Jimmy Rosenberg comes from a Sinti (gypsy) family in Asten, in the southern region of The Netherlands.Still very young, Jimmy Rosenberg is obviously one the most promising talents in gypsy jazz today, and chooses to live a traditional gypsy life – in a caravan, without an address. Org don´t get mad at me but I don´t think Prince is in this league.Jimmy and Bireli play in another universe.Prince is a very good player but he doesen´t have the technique( for example to slow with his fingers) to become a master player. But this isn´t important.Prince hasn´t got the time to focus on only one instrument(guitar) to become a master. Had he more time maybe he would! He has to focus on his writing, producing, singing,girls etc etc. Thanks for all your responses. I can agree with B B King and Santana. I like them both. But I think players like Slash,Van Halen,john mayer,Knopfler,Eubanks are overrated and not so great!! [Edited 9/26/07 5:10am] Oh My God!! I did it. Got a job with the crew. When you're a guitar player (like myself), there are certain CDs you must own. This is one of them. Although I must admit, it's kind of depressing (as a guitar player) to hear Jimmy Rosenberg blister through the songs on this CD with such playful ease knowing that he's only 13 year old! It's also refreshing that he's not wasting his incredible talent on mainstream heavy metal or alternative scene. (Yes, let's face it, 'alternative' is now mainstream) A message to all self-proclaimed guitar-heros: buy the Sinti CD and let the Rosenburg brothers take you to school! @emile 57 Thanks for your infos. Great there are two new dvds coming out soon. DVD Jimmy Rosenberg is Back (JRP1) includes Concert Paradiso, March 5th 2007 & Jimmy gets out of jail, May 16th 2006. Release in september/october 2007! DVD Jimmy Rosenberg at the Bimhuis (JRP2) July 27th 2007, including rehearsal segments! Release date to be announced soon. You can preorder them at his official site! And You can download " Improvisation " at Jimmy´s official site to get a first taste! Jimmy played to a packed and very responsive audience. A selection of favorite tunes was warmly applauded and he closed the concert with a Django Reinhardt solo piece entitled Improvisation. Jimmy is one of only two players in the world today who have mastered the technicalities of this most difficult piece. The Paradiso concert will be released on the DVD Jimmy Rosenberg is Back (JRP1), release date to be announced soon. Thanks emile 57!!You´re absolutley right he is a genius on guitar and for me the best living guitarist.Just imagine a guy like Slash,John Mayer, Van Halen or Keith Richards trying to play Improvisation it would be the same as Rihanna trying to sing Nessun Dorma or Alicia Keys,Billy Joel challenging Oscar Peterson on piano.They are just great mainstream rock guitarist nothing more, nothing less. He is very ill and is being treated in a clinic at the moment.  I was looking so forward to seeing him.
