And I wasn't dissing FeedBack's success - I actually think it did great considering radio has ignored janet's last two albums and it's such a dance-oriented, club track. My point is just because a song has lots of spins/most added it's first week out, doesn't guarantee top 10 airply by ANY means. I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

Reports are coming in that LiveNation is putting the final touches to a sponsorhip deal for Madonna's 2008/2009 world tour.An insider said: "We are hoping to have tickets go on sale for all locations around May 2nd with pre-sale tickets going on sale on the 1st".They also said the tour will be "huge" with Madonna going to alot of far-out places (Mexico is even being discussed, and Australia is already confirmed). Not surprisingly, tickets are expected to be highly priced with front row sections being charged a premium.Nothing has been officially announced yet but a press release will be issued as soon as the sponsorhip deal is completed. We barely have time to get excited about the new CD,and now we have to worry about ticket sales?? Being a Madonna fan is never boring, lol. Is one of those far out places Detroit? If not, Madonna is being a real See You Next Tuesday! I don't understand how she went from always playing the Palace, including 2 sold out nights on the DWT (one recorded for HBO). Michigan isn't doing so well, but I'm sure that a tour from her will be sold out! I finally heard "4 Minutes" on teh radio. It played on the dance channel like I expected but I think it is accessibe enough for Top 40. What pisses me off is that they only played the 3 minute version that seems to be missing a whole lot! I heard a fuller version (which also seems to be missing a chunk). The dance channel sometimes plays nine minutes mixes off stuff (same for the disco channel which will sometimes break out 10 min+ 12" tracks). The edit doesn't do the song justice. Actually, most of her singles that are cut down for radio end up taking out good stuff.

I'm a fan of both (lately more Janet with her newer stuff....with first singles for both albums, definately "Feedback" over "4 Minutes", which I also like). Now let's all join forces and fight the real enemy...Mariah Carey! Rockabilly i wish the Q magazine cover photo was the album cover instead
I do, too but it's too normal. Madonna is obviosly not going for glamour here but is all about letting her freak flag fly!

Do you mean that venue would be booked for something else on those days (it's where the Pistons play and considering she tours in the summer, that is an overlap....Or does Basketball usually end early summer, like Hockey?). I mean, the way she tours and considering she ALWAYS plays neighboring Chicago and Canada (are these bigger markets?), it almost seems like she is going out of her way. I've heard it said the first time she avoided Detroit was because they couldn't set up her stage show at the Palace....a possibility but it happened again? [Edited 3/20/08 21:49pm]

I would say that Detroit isn't out of the question.Maybe she'll try to do a Birthday show there?

WTH, I thought the tour wasn't until fall/winter?! The Confessions tour started in May and was announced in February! So we can expect the new tour to begin in August or so? No comment about that horrible voice of hers, but I've got to point something out. I doubt if any of you have ever noticed it, but I'll share my observation with you. Madonna has this habit which is a classic symptom of phoniness. Both in interviews and in lyrics she has a habit of speaking in stock phrases as if she invented them herself. In this song you've got "Always the bridesmaid, never the bride", in Four Minutes you had "the road to hell is paved with good intentions". We've also had "To know you is to love you", "Nothing is what it seems", etc. In interviews she does it all the time. It's like she actually thinks these cliches sound impressive and original. I think if she ever had an original thought it would give her a heart attack. Now that Janet WACKson has given up songwriting Madonna is truly the weakest lyricist in the business. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

And what's more important is that she speaks, thinks and writes other people's ideas and genuinely doesn't know how corny that is. "Always the bridesmaid, never the bride"?? Come on, man, that's just lazy. In interviews she does it all the time. It's almost pathological. I don't expect her fans to notice of course. We all know what they're like, but to any sophisticated person it really shows how prosaic her mind is. And any artist worth their salt has a built-in cliche detector. As much as I love Madonna,I really don't listen to her albums to find deep, amazing lyrics. She's not Stevie Wonder or Bob Dylan. She's a dance/pop artist and let's be honest, you won't find alot of earth-shattering lyrics in that genre.Seriously,if you wanna hear amazing songwriting, you pretty much have to stick with the 60s and 70s artists. We live in an era where a song like "My Humps" wins Grammys. It's like you almost have to "dumb down" your music just to get a hit.
