I didn't think anything of it until LR was noted. She is missed. And I don't care who does or doesn't like that I say that lol

I agree, Mumio, she is missed. One of the things I really appreciated about LR was that she was definitely here for Prince.

...it was right in front of r eye's

I've followed him 4 more than 20 years...since his passing..I've gone back & watched a lot of videos, footage...live per4mances etc.

Not really listening 2 the music...just watching more of him than I did when he was living.

I've noticed a few things:

- Prince was obviously in pain & it impacted a lot of what he did on stage. For example, the riding of the Walmart cart into the arena b4 the show. We now know why.

- Being wheeled out on a hand truck during the Janelle Monae concert. We now know why.

- There is a cell phone video of him walking through an airport in London from 2004 and he CLEARLY has a limp.

- Welcome 2 America tour, he's standing on the piano singing, and when he would normally jump off. He sat down and slid off the piano.

- Watching recently released concert footage of an aftershow in L.A, when he walks out on stage..dude is limping. NOT PIMPIN' ...limping favoring his hip. Even to the point where there is a stool in the center of the stage waiting 4 him 2 sit down on.

- Riding his bike. The best exercise 4 him & that pain would be riding a bike and we saw him doing that a lot. Also riding a bike would keep him from walking as much.

- Tavis Smiley interview from B.E.T (the first one), Tavis was clowning him 4 tripping over a monitor speaker that was on stage. I personally believe that's when he injured his hip. The heels and splits, jumping around on stage did not help.

From what we now know...if U just go back and watch, the pain was right in front of us people, 4 a long time, I guess we (I) just never paid it much attention. I saw it as his sense of humour ...but he was hiding the pain obviously.

SheilaE said that dude was in a lot of pain constantly. She also said that he wouldn't tell her things & they would fall out because he knew that she would do something about it.

It was right in front of r eye's & that makes me feel some kind of way I guess...that nobody did anything about it. Not that I was searching 4 evidence of his pain, now it just stands out.

Is it me looking 4 it, or have y'all noticed it 2?

Yes...I see it too now....

I was triggered to look FOR IT, when I saw the Below mentioned Airport Walk Clip...

It was around Musicology times...

Back in the day...I had already noticed he started to look a little different at that time...

I watched that clip a number of times..and YES..he was hobbling

Bless him..he had so much courage

Looking back at the Musicology tour he was wearing the white sneakers back then. I thought that wasn’t until 2010 that he started wearing those so I was surprised to see that.

What is the recently released after show footage that he was limping?

it was up right after he passed...but since then removed. It was an entire aftershow in a club in L.A around 2009 with JBlackwell on drums, Renato on keys, Rhonda on bass and him. It was an all Jazz set that I believe he was rehearsing for Montreux. Jazz versions of "When The Lights Go Down", "Sun, Moon, Stars", Under the Cherry Moon, and even "Dreamin About U" (instrumental) and a great version of "Journey To the Center of your Heart". Show opened with a clip from "Under the Cherry Moon" movie. Probably 1 of my favorite performances of his.

There was a lot we (and others) didn't know. That's how he wanted it. Even if we had picked up on these little things that were missed I personally would have easily dismissed it as natural for someone his age, etc. The limitations didn't seem extreme considering other factors.
There is still a lot we don't know, and likely never will. I'm ok with that. I don't think he would be comfortable with everyone knowing his personal business. I can respect that. Its the least I can do for him at this point.
Rarely a day goes by that I don't think about him, mourn his passing, empathize with his struggle, miss him, wish things had not ended the way they did. But it is what it is. I'm not ok with the circumstances of his passing, but I'm ok with letting him RIP. He would want us to remember the music. He wouldn't want us to remember the pain.

On another note, is there a link to the previous parts (1-4) of this thread, or did they get deleted altogether? I think I completely missed Part 4. Maybe there was nothing new in there anyway. shrug

A question came to mind I don’t think anyone asked or answered.
Did Prince have a Medical Power of Attorney and who is listed on it? It would he certainly had one when he had hip surgery, and afterward with no spouse he definitely should had someone appointed to make care decisions if he couldn’t.

I think the only power of attorney I have seen mentioned is Phaedra for NPG / Tidal agreement.
