Janet Jackson Doesnt Regard The grammy's..Never Has

An incredible Bbc radio documentary i came across ..probably the best..alot of unknown stuff were spilled

For example Joe Jackson making Jimmy/Jam and terry promise that the would make janet sound like prince..

How the label made back the $50mil record contract with janet just from the Janet album

Janet has never regarded the grammy's ..never thought wining one was a big deal

and alot of interesting stuff..definitely worth the listen

The part about Joe Jackson wanting her to sound nothing like Prince is pretty common knowledge I believe. Other parts I didnt know.

Umm...they failed. That album (Control) has Minneapolis/Prince all over it.

blunt music She has robes and she has monkeys, lazy diamond studded flunkies.... music blunt

Does'nt regard the Grammy's? I remember back in the day she sure showed up to collect them. Made speaches, fake cried, the whole bit. She even performed on there. I don't believe it one bit. She may not have regarded them since 2001...that I will believe. Having said that, she is one beautiful woman.

Being someone who has followed her career throughout the years I find few things new concerning her. However, the whole A&M thing surprised me. I mean, who plans to drop an artist after their last release sells multi-platinum? That's probably the biggest shock for me. Never heard that one before.

Janet appears to be more involved or more of the lead songwriter than I realized. I knew she wrote but not to the extent that Jimmy and Janet casually mentions here.

I know she's venturing into new things in film, but if/when she decides to record again I REALLY hope she's inspired. Although her legacy is intact, I'd like to see her really apply herself again in music. I think she lost her confidence in music. Considering all that's happened in her life since 2004, there should be plenty of water to pull from in her well.

Wishful thinking, I know.....lol

She is far from a puppet and has contributed as co writer for alot of her songs.

The way I heard it (granted the editing isn't the best in the world, mad choppy), sounds like in spite of the success of "Control," A&M decided not to renew her contract with them after RN.

I would think she wouldn't regard since she can't really sing. I am not saying all Grammy winners have been super good singers, but she would be better in dance and show competition rather than a singing one. Grammys are voted on by your peers not fans, so her winning one would be a bit much.

Milli Vanilli won grammys too, so why should singing be a factor in this discussion?

Change it one more time..

I hear ya but that criteria sure didn't stop them from giving away undeserving Grammys like candy the last decade or more. Oh, and didn't she already win five or something like that?

The five she's won in her caereer are probably enough for her. She's won for her videos and her music, but I will say that she has been ROBBED over the years for her albums at the Grammys. RN alone should have won some non-video Grammys, and don't even talk to me about The Velvet Rope. If RN had been released earlier, it surely would have gotten an Album of the Year Grammy nod.

There was a bidding war and she decided to go to Virgin.

I think 5 Grammys is a good achievement, 3 for music videos, and two for her songs, which she did have a hand in co-writing and were her biggest hits for those years. I really think she should have won something for an album at least once. If not album of the year, at least female album, pop/rock or r&b. I think Damita Jo and 20 YO were nominated for r&b album female or something, but I knew they wouldn't win. I find it hard to believe albums from female artists who no one cares about anymore would win and something like the janet. album or velvet rope doesn't even have it.

There are plenty of albums and artists who dont have any or have less than what they deserve...Likewise there are artists who have more than what they deserve... which alone has changed the merit of a grammy which is why nobody cares about them. They really dont mean anything.

Wasn't she nominated for album of the year with RN but ended up losing to Paul Simon's "Graceland" album? I'm not sure but I remember that album being nominated and being pissed afterwards.mad lol

Graceland is from 1986, so Control must have been the nominee. And that's a great album too.

Yeah, you're right. I got my timeframe mixed up. Rhythm Nation wasn't even nominated so I was way off lol Bonnie Raitt's "Nick of Time" won AOTY in 1990.
