I was a bit surprised by how well Prince fared in this poll, as he did much better than he did in the song poll. That said, I'm glad his highest entry is 3121- it's definitely my favorite 00s Prince album.

Thanks moonbeam! That's quite some work you've put in this. Much appreciated! This is a org list right? All 47 participants are (or were) orgers?

Cheers!

I didn't expect Vespertine to be #1. That was nice. And Prince having two albums in the top five shouldn't surprise me knowing how well he did in NDRU's org poll a few years ago: http://prince.org/msg/8/192731

Actually looking again at that older thread, the surprise should be that all four of Prince's main studio albums didn't finish in the top 10 this time. lol

Great work Eens! I love that my favorite album of all time got the #1 spot.

Not sure how k.d. didn't make her way in there somewhere though.

I'd be interested in an all-time list, but even more so in polls for each of the decades from the 60's to the 90's.

I'd love to see a 1980's poll.

I going to work on my top 200 just in case.

Thanks Moonbeam really enjoyed it all, shame I never finished my song list.

I'll add my voice to the parade of people giving thanks to moonbeam.

If there's an appetite for further polls, how about doing a decade every month & then capping it off with an all-time poll? I'm not sure what the response would be (interest might wane), but I generally find polls have positive impacts effects on boards - they prompt interesting discussions & get more people engaged.

Wouldn't it be less work to provide an all time poll and derive the results per decade from that poll?

I think you wouldn't get equivalent results. Moonbeam's the statistician, so he'll be able to speak to this much better than I can, but I believe asking different questions (decade vs. all-time) is very likely to produce different answers from the same people. Also, consolidated lists would exclude a lot of outliers that people like but don't love from certain decades. Say everybody likes Bowie's Heroes enough to rank it as their 30th favourite of the 70s, but not enough to put it on an all-time 200 list. It wouldn't register on our poll. Basically it would result in having less breadth of input, I think.

But I'm prattling on...you're absolutely right that we could do that as a work-around, but as I said, I think running polls is a really good way of engaging people. They're good fun & prompt good discussions, so why not run more? Eventually diminishing returns will set in, so perhaps we wouldn't want to do it continuously. We could do the sixties in February, take March off then go to the seventies in April, etc.

If Moonbeam didn't want to do all of them, I'd be happy to chip in and take one on, assuming he doesn't get all proprietary with his formula.
