to many. Whitney's soared and Marvin's(my second fav) was sexy.

She and Rickey Minor both did their thing on this. Its amazing how moving it is when she does it. It almost transcends its original purpose. The arrangement was perfect for her. Her interpretation of this anthem is really a testament to her gift of song.

Stadiums need to stop allowing people to sing this song and just play Whitney's version, or, the standard orchestral version. That should be an official law.

Now see, she started out ok, but as so many singers try to do, she began to oversing. Mary is not a vocalist so she should be the last person try oversinging.

her off singing was fine for back in the day. But now, she thinks she in the same league as whitney, mariah, aretha, etc.
