"Same Old Lang Syne" is one my favorite Christmas songs. Weird that he died this time of the year.

Whoa.
Y'know for the longest time,
I never paid much attention to Same Old Lang Syne.
Then two days ago, as I was returning fron Christmas shopping & parking my car in the garage, this song had finished playing.
I was sudden;y hit with how much I liked this song.
It's been on heavy rotation to my computer since then (at 40 times since).

It seems to add a certain sense of loss when you like a recently deceased artists song like that.

The leader of the band is tired
and his eyes are growing old
but his blood runs through my instruments
and his song is in my soul

My life has been a poor attempt
to imitate the man
I am a living legacy
of the Leader of the Band

Fantastic musician and entertainer. One of the very few that I mention in the same breath as Prince.

God bless Don Fogelberg and his loved ones.

I'm not frontin'...I only liked about 3 of his songs, but they were great songs and sung beautifully. RIP

Pure Brilliance:

Met my old lover in the grocery store
The snow was falling christmas eve
I stole behind her in the frozen foods
And I touched her on the sleeve

She didnt recognize the face at first
But then her eyes flew open wide
She went to hug me and she spilled her purse
And we laughed until we cried.

We took her groceries to the checkout stand
The food was totalled up and bagged
We stood there lost in our embarrassment
As the conversation dragged.

We went to have ourselves a drink or two
But couldnt find an open bar
We bought a six-pack at the liquor store
And we drank it in her car.

We drank a toast to innocence
We drank a toast to now
And tried to reach beyond the emptiness
But neither one knew how.

She said shed married her an architect
Who kept her warm and safe and dry
She would have liked to say she loved the man
But she didnt like to lie.

I said the years had been a friend to her
And that her eyes were still as blue
But in those eyes I wasnt sure if I saw
Doubt or gratitude.

She said she saw me in the record stores
And that I must be doing well
I said the audience was heavenly
But the traveling was hell.

We drank a toast to innocence
We drank a toast to now
And tried to reach beyond the emptiness
But neither one knew how.

We drank a toast to innocence
We drank a toast to time
Reliving in our eloquence
Another auld lang syne...

The beer was empty and our tongues were tired
And running out of things to say
She gave a kiss to me as I got out
And I watched her drive away.

Just for a moment I was back at school
And felt that old familiar pain
And as I turned to make my way back home
The snow turned into rain --

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I saw him perform at the US FESTIVAL, at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, back in the 80's. He was a much more dynamic performer than I thought he was, he ROCKED it! May he be resting peacefully.

People better not point to this as proof of the death trilogy or death duo or whatever you wanna call it bullshit. This was merely a coicindent. He only coincidentally died the same week as Ike Turner
