People want to remember the MJ of old . the jackson 5 to thriller .Those was his best years to be honest with you and I like songs from all the Era's but just saying. And everything dangerous to his death was negative as well(personal life)so people like to stay in the past also.

Not everything from 1991 to his death was negative. There were positives in his personal life in those years as well, like his children
I always see it as pretty unfair that so much post 1984 is always mentioned in the negative

Honestly, I think 1982-1991 was his most creative

That was it ,why you think everybody turn on him in the last years because of the scandals , He was more creative then I agree I just feel he was at his best during the years before .I'm not trying to be negative with talking about his personal years from '91 onward i'm just stating from what I see many people have said about him in those years that's all. smile

I understand but with the BBC special, they stopped at Thriller then brushed everything after with a mention

That was what I was talking about. They said it was a slow career death

Who has a 20 or 16 year career death? lol The brotha had like 30 top 10 hits and 7 hit albums/compilations in the America and the UK after Thriller lol

People trip when they said MJ fell out after "Thriller", there's at least four or five albums that would tell you otherwise! lol

Well, that's because the media said MJ fell out after "Thriller". When he was alive, didn't he said don't believe everything you read?.

Thanks for posting. This is funny.
They are playing this concert on our TV today as a New Year´s Eve treat. NOW, they are playing it, not before. Only after his death is he good enough to be shown on TV. The only thing I don´t like is that they are showing this concert cause I think it´s his worst. The performance with his brothers was OK, but the rest is painful to watch. Something was wrong on those two nights. I wish they showed the Dangerous Bucarest concert or something from the Bad Tour.

Thank you. Well said.

The BBC Culture show on MJ was the best documentary I've seen on him for a while.

I heard they kinda brushed Bad aside and somewhat ignored everything from Dangerous to his passing saying the past 16 years was a slow career death.....

A 16 sixteen year career death? falloff

Yeah that was the only disappointment for me. I liked how they chose to focus on the music for a change...

It's a great pity nobody properly interviewed MJ about his music and the creative process in the later years - it would have been an interesting story and a good antidote to the same-old tired documentaries about his personal life where some disgruntled former employee would claim he saw MJ violate some boys (yawn).

Anyway, here's ?uestlove:

Of course it was negative...I guess he donated way too much money to charity, correct? Unless you believe in the allegations of sexual misconduct upon children and in the endless rumours about everything (including Bubbles and Louie the lama conspiring to kidnap kids), I guess one wouldn't like to stay in the past!

Arnotts

It doesn’t make sense that people brush aside everything after thriller, as if he did nothing. If it wasn’t for everything that came after it he wouldn’t even be considered the Legend that he now is. He would just be remembered as something very 80’s. And plus the majority of his hardcore fans are much more into post thriller stuff then pre so he wouldn’t even have much of a fan base without the last half of his career.
