Here's the deal, Janet doesn't give a fuck what anyone thinks.

Well thats the deal NO ARTIST who is an ARTIST should be doing anything for the fans because they might like it, you have to please yourself and fuck everyone else, if they dig it cool, if they dont cool, if you do things just to sell and because others like it, and its not what you want then you arent an artist at all, you are a hired hand and music is your 9-5 job. I dont give a fuck who she works with just do a good album, that goes for any artist.

But people are "double standard" they talk about "Charts not mattering as long as its good" and then when the albums come out and dont sell like the old days, they blame the label and whoever they can think of, people it doesnt matter anymore the industry is done, its over it doesnt matter where you debut or what you sell anymore, get over it, the 90's are 20 years in the past WAKE UP!
[Edited 2/3/10 14:40pm]

WTF are you talking about? eek

I think Janet was at the stage of caring what her fans think with that train wreak called 20 Y.O. that album was intended to blow up and she didn't blame anybody. JD, her X, blamed the record label, NOT Janet. With Discipline it was the record label's wrong doing. LA Reid and Janet got into this big fight about the 2nd single. He wanted "Rock With U' and Janet said "Luv". Well, "Rock Wit U' was the single. Plus, the whole timing of promo was shit. But now after reading this interview http://www.wonderlandmaga..._jackson/. She clearly doesn't give a fuck anymore and is going to do whatever. The interludes is her trademark. It flowed nicely with RN1814 and TVR but not so much anymore.

It seems like the people that "don't care" are the one's insisting she cares when really she doesn't give 2 shits.

Who said janet blamed her label, im talking about folks on this forum that preach "charts dont matter" and then blame a label for not being able to market her to the audience out there. Its very simple Janet fans will buy the record regardless, you arent gonna pick up new fans at this point, you arent gonna have Control part 2 or Rythym Nation 2010, fans need to let it go with the "hey day" shit already. It seems like artists can move on but fans for the most part cant let it go, or so called fans.

Critics praised "Make me".

Discipline was 61% favored http://en.wikipedia.org/w...9#Critical

Exactly. People liked Discipline overall. It had good tracks on it. It was Island that dropped the ball, purposely, on promotion of the album because they and Janet couldn't agree on the next single. That's why the album stalled after 2 singles (Feedback, Rock With U). It had at least 3 more singles in it.

I don't know why Jerkins gets a bad rap. He's done popular songs, they're catchy, danceable, memorable. Is it jealousy? Is it just laziness is trying to hear someone new produce a record for Janet? Does everyone always want Jimmy and Terry? Hell, I'd like Jimmy & Terry on her albums, maybe along with Jerkins. She once said "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", but she's been tinkering with things a bit too long. J&T's work on her albums have been minimal to nothing for the past couple of projects. That whole "throwback to control" nonsense with 20 Y.O. was a big fucking cocktease, and I think even Jam and Lewis knew better.. Dupree took a big welfare cheese shit on that project.

I dug Discipline though. Only 1 or 2 tracks I could do without.

Nah. Discipline was mediocre at best. The first half is good but the second was just shake

I think without the sleep inducing balladry (how that escaped the studio is beyond me) and that weak Missy (who uses her anymore?) collab it would've been solid album. and Yea, I agree with you about wrong single choices but at the same time I think it wouldn't have done well. Lets be real. Janet's 43 years old and radio will not play her music even if it's all bubbly and catchy like "Make me", "Luv" or "2nite". They just won't. Radio will choose Rihanna or Lady Gaga over her any day. Her time has passed. It's sad but true. So really she should just drop the sex kitten act and make some good music. I just read her new interview with Wonderland magazine and she said that she is bored with herself ( YAS! pray). So clearly she's changing her image and sound. I really dont care for Jerkins but he seems open to trying new things with Janet so we'll see how that goes.

People ask why it flopped so fans respond "because her label..." lol

I disagree that she won't pick up any new fans. No matter how shit the album may be she will pick up new fans with every album just like any other artists.

She said she doesn't want to duplicate her previous work.

Heres the deal, Janet is now what 42? Its time to realize that you aint that anymore, your selling days and being the "only thing in town" are gone, as Elton calls it "the honeymoon period is over" every artist has their time where they are the shit, and sorry folks her's is past, can we just agree and move on???Just cut a good fucking record with 10 solid tracks no fucking 1990's interludes and bathroom breaks and no "i wanna be down" rappers and guest producers to try to regain "your honeymoon period"

i agree with everything you said, i just hate when people make comments that she need to give it up, why should she stop making music.

February 3, 2010

Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri may no longer be romantically involved, but that’s not stopping the former couple from rekindling their magic in the studio.

Producer-songwriter Bryan-Michael Cox revealed that he and J.D. are reteaming with the pop star for her next album, the first since 2008’s Discipline. “I’m producing Janet’s album with Jermaine and it’s going to be hot,” B. Cox told Rap-Up.com at Tricky Stewart’s pre-Grammy party last Friday. “That’s all I can say so far.”

His producing partner Kendrick “WyldCard” Dean also chimed in, adding, “Some great collabos on there,” but didn’t disclose further details.

Janet has been in the studio with Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins working on her 11th studio album, due this year on A&M Records. She is also set to add her vocals to the “We Are the World” remake, singing her brother Michael’s part.

hmmm doesn't sound too promising. She should cancel this project and work with a few producers that she's never worked with before.Otherwise, she's just gonna come up with a predictable,run-of-the-mill R&B album.

lol It's always the same. At first it's "Janet's next album will be back to basics, it's Jimmy & Terry with Janet writing together like the Control era" and then gradually the same usual mix of producers end up giving her songs, making another "more of the same" Janet album coming out.

Yeah it's like a pattern lol If true ugh. lol

Everytime she records a new album, the people involved go to the media and say the same stuff....

We're going back to the 'Control' sound....going back to basics....the songs will be upbeat and fun...the album is gonna have the classic Janet Jackson sound

The finished album never seems to live up to the hype.

Yeah the only way to go back to the Control sound is to throw out all the new sounds...but that is not going to happen.

Not lately. Jimmy Jam was quoted early/mid in 2009 stating that they were in the beginning stages of putting something together. Perhaps she's content with what she's got from JJ&TL already. I don't know...I just hope they're still involved...ya know?

I'm tired of hearing from all these cats lobbying their songs for placement. I understand, its the business but damn. What happened to shut the hell up and see if your stuff makes it onto the final product?

and 20 Y.O. didn't. There's one little "Miss You Much" sound at the beginning of "So Excited". Is THAT supposed to be the throwback? Because shit like "Give It 2 Me", and "This Body" and "Call On Me" has NOTHING to do with Control. Zip.

question

ROCKWITU was made with Durpri right? Very cool song. Rockwitu is a magic song with a JANET sound, and it shows that Dupri can be quite versatile, so long as the song doesn't open with "yall know who this is..."

Janet is an artist, she knows what she's doing.

Janet's doing major writing herself for this album.Which says that she is deeply into it. Interscope is a huge record label and there part of A&M records now. They are going to make sure this record gets played and promoted & be full of hit singles and put Janet where she deserves back on top. Jimmy Levine head of interscope said it himself he is personally attached to this new Janet album and has faith in her. When Jimmy Levine gets behind an artist please believe its gong to be a successful project.

I think the label is putting her with different producers including JJ&TL. So they can pick the best tracks for this new project. This is going to be a huge year for Janet. With her brother gone and her new movie & book coming out.The pieces are in place to bring her back on top again. Her being 43 has nothing to do with it. What's meant to happen will happen.

Jermaine Dupre brought Mariah back with "We belong together". Maybe working with Brian Cox they will come up with a good track this time that suits her.

Discipline(which Janet signed for me) was a good album and had a lot of potential. It just wasn't the right time for it. Its best that she left Island/Defjam and look where she is now. Where she belongs back with A&M Records. That wouldn't have happen if she was still with that label and LA Reid. Who didn't give a crap about her in the first place.
