Janet Jackson's 'True You,' New York Times Bestseller

Ms. Jackson has topped the charts again but this time as an author. The singer-turned-writer's self-help book, True You, recently ranked number one on this week's New York Times Bestseller list. Read an excerpt from the top-seller here.

Marked as a "journey to finding and loving yourself," Jackson's book chronicles her struggles with weight loss, self-esteem, and living a happier life. The singer's book is currently the top-selling hard cover according to the New York Times.

In an except from her book, Jackson candidly opens up to readers about her journey to self-love and why she chose to pen her experience:

"I want this book to make a difference," she writes. "It's important that I present myself just as I am. So I must tell you right away that I'm no expert. I have no psychic powers and I sure don't possess any secret wisdom. I'm just Janet. I have strengths, weaknesses, fears, happiness, sadness. I experience joy and I experience pain. I'm highly emotional. I'm very vulnerable... Like everyone, I have talents, but with those talents have come challenges. This book is about meeting the challenges that face all of us."

Well, it's not just the body for me. I love the natural hair-style, make-up. She looked feminine, natural, beautiful. I don't like the crazy looks ala Velvet Rope etc.

Highly unlikely since it's a tour celebrating her #1s. She may switch up the order of the songs, but that's about it.

Former DC Comics editor Cliff Chiang recreated the "Control" album cover with Storm of the X-Men as Janet. Ironically, director Bryan Singer initially wanted Janet for the part of Storm in the X-Men movies...

I think George Lucas has a big ol' crush on J. Look at the way he's gazing at her in the RN pic with Q. And he was lookin' cozy with her at the 2002 Vanity Fair post-Oscar bash

^^^ Too bad?! I'm glad that Janet came out with her issues! I have had some of the same issues has she has...including self-identity and the same type of father and family that she describes in her book. It doesn't matter whether you are a so-called "nobody" or a famous person like Janet--money and fame do not solve life issues--which she found out. I am glad that she is into her "self acknowdgement" stage--which she should be. I am, also, but I just wish that I looked as good as she does! wink

I just created a ranking over on Rankopedia for Janet's tv and movie roles. If you want to go and check it out and vote it's at:

http://www.rankopedia.com...h=61080669

You don't have to register to vote and I'd really appreciate it. smile

There are also rankings over there for her albums and songs:

Thanks! smile

This might seem like an odd request, but does anyone have any pics of Janet from when she was on the show A New Kind of Family? I've searched google and nothing really comes up with her from this tv series.

The only thing anyone seems to know about ANKOF is that Telma Hopkins was Janet's mom, Rob Lowe co-starred and it was after Good Times and before Diff'rent Strokes. I think it lasted one full season. That is probably the hardest to find, rarest moment in Janet's career. Eileen Brennan from Private Benjamin and Laurie Hendler from Gimme A Break were also on the show.

It's annoying how Janet skims through her life in her own book and instead brings up her "friends" and "fans" stories. confused I didn't purchase the book to read about people I could care less about it. I understand she's private but shit falloff
