Darkchild sucks. Didn't the poor reception of the 'Discipline" album & "Make Me" single teach her anything?

Critics praised "Make me".

Discipline was 61% favored http://en.wikipedia.org/w...9#Critical

Exactly. People liked Discipline overall. It had good tracks on it. It was Island that dropped the ball, purposely, on promotion of the album because they and Janet couldn't agree on the next single. That's why the album stalled after 2 singles (Feedback, Rock With U). It had at least 3 more singles in it.

I don't know why Jerkins gets a bad rap. He's done popular songs, they're catchy, danceable, memorable. Is it jealousy? Is it just laziness is trying to hear someone new produce a record for Janet? Does everyone always want Jimmy and Terry? Hell, I'd like Jimmy & Terry on her albums, maybe along with Jerkins. She once said "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", but she's been tinkering with things a bit too long. J&T's work on her albums have been minimal to nothing for the past couple of projects. That whole "throwback to control" nonsense with 20 Y.O. was a big fucking cocktease, and I think even Jam and Lewis knew better.. Dupree took a big welfare cheese shit on that project.

I dug Discipline though. Only 1 or 2 tracks I could do without.

Oh and it's not like Janet approved the tracks or anything. JD is just telling the press that he's working with her (a la he's confident that she'll approve his submissions) but I hope she shuts him up.

He's just using her.

Exactly..this is WHAT I'm hoping. he probably calling her every night talking about making a track for her, he hasnt had a r&b hit in ages while he talking, and Bryan Cox really need to be written off, I cant STAND his tracks.

That's what I'm thinking too. Jermaine is indeed using her good fortune to fool the media. By the time of the album's release, he'd probably won't be on it. Janet's gonna have to be like Michael and shut him the fuck up. lol

Thank you! I agree with everything you said.

I'm reading her new interview right now and she seems to want to go in a completely different direction - musically and even physically.

JD can go play with himself and leave her alone. B-Cox is H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E. Ugh! Stick with Miss Usher. She needs you.

I thought Discipline was great, a really fresh, energetic album. The other albums from this decade pale in comparison imo. Too bogged down in samey slow songs, or just not very interesting or fresh.

I hope they don't regress.

Rap-Up is seldom wrong with any of its exclusives. Also, Bryan-Michael Cox, who happens to be contributing to Janet's next album, mentioned Dupril's involvement.

lol It's always the same. At first it's "Janet's next album will be back to basics, it's Jimmy & Terry with Janet writing together like the Control era" and then gradually the same usual mix of producers end up giving her songs, making another "more of the same" Janet album coming out.

Heres the deal, Janet is now what 42? Its time to realize that you aint that anymore, your selling days and being the "only thing in town" are gone, as Elton calls it "the honeymoon period is over" every artist has their time where they are the shit, and sorry folks her's is past, can we just agree and move on???Just cut a good fucking record with 10 solid tracks no fucking 1990's interludes and bathroom breaks and no "i wanna be down" rappers and guest producers to try to regain "your honeymoon period"

Well thats the deal NO ARTIST who is an ARTIST should be doing anything for the fans because they might like it, you have to please yourself and fuck everyone else, if they dig it cool, if they dont cool, if you do things just to sell and because others like it, and its not what you want then you arent an artist at all, you are a hired hand and music is your 9-5 job. I dont give a fuck who she works with just do a good album, that goes for any artist.

But people are "double standard" they talk about "Charts not mattering as long as its good" and then when the albums come out and dont sell like the old days, they blame the label and whoever they can think of, people it doesnt matter anymore the industry is done, its over it doesnt matter where you debut or what you sell anymore, get over it, the 90's are 20 years in the past WAKE UP!
