Whose watching the episodes of the Jackson 5 cartoons from 1971/72 on you tube, theres the first episode and then the one they play a concert in the forest and Cinderjackson, where Michael dreams hes a cinderella like figure in a modern day pop princess who looks like Diana Jackson.
They were quite funny if you can get past crude racial stereotypes such as jive talk and an obsession with afros (In one skit one of the brothers ends up giving a tree an afro with a chainsaw.

Who's No. 1: Tiger Or Michael Jackson?

NEW YORK -- Say this for the media's performance in 2009: When it came to losing the public's trust, sensationalizing silly stories and losing perspective, journalists sure outdid themselves.


In particular this year, there were five moments when journalists blew it. Can you guess where this is heading?


5) The White House crashers:


When you think about it, the fascination with this episode really centered on the What If? Factor. What if the Tareq Salahi and his wife Michaele, dressed to the nines and acting for all the world liked they belonged at a state dinner for Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, had actually intended to hurt President Barack Obama, the First Lady or some distinguished guest (heaven forbid some worldly harm had come to Katie Couric (CBS) ).


It seems that these two cunning people had a much more personal goal in mind, something far more in line with the true adventurous American spirit of the 21st century: fame.


Did it really surprise anyone when the speculation built that even more than a free meal, they hoped the exposure might enhance Michaele's chances of landing a gig on a reality TV show?


4) Balloon Boy:


Remember that fateful day, last Oct. 15, when our nation sat glued to television-news channels for hours? Here, too, we voyeurs were obsessed by what might have been. We fretted that a small, helpless boy had somehow managed to climb inside a hot-air balloon on the family grounds in Fort Collins, Colo., activate the device and then begin to soar into the heavens.


It was a terrifying scenario to imagine the kid in such desperate straits. Fortunately, it wasn't true. This, too, eventually looked like another publicity stunt. Before long, the public's sympathy turned to anger. People felt snookered by the headline-mongers, and for good reason. If we Americans take hours out of a busy work day to invest tears in a helpless boy, then he had darned well better not be a part, if an unwitting one, in a reckless attempt for instant fame.


3) Sully's heroics:


Whew. Finally, we can talk about a genuine American hero, Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger. Who can forget the iconic airline pilot who somehow safely landed US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River last Jan. 15, saving the lives of all 155 people on board?


Sully was remarkable, no question about it. But the media's performance here was anything but. We turned this great man into a clich�. He represented something we feared the nation had lost: heroism. It was a classic story, how an ordinary man doing an ordinary job performed extraordinarily under the most intense pressure imaginable.


He deserved to be hailed, but too many publicity-hungry observers exploited his sudden fame. The people who wanted to share Sully's spotlight certainly jumped on the bandwagon, didn't they? And it got really crowded.


(2) Michael Jackson's sad demise:


Speaking of going over the top!


As soon as word started dribbling out that the King of Pop had been found dead on June 25, all hell broke loose. It was a media circus worthy of none other than Elvis Presley. But Presley, who died in 1977, only had to contend largely with three television networks and some gossip magazines. Now, in the age of 24-hour news cycles and blogging, all bets are off.


Everyone sensed an opportunity to increase network ratings, online page views and circulation figures -- simply by exploiting the now-defenseless Jackson. Was he murdered? Was he hooked on drugs? Was he broke? Did he have any real friends in the world? Did his family stand by him or abandon him?


The media overreacted, God knows, and turned poor Michael Jackson into a pinata. It wasn't the first time -- and, I suspect, it won't be the last that a celebrity gets mistreated right to the end.

Originally, Michael Jackson came in at No. 1, but the more I thought about it, my very unscientific research concluded that he was merely the runner-up.
1) Tiger's Troubles:


What else, right?


Tiger Woods made news off the golf course in the wee hours after Thanksgiving when he got into a car accident at his home, following a domestic dispute with his wife Elin. Since then, news has spread of the many women who claim to have had dalliances with the famed golfer during his marriage.


Normally the most tight-lipped and publicity-savvy athlete around, Tiger has found himself caught up in a media tsunami worthy of his own private "Bonfire of the Vanities." It's a remarkable saga of how even the most circumspect person can fall from grace. This is at once a cautionary tale for every celebrity in the 21st century media crunch -- and a reminder to journalists that it's OK to hit the breaks even when a major public figure's reputation goes off the rails.


I recognize that I immediately called for Tiger to break his silence. I stand by that position. If he had spoken out on day one and told his story, he might have avoided a lot of this hysteria.
