I agree with Chaka Khan nod She's tellin' the truth that some of these people don't wanna hear

They sure don't wanna hear it.

My girl did not mince any words last night. Chaka called the industry "demonic"!!!eek Whoa! Hope she doesn't experience any fallout over that one!

I'm finding it hard to listen to Whitney's music since her passing especially her ballads-which is of course is huge chunk of her catalogue. Listening to her just makes me too sad. Funny because just a few days ago I was listening to "Queen of The Night", "Just The Lonely Talking Again", "I Have Nothing" and "For The Love of You" non-stop. These past few weeks i've really been into "Queen of The Night" and "For The Love of You" (Which has always been a fave of mine. I love her cover of this song). I can't listen to her now though. It's much too sad.

Can't believe that such a huge talent and such a spirit is no more. I can't believe Whitney Houston is dead.

On another note, I wish these channels like CNN would stop acting like "I Will Always Love You" was her only song. Whitney is one of the most successful artists ever and has had several huge songs. Of course "I Will Always Love You" will always be her signature song and it is one of the greatest vocal performances ever, but damn, the woman had other songs. I don't want the younger generation to think she was just "I Will Always Love You". She was much more than that.

The ballads make you want to cry as it is! It's hard for me to listen to any of them without crying cry

why does he have to make a public statement? for all we know he could have reached out to Cissy and the family in private.. I don't recall him ever making a public statment about his peers that have passed on.

Why does p have to make a statement. Its bad enough when all these celebrities are running around on twitter posting shit bout someone they don't even know. In this day and age I think it says alot more to keep silent than using someones death to promote themselves.

Why?

I don't think Prince is the type to make statements. Besides, I much prefer his silence to some of these the other alleged memorials and condolences.

For some if not many of them, it's more about the exposure than having any true, heartfelt feelings about Whitney. I wonder what they were saying about her when she was doing handstands at the swimming pool or whatever she was doing? I wonder how much concern they expressed?

As far as what people say about him when he dies, Prince just seems the type not to care too much.

He'll be dead... and based upon his beliefs probably in a better place, so why should he care?

To me, for all his eccentricities, Prince is less hypocritical than most, actually.

P don't need promotion, and he is on top of everyone, and Whitney was surely a peer. U don't release official statement 2 prove something to anybody, it's just to express that you are saddened by the situation and show respect. When JB died, he had something on the web, now he can't .

Prince I will always miss and love U.

What can Prince say that hasn't already been said?

I would imagine, he's not happy about Whitney's passing. I'm sure like a lot of people of faith, his only comfort is that she's in a better place--free to sing all she wants. Otherwise, I would think he's not happy how things turned-out for her... any more than Chaka is happy about it.

I don't think Prince has to say anything: as I said, sometimes silence says it all.

I agree with what you say. Official statements and funeral attendances by peers in showbusiness also gives them for once the opportunity to show them huble and normal as opposed to glitz, glmamour and stardom. As a Prince fan I surely wouldn't mind to hear Prince talk, sometimes this is what fans expect. He covered a song by Amy, now this is the last person I'd have really cared for. He shoulda been at the MJ funeral and JB..

He's a cold brotha..just sayin... lol lol

Prince never spoke about the deaths of his own parents, which I found rather strange. That said, I don't expect him to comment on Whitney's tragic passing.

I understand how you feel as a fan.

But then again, why feed the machine?

As far as Amy...I don't know... maybe he did that because the media didn't make a big deal about it? Maybe he felt it wouldn't be exploited?

But in general, I just think he doesn't seem to do what is necessarily expected of him. Besides, the media would make a big deal of it.. with Michael and JB if Prince did anything heartfelt or "true."

I disagree with that what U say, both of them were huge to take media attention away from them during that time

"Besides, the media would make a big deal of it.. with Michael and JB if Prince did anything heartfelt or "true."

He didn't care much for Amy, that's why he was okay to cover a song, and I am not dissing Amy or P here, official condolences only serve one purpose as I said before (not 2 prove anything to anybody but show your sadness and respect) and only if U truly mean it. Maybe Prince cares 4 Whitney, but not enough to make an official statement. I know some people they are like that!

Chaka said no way she was gonna be at that Party, Sheila was there and posted of her being in tears about it. Few hours later she was still at the party.

I am going off topic a bit, but what I want to say is some people are very easy with sending condolences, and some people only do when they truly mean it, that's their way of dealing with things like that.

Maybe Prince doesn't care enough, but that's him, which we can only respect!

Why would he speak about this? It's his private matter and none of the world's business, maybe fans cared about it, but other than that I don't find this strange at all. Whitney's passing is a different matter.

Therein lies the problem. He's not obligated to live up to your preferences or expectations. Sure it would be nice to know how he and others feel about certain things but Prince and others are entitled to their own feelings without sharing them with the world. They are entitled to their privacy. Why not let everyone grieve how they see fit. As someone else mentioned, Prince is more the type who'd write some music expressing his feelings than going to Twitter or including one of her songs in one of his sets during a show. Like he's done for Mike, JB and Amy.

Perfect example: Monica was more poised to do an interview on Whitney recently on E! Network, while Brandy wasn't. Brandy requested not to talk about it. You gotta respect that, even if you don't agree with it: http://www.eonline.com/vi...egacy.html

Shouldn't we just let poeple be? Maybe he's listening to Whitney's records in private, we don't know.

It's strange some people say how somebody should react on someone's death....he should do this, he should do that, he isn't obligated to do anything.

Like so many other artists who Lost their lives to drugs WHitney was surrounded by people who didn't have the artists best interests at heart. Whitney and her daughter were both in and out of rehab. Why was there any alcohol at all in the room? Well for all those sycophants surrounding Whitney the grave train has now come to rest. Whitney died broke and
Had to rely on the charity of Others including Clive Davis who loaned her over a million dollars. Who was watching out for Whitney and her daughter such that they showed up at a party before the
Grammies drunk?

Hopefully Whitney is at peace, a peace she couldn't find while alive.

New York – February 12, 2012 – Sony Music Entertainment today issued the following statement regarding Whitney Houston:

“Whitney Houston was an icon and a once-in-a-lifetime talent who inspired a generation of singers and brought joy to millions of fans around the world. She had a voice of unmatched beauty and power that changed music forever, and she leaves behind an indelible legacy of timeless songs that will never be forgotten. She also was an important member of the Sony Music family who spent her storied recording career with Arista Records. She will be greatly missed. Our deepest condolences go out to her daughter and her entire family.”

Cashing in.... like they did with Michael Jackson... i feel sorry for any artist that does not learn to play the game and get out of their contracts as soon as they have made a bit of money to keep them until old age....

Mike and Whitney got all the "show" ...... but did not find out until later that they had sold their sole to the "business" ...

Sad...

Oh, please... could you stop linking Michael to Whitney?? Two totally different stories and circumstances. And who's to say that the "business" is really to blame for anything? Fame might have been a problem, living under the scrutiny of the world might have been a problem, but poor clueless victims of the business?? Don't really think so. Besides, Michael was out of his contract.
