Wasn't Ingrid the one who he did XTC with and then shelved the Black Album?

Blue Tuesday? Yes,it was mentioned in some Prince biographies that she was at Paisley at the time.

Here's one claim about Cat's take on it. From a 2007 Org post:

"My source: Cat Glover

I filmed a behind the scenes video of her modeling shoot last year (the one many of you have seen on youtube), and spent a couple days hanging out with Cat Glover. She is very open and shared some amazing stories with me. This is one:

1987: Prince had never tried Ecstasy, and was curious about it after Cat told him what it felt like. He asked Cat to get him some (it came from her, where the common misconception is that it came from Ingrid). Cat was in LA when Prince made his request. She got some and flew in to MN and was staying at a hotel when Prince's limo showed up. While they were both in her room, Cat suggested Prince take half a dose "because he was so small". He took the full dose and told Cat to wait for him. He rode off in his limo and Cat didn't hear from him until much later.

Prince decided to go to a club while he was tripping. It was here that he met Ingrid Chavez, which eventually led them to Paisley Park. Cat said she didn't think Ingrid knew Prince was tripping on E. Prince called Cat later from the limo and told her about Ingrid. She was riding with him at that point, and the three of them went out to Paisley, making for a historical night in Prince's career.

Even more interesting is her source for where she got the Ecstasy in the first place: Anthony Kiedis from the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
(On a side note, I haven't talked about my experiences with Cat here mainly because of the way people were attacking her on this board after she reappeared. I was one of the many who wondered what had happened to her after all these years, and I just got lucky that I knew Richard Hallmark, who designed the clothes Cat was modeling. Cat is very aware of who she is and where she's been, and is just an amazing person to hang out with. She's extremely open, outgoing and intelligent. This story is just an example of what she's been carrying around with her these past 20 years. Cat, if you're reading this, please write a book!)

Verify something from someone who is passed, how? It was a panel discussion with different women who knew Prince, it is what it is. Is Laura not allowed to write about it in your world?

It seems you think you are a mind-reader now, and that you think in my mind I have a motive for wanting to verify this huge piece of history, and that motive would be - what? Some kind of jealousy? No, I am simply in the mood to be very honest today, and this new information from Ingrid is something I say should be verified. There are ways to do that. I see too many people (including reporters) wanting credit for things around here. Prince’s history is going to get wstered down if we don’t ask for verification of what every Tom, Dick and Harry just say. My answer is this: Laura is allowed to write anything she wants, but if her motive is to kiss ass to associates, we’ll never really fully be able to trust that what she writes anyway, is the TRUTH. And by the way, what is your motive for standing up for her, when everything I am saying is perfectly reasonable? We have people kissing butt to people who kiss butt. Boy, have things gotten boring now, 2.5 years after Prince’s passing. cry I miss you, Prince. All the good stuff has been discussed.

To state the obvious, there are multiple ways of researching and reporting on things. One way is to report on what people say. Sometimes, there isn't much to go on beyond what various people have to say about a situation. Other times, there's more. Sometimes, plenty more.

One thing we do know for a fact is that there are times when people have not told the truth. P as well as associates. We also know for a fact that there are times when people have told the truth. P as well as associates.

As readers or an audience, aren't we all left to strive to think critically while we view the information we have, check multiple sources and seek out things of further relevance, and be open to new information?

Yes, that is what I thought. I think she was at Paisley when Prince called Susan Rogers to come by while he was high on Exstacy.

FINALLY. You see the light.
It is very important that people don’t just take someone’s word for something. Especially the word of someone who is barely understandable verbally during a symposia.

Note: as far as the butt-kissing and wanting credit goes, Laura Tiebert always pops up here on the Org when anyone mentions her or her partner’s books. She’s obviously looking hard for credit, and to have any imoortance in the Prince world. I can’t stand that.

My concern: I am seeing a number of Prince collaborators coming forward with what could be revisionist history. And, they often place themselves in a prominent role.

We have to be extra careful about some of these folks and do alot of fact-checking using numerous sources. Prince was cryptic and left a fairly large hole for some of these "friends" of his to fill.

I feel it is up to us, his loyal fans, to challenge some of these claims until we feel we have come close to the truth...sometimes this involves heated arguments. It is a healthy but sometimes messy process. We need each other (orgers) now as there are so many folks taking advantage of his legacy.

It takes people with courage to challenge things, even in the face of people calling it “negative” or manipulating you for being honest.

I would be more than happy to find that what the lovely Ingrid said is all completely fact-based because we would have one more piece of the picture put together.

AMEN. We can’t just “take someone’s word for something” to be nice. Good. Then I'm sure you'll understand that some may not take your word for it RE: Laura Tiebert's character.

In general, writing a biography takes far more resources out of someone than it returns. I agree with you that rigor is good. Have you considered applying your high standards, and passion for the subject, to producing an excellent biography or other sort of reference material? It seems like one of the best things that a person of great rigor and passion could do to preserve Prince's legacy. From you posts here, it seems that you truly love Prince's art, and that you would love to see pieces put together to help all see the truth.

^^ Maybe the fact that U hijacked the thread with your need to discredit the writer who reported on the symposium, and are laser focused on one panelist and one alone. But carry on - I don't expect that will change.

I'm confused. I thought you were calling for people to be bothered by the truth.

Aren't you posting your concern about the truth, and calling on other people to be more concerned? So that people come together for a more rigorous standard? Aren't you pointing out that some judgements are way too premature? That what those judgements really require is extensive personal experience with someone?

I really think it is OK to have rigorous discussions about this man and his art. I also want to make certain we have done our due diligence. This is not about Laura's character, it is about verification from many/several others re: such an important work of art and his motivations. Saying that someone seems genuine is NOT enough. Let's treat this as the important album that it is.

This thread sure went sideways.

The Lovesexy/Prince/Ingrid thing has been common knowledge for years. Ingrid is flakey but that's what Prince was drawn to at that particular moment in time. I've read several articles over the years by various individuals involved and they have all been the same. Even Prince himself never disputed what others have reported on this subject.

What's the problem? Never mind. Don't answer that. It was a rhetorical question. The only problem is in someone's head.

Lol! Because you would be the arbiter of sanity? lol !
Mimics can never stand up for anything honest. They just create or take a “side”...the one that is most comfortable for them based on their personal agenda.
With the Truth, there is no “side”.
Mimics can’t even use their own vocabulary. Who can trust that?

People with personal agendas aren’t even significant in a conversation to determine truth. Agenda, is in this case: you suddenly popped up here and said something that sounded like you agreed with what I said, and when I acknowledged you you did a very quick about-face and changed your opinion and got nasty. That was manipulative. You did that because a few months ago I pointed out you didn’t have the experience to state somethings you said on another thread, and although I was right, you copped a grudge, which you have held onto until today.
No, you don’t care about Prince at all, or the truth. You care about yourself. It’s all personal to you.
That means what you say here isn’t relevant.
No one with a personal agenda is relevant at all, and that includes folks who want to just make a statement to rescue Laura Tiebert’s feelings.
These book writers have to know we are serious about factual information being written. I may be a little hard on Laura about her wanting to be somebody in the Prince world, and I don’t give a darn. I’m using her as an example, because there are many others doing the same.

No, we are no closer to the Truth than we were a few days ago.
Which, by the way, is WAY too many days for me to spend on something like this.
I’ve said what needed to and I’ve questioned very reasonably what should be questioned.
The rest is up to others.
Either stay in denial while watering down Prince’s legacy, or start doing some due diligence.
This is NOT personal. It’s HISTORY.

So interesting to me the description “flakey”, I know how it is used
What people mean. But flakey is also multi layered
And when I think of snow flakes I think of intricate
Variation. I think poets can embody both the description
You put forth all the while still being multilayered varied and
Deeply complex people. Kinda like Icke describes “Normal” trying to understand
Prince. But I know where you were coming from too sonshine.

I was at the panel discussion in Minneapolis and I just recall Ingrid saying she met Prince in December and they hung out for 3 months. She said they would write poetry to each other back and forth. Someone asked her what it was like to have a conversation with Prince about love and spirituality and she told that person to listen to the Lovesexy album and they would know. I don't recall her claiming whatever he wrote her, word for word, turned into the Lovesexy album, but it wouldn't be that far of a stretch.

[Edited 10/26/18 11:06am]

Agree with this in particular because it's important and it's the truth nod

Welcome to "the org", Mumio…they can have you, but I'll have your love in the end nod

Right motherfunka. Ingrid's history with Prince, and the details of the night they met have been well documented in Biographies, and confirmed by various associates in his camp during that time. Not sure why or how it is so hard to believe that LoveSexy was at least partly inspired by the few months he spent with her at PP. Her poetry was deifinitely in the mix with the songs and themes for the album, and also with her own album (May 19 1992) which Prince produced for her. Apparently, Madoonna was also inspired by her poetry, as she took credit for writing Justify My Love, which resulted in Ingrid having to take legal action to get paid writer's credit.

All that being said, obviously Prince - as even he had stated in the LoveSexy concert tour material, and within some of the songs - was in a dark place prior to the night he took the X and met Ingrid. It is clear that she at least helped him out of this negative space, and inspired a more positive message. Prince's songs usually reflected what was specifically happening in his life at that moment, and we know she was there during that time. Clearly, the album also speaks to his feelings about and strong relationship with God, as well as, the message to his fans that a belief in and love for God will help you in your darkest times.

I'm always amazed by people/fans who have never met Prince or spent any time with him, and yet they insist that any information or details expressed by those who actually did have a relationship with Prince are embellishing or giving false statements. It's just absurd to me. Sorry, but I'm inclined to believe and accept their information over an anonymous fan who had nothing to do with Prince in any personal way.

The reason I am now wary of some of those who knew Prince, is that many of them have not conducted themselves well and have made claims that seem to give them over-important roles.

There is only a need to cross-check and perform due diligence on statements that have been made by any of them, nothing more.
