I think that Janet has had more influence of female artists than Madonna, dance moves and all.

I think they look at Madonna as she is the biggest female star, but not to take any notes from her.

Madonna is a not someone I would look up to as a performing artist.

[Edited 3/9/11 14:50pm]

I think that Female Artist "Idolize" Madonna's Career. But as far as Entertainment and Performances, Janet is the way to go. Gotta Love them Both, But seeing that Madonna was More controversial opposed to Janet who kept her life private, Madonna of course will become the bigger star.

Janet is Kinda Like Beyonce. Beyonce does the damn thing on stage, And you'll never hear from her again until it's time for another show and keeps her personal life private. Lady Gaga and Britney are Just Controversial as hell. I remember when I was younger all you heard on the news and Tabloids was Britney! NOW all you hear is Gaga! Catch my drift?

The Only Huge Controversy Janet caused, was the Superbowl.

I agree with this totally.

Britney Spears is full of shit to say that Madonna is THEE person she's molded herself after from day one. Pure shit. The girl has been nothing more than a Janet Jackson facsimilie from day one, and not a thing has changed. Her dancing style, choreography, videos, stage shows, photographs etc. SCREAM Janet--not Madonna. I get it, she's a white girl with blonde hair who uses her sexuality to the hilt. Fine. But those are the only things about her that are comparable to Madonna. Everything else is Janet all the way. When Britney yells "SING!" in her songs--Janet has already done it. When Britney luxuriates in a pool in a video called "Everytime"--Janet has already done it. When Britney performs complex choreography on tour or in a video--Janet has already done it. When Britney shot her "Overprotected" video in the lobby of the Bitlmore Hotel in L.A., Janet had already shot "Son of a Gun" there...

I remember some E! special on Britney several years back, when JC Chasez mentioned how they all used to call Britney "Little Janet" and Christina "Little Mariah" during the Mickey Mouse Club years, because Britney was always watching Janet videos and mimicking her movements. And when Britney and Justin attended Janet's MTV ICON special, you could see the look of admiration on her face as the show progressed. She also name-dropped Janet in the behind-the-scenes special of her Circus tour, saying how she loved the way Janet's staging was in her show (yes, Britney was in the audience at the L.A. stop of the Rock Witchu Tour). These chicks need to just fess up and admit that Madonna is not the end-all be-all of inspiration, and that Janet is just as influential. It ticks me off that she never gets the credit she deserves, mostly from the industry. Anyway, this video pretty much sums up who Britney's more obvious inspiration is...

The big deal is that she needs to give credit to the person whom she constantly borrows from.

Nobody "needs" to do anything. I don't think it will make the least bit of difference whether she gives credit or be coy about it, the fact that Janet's influence is pronounced says it all and it should be enough.

And like SoulAlive pointed out earlier, Janet is better off not taking anything from this wreckdum.

It's not about Janet taking anything from her, it's just that she should own up to it. It's akin to, for instance, if Usher or Chris Brown were to say "I've patterened my career and stage persona after Jimi Hendrix" when you know full well that MJ is their inspiration.

Thank you, you just made my point. I already know and clearly see Janet as a huge influence on her, whether she owns up to it or not doesn't make any difference and it shouldn't be an issue. It's only basic decorum from her end, and if she lacks that, its on her.

I honestly couldn't care less what she said. I'm basically tired of it. If these artists think these artists influenced them, they're free to say that. It ain't the end of the world. We all know Janet played a part in influencing that girl but she's far from the only one IMHO.

And the odd part is the only people that compare Britney to Madonna is the Media! Music Critics have always said that Britney was a reminiscent of Janet.

But Anywho, Listen to the beginning of this clip.

So I'm not to sure why she said she only emulated Madonna at the begining of her career. But Oh well. She's Not the Only person who copies Janet, But atleast the Other "Knock offs" own up to it lol

What fanbase would that be? All three of them...Janet, Madonna and Britney, draw a massive gay crowd. They all have mixtures of races who love them.

It's the same old story. White musicians copying Black musicians. Soon as they become

megastars they refuse to give credit where credit is due.

Back in the day white artists such as Elvis, Led Zeppelin, and many other white musicians use to steal songs & dance moves from black artists. It's easy to say who cares who gets the credit from a white point of view because their never the victim in the situation. shake

If you copy and steel people's shit at least give them credit.

It wouldn't shock me if Justin Timberlake gave John Cash all the credit for his singing style and dance moves.

To be honest Gaga channels Madonna a lot clearer than Britney ever did. Whenever I watch a LG video a bell goes off in my head that usually goes, "Madonna...been there...done that." There's obviously influence with Britney as well but it's a lot less pronounced. Gaga, however, is a straight up jack. Stevie can see it. She's just purposely trying to be even more provactive to "outdo" Ciccone.

Spears is more Janet inspired, from the choreography in her videos and live performing, her stage presence, that charisma. I think the only reason people don't make the connection is because she's a white girl that's a big enough star. But she's basically one of her heirs along with a Ciara. I've even seen the public do the Beyonce = Janet thing when they've really got nothing in common. It's just that they're both black woman. Beowulf is Diana Ross/Tina Turner. She's benefitted as a result of her knocking doors down but there's nothing "Janet" about her in her music act.

Lol, I don't think anyone's making it a big deal. At the end of the day - Britney is just a product. But most are going to be all WTF!? when she ignores the fact that her career was molded after Janet's. That's kinda like Chris Brown or Usher ignoring the fact that their careers were molded after Michael Jackson's. It's way too obvious.

Let's Not Forget, They tried to compare Janet to Madonna back in the day. I dont how many times I heard this Line "The "Janet" Album copied the "Erotica" Album because she was talking about sex". As If R&B acts weren't talking about sex before Madonna and Janet both made their debuts lol .

I Just find it sad that unless stuff isnt brought into the "Pop World", It never existed.
