Gene and Kiss actually met Michael already when he was in J5 I read somewhere. Plus Gene was with Diana Ross for a while in the early 80's or something and he supposedly met Michael now and then at that time. I wouldn't be surprised if Mike actually complimented Gene for his work back in the days. Michael seemed like the type of guy who would say "I love your work". However what Michael really thought is another story.

Probably but not to the extent where he was a devoted fan. You can like someone's work and not really be a fan. That's what Katherine and the Global Live folks were indicating that he was.

I'd love to blame it on Joe. But that women went and beat up Joe's secretary, Gina Sprague, who apparently didn't even sleep with him. She just happened to be there. After I read that story, my days of thinking that Katherine Jackson was one of the only good Jacksons were over.

Katherine went Ike Turner on that poor woman.

I believe no matter what I will always have a soft spot for Katherine it’s clear she loved Michael but as always just a mess with this family they love that money.

I lost all of my respect for her after that.

There has probably been a constant struggle for power within the Jackson family for at least 30 years. My guess is that Joseph has lost more and more of his power over the years. He even called Katherine out in public post Michael's death because Katherine was the one with any real influence over Michael. Jermaine also said after Michael's death that Katherine is the one who makes the decisions. All the others can do is try to influence Katherine. Since all the brothers more or less went broke post Victory and since Janet is considered little sister and has been successful in staying out of the family business Michael was probably the one who primarly provided for Katherine (and through her some of the other Jacksons). Thus Michael and Katherine were the real power duo in recent times regarding the Jacksons. Now that Michael is gone the power struggle is probably worse than ever. It's easy to criticize one Jackson for not getting through to Katherine. Jermaine now says on twitter that he thinks it is wrong to take advantage of his old mother and Randy said similar things in the past about his parents being used by people. However there are probably many people whispering in Katherine's ears with such a divided and big family, let alone all high profile people linked to the family like Rowe, Sharpton, Jessie Jackson etc. Thus making it hard to get through.

Weather Jermaine now have genuin concerns or if he now tweets because of an own agenda trying to get fans on his side is impossible to tell. Perhaps a bit of both? I would not be surprised though if Jermaine now saw a chance to criticize the organizers of the tribute in order to get a better position for his upcoming book having fans on his side. Yet again Jermaine has never been a stranger to go against all his family. In a way I have to give him some respect in that regard although he in hindsight often makes the wrong decisions (like staying at Motown, Word to the badd)

However it's perhaps clearer than ever that the family is divided. They have often been going in different directions for years but the fact that Randy and jermaine in public go against their mother who they adore says something IMO.

Maybe if he wasn't so busy selling his cover of his brothers' classic and actually BEING there for his "81-year-old mother", Katherine wouldn't have to go through this but nah he and the rest of the Jacksons are clueless in doing that.

What makes you think that he hasn't tried? What makes you think that he'd get through to her? Remember there are 8 siblings, a lot of nieces, Joseph, a lot of outside people (some very high profile) whispering in Katherine's ear. Since they all seem very divided why would she listen to Jermaine and who says he hasn't tried? It's clear that she knows Randy's and Jermaine's position very well.
