I know, right.

Left-Eye juggled balls on stage over a decade ago. So what?

I'm about tired of seeing every high energy singer with overies being likened back to Janet by her fans, who remind me of Little Richard insisting what he did before someone else: "I am the originator...I am the innovator...they all got it from me..." If Beyonce is anything like any female singer before her, it's 60s era Tina Turner, with a dash of 70s era Donna Summer. Not Janet Jackson.

I agree. Most of the fans are just trying to keep her relevant with the times with all these petty comparisons. lol No shade.

no one is trying to keep janet releavant, cause she been there done that ain't got nothing to prove unlike beyonce.

so stop throwing shade at ms janet. YES its shade...

no one said janet invented that idea, we said she was the first that we remember doing it, didn't feedback come out 2008???

beyonce copies WAY too much, its ridiculous. at this point she makes people look for things she copies cause she does it too much... How many things janet has done in her career has she Identically copied off of someone????

Hell the highlight of the performance wasn't even how she performed, it's when she and Rihanna lip-locked. lol

I didn't even see that part. Just saw the pics. lol

I'm actually surprised how much of a better performer Rihanna is next to Britney.

Considering how Britney has chosen not to dance (mixture of fear of injury/just not in the mood anymore), it's not that surprising. lol

It just hit me who she is reminding me of and that is Whitney Houston. Not necessarily singing or perorming, but in her presentation. Bey is presented to the public as this perfect person, but you can see that there is something else beyond the surface.

We now know what Whitney's was, now. She and Bobby had a lot in common.

You know, I looked at Jay Z in the beginning of the show in the audience, and he did NOT look happy at all. I can only hope there are no serious issues for her this decade in her personal life, cause the perfect family image deal has been going on for a very, very long time, and from little hints over the years over things she has said in interviews or whatever, I would not be surprised if there was something we don't know, like issues with feeling controlled or abuse or whatever, and Matthew being a showbiz dad like Joseph though we've all heard it.

And yet, as usual, he was grinning like the Cheshire Cat when Rihanna was on stage.

I can't stand how he does that. confused

Devil's advocate, when Beyonce thanked him as her best friend, he was all biggrin . lol He might've been laughing too idk... I think we're going too deep thinking there was trouble in paradise. Hell I considered their marriage a marriage in convenience really. Glad Jay cut off that Chia Pet off his head though.

I agree. J did look a little "sad" last night. She also seemed a little timid about mentioning his name.

I hope there are no issues in their relationship that aren't too over the top, but you never know what goes on behind closed doors.

i heard jay and beyonce have threesomes kind of like an open marriage or swinging. But yes i do believe it, and i could imagine beyonce as bisexual.

Well, I think that's 'cause he knew the camera was on him, whereas with Rihanna it always looks like pure emotion. I mean, he barely applauded when Beyonce was done with her performance, but was clapping like mad for Rihanna....It's always the same situation with them at award shows.

And I don't think there is any trouble between B and Joe at all. Beyonce would most likely be so distracted/naive/oblivious/in denial that she wouldn't even be aware of him cheating anyway (if/whenever he does). disbelief

What is a millennium award and why is Beyonce getting one?

Mj_beyonce

Beyonce Giselle Knowles is a pop legend. In her 10+ years in the music industry, Beyonce has outworked, outtwirked and outperformed many of her peers with ease and skill. She's sold countless albums, won 16 Grammys and she deserves almost every accolade she's been awarded. But Billboard's decision to a...nium Award is a headscratcher.

We're only 11 years into the new millennium and we've already decided to crown Bey the queen of the next 1,000 years?

Of course, Beyonce isn't the first artist to be awarded with a seemingly bizarre "millenium" award. Michael Jackson famously got a "millenium" award at the 2002 VMAs, or at least he thought he did. (Jackson fans will still argue that MTV pulled a switcheroo on Michael) But he actually got a real life millennium award from the World Music Awards in 2000.

Mariah Carey was also crowned the "best selling female artist of the millenium" that same year by the World Music Awards. Keep in mind that Soundscan only started tracking sales data in 1991, which means that Mariah only began "competing," if you will, in the last 9 years of the millennium. Also, take into consideration the fact that "records" of any form were only sold in the 20th century, rendering the "millennium" part of the award is pretty meaningless. Even Mariah herself seemed stumped about the accolade in her acceptance speech.

The intent behind these awards is obvious: Deify a favorite pop star by rewarding them for their entire body of work way before they die. It's red meat for the base and the bigger the star honored, the larger the draw in audience. It's a vanity award, really. But you could say that about most award shows. Unless you're Kanye West. Who, as we all know, takes awards shows very, very seriously.

Beyonce_sla

The World Music Awards waited until the end of the millennium to dole out their awards last time, but it appears that Billboard wants to jump ahead of the pack and crown Beyonce the best at the beginning of the millennium rather than waiting for 2999. "Single Ladies" and all of its leotard glory would surely be a distant, faded memory at that point in time. It'll be the equivalent of renaissance music to future generations.

It's possible that Billboard doesn't mean to crown Beyonce as THE artist of the millennium with their award, but then again that's exactly what the name implies, so that's their fault for the misconception.

Perhaps we should just stick to awarding artists for a decade worth of work. Heck, we can even deal with centuries, cause you can argue that Michael Jackson was indeed one of the greatest artists in the last century. But trying to crown someone for the past or future thousand years is one leap too far. It's like calling an album the "Best Album in the Whole Galaxy." It's too big, too broad to have any real meaning in the moment that it's being given.

If we're gonna make up awards for Beyonce, how about "Best Hair Flip While Standing In Front Of a Wind Machine," "Lace Front Artist of the Year" or "Best Use of Bedazzled Costuming by a Pop Star." Just cut this millennium nonsense out.

That Britney/Rihanna performance was tacky... i mean Britney as many said was like a robot, Rihanna's live vocals she sound's bored and uninspired. She pranced around like she was waiting to take a piss it was just... i thought a woman with 10 number 1's and all that stage presence would do more then that.....

Maybe it was Beyonce who posted that under a fake account lol Or daddy Knowles.

Speaking of Bey's "history making, original" performance, Layzie posted this link in another thread:

Looks like Beyonce was inspired by this performance hmmm
