I am not a fan of the man's music, rock n roll is my game, but greatness has to be recognized. There was only one and just like Elvis and John Lennon before him, there was no one like him before and there will never be another like him. His was not a soul that comes around once in a lifetime. His was one that comes around once. Period. He was one of the last of his kind. McCartney is the sole survivor of the greats that actually changed the world with art. I don't think the world will see an entertainer of Micheal's caliber again. "McCartney is the sole survivor of the greats that actually changed the world with art. I don't think the world will see an entertainer of Micheal's caliber again." With all due respect to MJ memory, let's not get abzurd, we still have Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Led Zep, The Stones, Prince the list goes on... RIP MJ Maybe Dylan in influence, but in terms of artistic class and perfection, McCartney is the last man standing. None of the others mentioned come close to the worlwide phenomena that was Micheal Jackson. Or that is Paul McCartney. Though we are all fans, Prince definitely does not belong in the company of those select few.

Game recognizes game and Mike was a first class, top notch performer, no question about it. But whatever flavor of Kool Aid you're sipping on that led to the last comment, you need to avoid like the plague. It would be informative to sit down and speak to McCartney, Dylan, Clapton, Page, and Jagger about Prince's influence and impact on the pop/rock music (both recording and performance) landscape. I guarantee you that their thoughts are in the complete opposite direction. There is good reason that he can still sell out 21 concerts at a single venue like the O2. Not that Mike couldn't but I'd like to see any of the others mentioned try it. Good luck with that.

Hi jazz goers!, Today I'v been listening to the refreshing MJ "Remember the time" and "Blood on the dance floor" i loved and found them still very Prince-esque in many ways.

Couldn't have said it any better myself Sorry about the dose of reality, but to anyone else other than his hardcore fan base,Prince will be remembered for Purple rain and nothing else. Maybe his strange behavior. That's as close as he'll come to MJ. [Edited 6/26/09 12:35pm] [Edited 6/26/09 12:37pm]

It's always the same, even in death, when he's being applauded around the world they have to make the comparison in a negative light, my brother's just done it to me by text "See, you can't say that about Prince" bla bla... I think it's better to ignore it at this point... and any point really Wake up children, dance the dance electric... there isn't much time.... who screamed? Was it U...?

I remember when I was 5 years old. Must have been spring or summer of 1984. My older cousins would take big card board boxes, open them up and break dance on them. There would be a boom box blaring Wanna Be Startin' Something. I would just look on in amazement.

The earliest memory I have of music is the Jackson 5. I am truly saddened about Michael's death...but to remember him I have been playing his stuff pretty much non-stop since yesterday. From Motown to Butterflies...all of it has been pretty much in non-stop rotation. Thanks Mike for such great music and you will truly never be forgotten. We're gonna need a bigger boat

It may be more serious than initially thought because what you're saying makes no kinda sense right now bro. Head trauma is a serious thing. Don't sleep on it. I'll never forget the day my dad played the Off the Wall ALBUM! I was so excited. I played that Album everyday, learned all the lyrics, and I just FELT GOOD whenever I listened to it! The Destiny album is also a highlight!

Here is my playlist of memories: Push me Away Blame it on the Boogie Get on the Floor... No doubt. Ever since I heard the news, my mind has been stuck on the 'Jacksons' songs/albums. As much as I loved seeing him deliver solo, Off the Wall is just supreme, pinnacle R&B. Bad is only underrated because of what it followed. Invincible was really really good, but sadly lost under the weight....but it's the work with his brothers that impacted me the most. I took my entire collection to work today and listened all day long. These are additions from my book. That's What You Get for Being Polite (just sub in MJ for "Jack". period) Good Times Dreamer Everybody Time Waits For No One and Wait (Jackie's underrated cut...but when Mike comes in near the end in background, that song is the highlight of Victory to me) But it's the inside jacket photos from Destiny and The Jacksons that stick with me. As much as he needed to break free to let his artistry out, I think he was healthiest with his brothers beside and behind him. peace in sadness [Edited 6/26/09 18:16pm] *************************************************
