Jamie Foxx Hosting Michael Jackson Tribute

Us Magazine - 35 minutes ago

Gone but not forgotten!

Michael Jackson passed away in 2009, but his legacy lives on. On Oct. 8, Jamie Foxx is hosting -- and performing -- at the Michael Forever Tribute Concert in Cardiff, Wales.

"I am truly honored to be working with Global Live Events and the Jackson family members in participating in this epic event," Foxx, 43, told Us Weekly exclusively. "Michael was larger than life and I have admired him, honored him, joked about him but always loved and respected him... I hope I honor his legacy in a way that would make him laugh and cry."

Also participating in the event? Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Smokey Robinson, The Jackson Brothers and Leona Lewis.

Michael Jackson Tribute Concert Offers Buy One Get One Free; Desperation Grows

Update: In a sign of further chaos, the tribute organizers have abruptly canceled the buy one get one free ticket promotion. Stay tuned for more updates.

In July told you about how (part of) the Jackson Family announced the Michael Jackson tribute concert -- scheduled for October 8 in Wales -- in the most obnoxious way possible.

In August we broke news about the host of problems the event is having; the show takes place at the same time Jackson's doctor will be tried for manslaughter, MJ's children are more or less contractually obligated to attend, the estate is trying to sink it, and the fans hate the idea of it.

Oh, and the line-up is extremely weak. At least if you're not into Alien Ant Farm.

Now it's become increasingly clear how desperate the organizers are to fill the 75,000 capacity Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
Starting today, if you buy one ticket you get another one free. While that sucks donkey gonads for couples and groups who've already dropped big cash for tickets, it's excellent news for on-the-fence locals considering traveling nearly a full day to observe folks like Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green. (Because, when do you ever get to see them besides always?)

The latest addition to the line-up is rap and bullshit crooner Ne-Yo, who's now listed third on the bill, despite the fact that he's mainly known for ripping off Kanye West's "Flashing Lights" with his song "Miss Independent."

Oh, but there's more.
The artist who gets second billing? Beyonce, who would actually be a pretty good get except for the fact that they didn't actually get her. She'll be appearing by "video," which is sort of like the 1950s equivalent of a live feed.

But again, in the making lemonade department, those inspired to journey 5300 miles for Sasha Fierce on television can bring a friend. It looks like a pair of standing room tickets will now cost you about 60 pounds, which almost sort of sounds like a bargain.

Still, if you want our advice, you should probably hold off, at least for now. Tickets will almost certainly be further discounted before this thing is over; that is, if it's held at all.

It's fair to say that, in this case, the late bird will probably get the worm.

[This thread has gone on long enough. It's veered off track so many times, and is now pretty much canceled. I am locking this one up, as it has become irrelevent. I don't mind if you start another one in regards to it actually happening, or updates, but not here. Oh, and people, please stay on topic and stop all the negativity. There will be no baiting or flaming! lock - June7]
