Maybe if they put Omar Bhatti in the line-up the ticket sales will increase. After all, he is Michael's or Janet's secret son! lol

Janet Jackson Says She Will Not Attend Michael Jackson Tribute

*Janet Jackson said Monday she will not attend a scheduled tribute concert for her late older brother Michael in Wales because the show coincides with the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray, who is charged in the King of Pop’s death.

The singer’s one-sentence statement to The Associated Press does not criticize the show, as her brothers Jermaine and Randy have done, but cites the court case as her reason for not attending.

“Because of the trial, the timing of this tribute to our brother would be too difficult for me,” read her statement, which was released on what would have been Micahels 53rd birthday.

The show is scheduled for Oct. 8 in Cardiff, Wales, and the singer’s mother, Katherine, and some of her children are scheduled to attend.

Organizers of “Michael Forever — The Tribute Concert” have struggled to line up top-name acts and have been criticized by fans and the late singer’s estate for multiple reasons, including its costly tickets, timing and remote location. Fan groups from around the world have called on organizers to cancel the show.

Christina Aguilera, Smokey Robinson, Cee Lo Green and a videotaped performance from Beyonce are the biggest bookings so far. Organizers had to rescind an offer to the band Kiss after fans and Michael Jackson’s estate noted that singer-bassist Gene Simmons had harshly criticized the pop singer over the years.

Opening statements in the involuntary manslaughter trial of Dr. Conrad Murray are scheduled to begin on Sept. 27. Murray, who has pleaded not guilty, could face up to four years in prison if convicted.

Authorities allege he gave Michael Jackson a lethal dose of the anesthetic propofol and other sedatives in the bedroom of his rented mansion on June 25, 2009.

Jermaine and Randy Jackson issued a statement on the day the concert was announced, saying Murray’s trial took precedence over other events.

“There will come a time and place for an amazing and deserving tribute to Michael,” the brothers’ statement read. “But we feel that the most important tribute we can give to our brother at this time is to seek justice in his name.”

Me too, her silence on this tribute spoke volumes to me, I'm not surprised she's not supporting this either. Kinda funny tho that she released this statement on his birthday...maybe that's her birthday gift to Michael lol

They AGAIN changed their FAQ sheet to match what Chris Hunt said in his statement

Wow, how serious can an organisation be if they change their faq sheet more often than they change their underwear...

So for the fans of the artists performing... if they then hoped that they'd sing their own hits as well as Michael's songs... too bad for them if they bought tickets with that in mind... And what do they mean by songs that had special meaning for Michael?? beyonce's latest hits, yeah sure... disbelief

Still no fanclub were contacted for this ''conference call'' between GL and the fan clubs to try to 'discuss' about their issues... Just more BS from them.. they really think MJ fans are that stupid... wow.

Those people are incredible...

Yes, tomorrow... Nobody at MJJC were contacted to take part, and nobody knows of any fanclub that has been contacted...

They're just gonna do the same they do with their facebook page... Ask their people to portrait fake fanclubs who look against the concert at first but then with GL's explanation, are finally so excited about the concert... It this feckery happens (the conference) I bet 100$ they're not even gonna ask the IMPORTANT questions, like where the charity money goes, in which percentage, why are the kids appearing in the terms and conditions of the concert, why do people don't have to pledge to charity anymore but they still announce it as a charity concert, why they choose to do it during the trial when the millenuin stadium isn't booked for the next 6 months (and more), why they first hide Latoya's involvement and then, when we discovered her company was 100% in it they admitted, and who had the KISS brilliant idea?

They are disgusting...

Well, there is some good news about this concert....

PREGNANT BEYONCE
My Fetus and I WILL Honor MJ

0829_beyonce_EX-01

Beyonce isn't going to let a little thing like a FETUS get in the way of her October 8 MJ Tribute Concert gig -- TMZ has learned ... the mom-to-be still plans to bust out a song and dance for the King of Pop's tribute show.

Reps for the concert confirmed -- Beyonce is still slated to sing via satellite -- saying the "pregnancy will not affect her performance".

Beyonce is rumored to be nearing the 4 month mark in her pregnancy -- and if the rumors are true, she'll be a solid 5 months preggo when she performs her favorite Jackson 5 song for the concert.

Fun Preggo Fact: According to WebMD, women who were physically active before pregnancy should be good to continue with moderate exercise for the duration of the pregnancy ... as long as any potential "abdominal trauma" is avoided.

*********************************************************************

Oh Happy Day. Aint that just wonderful? Beyonce and her unborn child will still pay tribute to MJ! touched My faith in this concert has been restored! #sarcasm

Global Live Events Fail to Contact Any of the 35 Fan Forums Ahead of Proposed Press Conference

Global Live Events Fail to Contact Any of the 35 Fan Forums Ahead of Proposed Press Conference

Global Live Events, promoters of the scheduled Michael Jackson tribute concert ‘Michael Forever’, have further angered fans after they apparently failed to contact ANY of the 35 MJ fan forums following their promise to hold a global ...onference.

It was ahead of news that Michael’s youngest sister Janet would be the third member of the family who refused to attend due to the timing of the gig, as well as the booking of American RnB singer Ne-Yo.

Last week Juliette Harris, a spokeswoman for under-fire GLE, spoke to the BBC in an attempt to reassure fans that the concert would be going ahead – and that the promoting company would take on the disgruntled MJ supporters who heavily oppose the concert. But, the move unsurprisingly looks like it was a simple PR stunt as none of the 35 different clubs that addressed the company wit...pen letter were contacted.

A post on the Michael Forever Facebook page by ‘Mjsim Fansforum’ reads: “All users: We confirmed that none of the 35 fansclub in signing the letter of protest to the Michael Forever , was contacted by Global Live on the conference scheduled for today.”

It was naturally followed by a swarm of comments from more unhappy Facebook users, including Jeffery Glenn, who commented ‘It’s a disgrace. End this fiasco now.’

Among the fans who won’t be attending, the youngest member of the Jackson family, Janet, released a simple one-sentence statement revealing that she won’t be appearing at the concert.

“Because of the trial,” Janet wrote, “the timing of this tribute to our brother would be too difficult for me.”

This comes ahead of news that one of GLE’s “two or three major artists” which it had promised fans turned out to be 31 year-old R&B/pop singer Ne-Yo – another mediocre addition to a mediocre line-up.

What do you think of the failed press-conference? Is Ne-Yo big enough to be considered a “major artist”? Tell us what you think in the comments section.

A Tribute to Jackson Riles Fans and Family

It seems that nothing involving Michael Jackson or his fractious family is ever free of controversy, even two years after his death.

FOR IT: Tito Jackson

The most recent flashpoint is a tribute concert to be staged in Wales in October. The plans have divided the Jackson family, pitting Janet Jackson and two brothers against their mother and four other siblings. The Jackson estate has refused to give its blessing and has raised questions about the promoter’s charitable intentions. Fan groups are up in arms over high ticket prices and what they see as sloppy planning; their ire reached a peak when it was announced that a rock singer who had openly accused Mr. Jackson of molesting children was on the bill.

“This is the one and only time we can do this, and they are not doing it right,” said Gary Taylor, the president of the Michael Jackson Community, a fan organization in Britain with 80,000 registered members. “This is totally against what Michael would do.”

Feelings about the concert have gotten so raw that the promoters are holding a conference call with the leaders of fan organizations on Wednesday.

Chris Hunt, the British film producer who is the driving force behind the concert, said his company had been the victim of “disinformation that is being spread around.” He promised that the event, at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, the Welsh capital, on Oct. 8, would be an extravagant show worthy of Mr. Jackson. He disputed the charge coming from fan organizations that he and a few members of the Jackson family were seeking to profit from Mr. Jackson’s celebrity.

“No Jackson is going to get rich off this event,” he said. “This is not a money grab.”

Mr. Hunt said a portion of the profits from the concert would go to at least two charities that Jackson supported: AIDS Project Los Angeles and the Prince’s Trust. He said the charities would receive a fixed sum and a percentage of the proceeds. The organizers say they are also setting up a $100,000 trust fund for Jackson’s children.

He declined to say precisely how much of the proceeds would go to charity, nor would he say who are the investors in his production company, Global Live Events, which he formed in the spring, or how much they expected to make. “It’s not automatic the concert will make much of anything,” he said. “We are not announcing numbers at this point.”

The lack of a concrete commitment to the charities has troubled some fans. Ticket buyers were asked when they registered online to give an amount to charity above the ticket price, which ranges from $90 to $300, leading some fan organizations to wonder if the event was a for-profit concert in disguise.

Mr. Jackson’s estate raised similar concerns in an Aug. 15 letter to the promoters, demanding to know who will share in the profits. A lawyer for the estate, Howard Weitzman, wrote in the letter that “we are concerned that the concert is piggybacking on Michael’s good name and charity.”

The promoters never contacted the executors of Mr. Jackson’s estate about their plans, lawyers for the estate said. Mr. Jackson’s family has little control over his estate, because he cut his siblings out of his will and set up a trust solely for his young children and his mother, Katherine Jackson. A judge has appointed John Branca, who was Jackson’s lawyer, and John McClain, a music industry executive, to manage the estate’s assets and debts; they do not need Katherine Jackson’s approval for business decisions.

Mr. Hunt, who became close to the Jackson family while filming a television documentary about Michael Jackson in 2006, said the idea for the concert was born at a meeting last September with La Toya Jackson, who is firmly behind the event. He later decided to take on the project himself, then approached Jackson’s mother and won her approval. Mr. Hunt said he didn’t contact the executors because he thought he had the family’s approval.

The executors have made it clear through their lawyers that Mr. Hunt and his company cannot use any of Jackson’s intellectual property, including his name, his photographic image or his music videos. (The concert is called “Michael Forever: The Tribute Concert,” and ads for the event have no photos.) The musicians performing at the concert — including Christina Aguilera, Ne-Yo, Smokey Robinson and Cee Lo Green — may sing Mr. Jackson’s songs, as long as it is a one-time tribute, lawyers for the estate say. All are being paid for their performances.

But Mr. Hunt takes the position that intellectual-property laws in the United States do not extend to Britain, so he argues that he can use images of Mr. Jackson as long as they are not broadcast in the United States. He also intends to make a documentary film of the concert, he said.

FOR IT: Katherine Jackson (with Prince Jackson)

The fact that the promoters never tried to enter a partnership with the Jackson estate has angered many fan organizations, and 35 of them sent an open letter to the promoters last week saying the concert was “doomed to fail.”

“We reckon without Michael Jackson’s estate at the helm, this tribute is nothing more than a money grab for the investors,” said Nathalie Smythe, a founder of Fans United for Michael Jackson’s Legacy. “They wanted to avoid sharing the profits.”

The timing of the concert has also been a point of contention. Jermaine Jackson, a sibling who tried unsuccessfully to organize his own tribute concert in 2009, has objected to staging the concert in Wales during the involuntary-manslaughter trial of Dr. Conrad Murray, the cardiologist who was with Jackson when he died in June 2009. He has been joined by Randy Jackson and Janet Jackson in boycotting the event.

“Because of the trial, the timing of this tribute to our brother would be too difficult for me,” Janet Jackson said in a statement on Monday, which would have been her brother’s 53rd birthday.

Mr. Hunt said he had initially chosen the October date because the trial had been scheduled earlier, but when it was delayed until the fall, he could not change the date without incurring a financial loss. He noted that the concert would be held on a Saturday when the trial was not in session.

Mr. Hunt has hired Paul Ring, an executive in La Toya Jackson’s Ja-Tail Enterprises LLC, to help organize the show. Mr. Hunt says neither La Toya Jackson nor the other siblings supporting the event — Tito, Marlon and Jackie — have a financial stake in his Global Live Events.

Beyond questions about money, Mr. Hunt also lost the confidence of many fan organizations when he announced that the rock band Kiss would perform at the concert. For diehard fans it was a huge faux pas because the frontman for the group, Gene Simmons, has said that he believed Mr. Jackson had molested children despite his acquittal on child-abuse charges in 2005.

Mr. Hunt has since announced that Mr. Simmons will not perform. But the damage to the concert’s standing with fan organizations was already done.

“It’s clear they have not done any homework,” Mr. Taylor said. “They had no clue about the person they are doing the tribute for.”

I guess what I was trying say was they'll be better off cancelling it themselves versus being forced to because of low ticket sales. Save the embarrassment. razz They would still have to pay in full whatever their rental rate is regardless of selling the venue out or not, if they wait until the actual show date. They will lose major money if they'd continued on with this charade and the people don't actually make the purchase. Keep in mind all of the accommodations (flights, hotels, etc.) they're probably promising the acts. They will take a major "L" lost for this lol And I don't care how they're trying the sell this thing, somebody was going to make money wink

They could return all of their deposits, cancel and not lose as much money as they would if they were to continue on with it. IMO.

So..

If they pick me to ask them a question, what should I ask? smile

(Even if it's the PR company an NOT GLE that'll be answering... or since it's pacific Time Zone, maybe they'll get Katherine crying on the phone... lol)

As much as everybody can suck, me including probably since MJJC (Gary) said they would not participate nor register for the conference call and I said I thought it was a bad idea, then I registered my group and now I'm a bad girl for not approving their decision, I'm still glad MJJC had the chance to be cited in the article, cause, still, it is the biggest MJ fangroup and for once most of its member agree on a subject, i think this has to be known by more people.

lol

Yeah, I love Graffiti Bridge movie, so what? ''Oooooooooooh Montreal, say it!''
If you can't be nice to someone on the net, you probably ain't worth much talking to in real life either.

Yes I'm glad people agree on this subject...But there were many things in the past regardless of this concert where Gary too made me go WTF....Me im in the Janet Randy Jermaine boat in this whole thing...although I know Jermaine would love to jump at any opportunity to use Mike's name/fame for himself.
