This i think is because they are so starved to have a younger artist actually catch on with the older crowd. But every show does this stuff now and im sure they wont stop anytime soon. I guess you're right, but I don't see any connection with this generation vs. that generation unfortuneatly. the music has gotten so bad these days that this generation doesn't even look like they know the names of any of the ledgends of the nineties, let alone need to be bringing them out. I hope that BET finds a more clever way to connect the young with the old. I mean the execs of these shows are from that era they should know that these groups still have a following and let them come out and do them. I dont see it either, they think by throwing Beyonce on the stage with Tina Turner its going to make Tina fans run out and buy Beyonce records, its backward marketing and it doesnt work, also YOUTH doesnt watch these shows plain and simple, they dont watch the Grammys, they never watch these things, so why JAM Chris Brown and Rihanna or Justin or Fall Out boy doing a Beatles Tribute down someones throat who could give two shits about any of them. Personally I think the only way to CONNECT the Young to the old, its to not seperate them, and NOT combine them, let them both be themselves in their own space. Stop these AWFUL duets, stop things like the Time with Rihanna, I mean let the Time do their songs and let Rihanna do hers, and if a 40 year old Time fan watching says "hey that Rihanna is cool" and goes out and buys it, well there you go, and if a 16 year old Rihanna fan goes "hey that Time group is cool" and buys it, props to that 16 year old who learned about the Time, and NOT because they were singing FUCKING UMBRELLA but because they were singing their own song. I can't lie, as burnt out as I was on seeing beyonce all over the place, to me, she was the only one to pull of being with other celebs. too bad the tina one didn't come out the way it was supposed to. but at least she will pull out all the stops to make the older artist feel welcomed back. Again, I hope BET does something different. it used to be the older sang by themselves, then the youngins do theirs, and so on, and maybe give one or two combo performances. nipsy

I'm sorry, but I kept waiting for some real artists/musicians to show up. All I saw was half of a minstrel show. I'm sorry y'all, that's just how I saw it. That T-Pain guy gave me an eye headache looking at that damn shiny ass suit, hat and glasses he was wearing...lawd it was horrible.

I had forgotten it was on, so since nothing else was on, I watched it and:
Marvin Sapp's performance turned that place into church for a few minutes and then they put on an artist who's cussin his damn brains out after... The Al Green tribute was great and Maxwell is a hottie even without all that luscious hair. Al Green is Al Green...nuff said. Ciara was doing the "I'm singing the hook" character for the two performances she was in, but her little back bend dance move that she did with Chris Brown was badass to me; and while watching Chris Brown do his little pelvic thrusts, I felt like a pedophile...how old is that child? Did his parents consent to that? Why is T-Pain on everybody's song? When the big category of the night came up, he was on 5 out of the 6 nominees songs...there was no way dude was going to lose on that one. His slo-mo to the stage was mad funny though. Keisha Cole's new teeth looked soo pretty, to bad her voice didn't complement them; and it was nice to see Lil Kim's plastic surgeries have finally healed entirely....and she was the most dressed I think I've ever seen her. Ne-Yo's performance was very suave and quite nice, but I still don't like that song. Rick Ross. The whole time he was doing his thing, I kept staring at that insane chain he was rockin that looked just like him That shit was ridiculous sick for real. It was nice to see Luda and Big Boi though. It was nice to see more half-dressed men on stage than women...Nelly, thanks for that....Lil Wayne, ummm, thanks for being sober this year...Mr. Ross Rhianna I got more joy out of the close ups of her facial expressions while watching Chris Brown get frisky with Ciara than her snoozefest performance. Fergie ...Fergie saw all the girls in the room with real asses and just stood there...I was waiting for her usual ass wiggle, but she just walked around and looked dazed, cofused, and freaked out. The reunion of all those fierce girl groups, EnVogue, SWV, and TLC, was fire! The only thing they should have removed from that performance was Alicia Keys. Alicia's voice will never be as good as any of the ladies from SWV or EnVogue and nobody fills the "L" that was Left-Eye. Sorry, but I still ain't digging this girl. That's not saying that she's not talented, lots of people are talented (even more than her), but why does she feel the need to do choreography and wear super tight outfits all of a sudden? Honestly, I was expecting this show to be much worse than it turned out to be...I'll wait until the VMAs airs to get my final verdict on which is the bigger suckfest this year. He must be on that LL Cool J diet of horse steroid shots to the ass and laxatives That shit is nasty. And Nelly is another one that looks ZESTIER and ZESTIER every time I see him. I guess he's really gone Hollywood and become BFF's with P Shitty, Harrell, and other assorted tangy mofos.

Nahhhhh True, those you named were pretty good and it was good to see Maxwell perform> It was also nice to see the Al Green tribute was nice..(now that is a real soul singer), but I still have a headache from looking at the glow from T-Pain's costumes ...and what was with the shirtless rappers? What exactly were they trying to prove? Lil Wayne and Nelly looked like they stepped off the basketball court and forgot to bring their shirts. There's so many good artists (singers/musicians) that are not getting the attention they deserve. It's a shame that BET is not up to par on real music. Besides the artists you mentioned above, everyone else was half-ass. Someone ought to write BET and ask them where in the world were the real musicians/artists on that show? Maybe she's not. Maybe she and her long-time boyfriend lead a nice, private life and she keeps the press out of her business by not being an attention-seeking media whore like so many other celebs. Not all pretty tomboys are lesbians. I know a few who are quite the opposite. Maybe she's straight and would rather not draw attention to herself outside of performing and events.

That's also possible. Ellen Page is a tomboy I'm attracted to. I'd like to believe she isn't for the ladies alone (If at all.). But I don't know. Anyway, to steer clear from her personal and sexual preference/orientation business, the performance was alright. Nothing that "REALLY" excited me, this year. Too many Jim Crows. This is the second time that I've seen her use a pretty high-profile performance to re-introduce some of the people who inspired her musically. At the Grammiys it was the dance hall tribute with Beenie Man, Chakademus & Pliers(spelling?), etc. Last night it was The girl groups.
much respect Too bad it was her manager that came up with the idea
