WTH do you think that it means?! It's a damn adage. If I wanted to imply such, I would've said it. Don't add any ludicrousness to my statement. I got the news that he died on April 21, so I don't need you to re-confirm the notion that 'he's dead', either.

Unbelievable.... cry Was there any discussion on how he reconciled the excessive use of opiods and being a JW? Good grief!!!

Prince's religious faith concerned his spirituality and belief in his creator. I don't think any of us are in any position to judge and be condescending about his commitment to his God. He was human and life's challenges included chronic pain that he dealt with the best way he knew how to do what he loved. There's nothing to reconcile.

So........how can it be verified during an autopsy that something was 'self administered'? Seems more like an opinion than something that can be verified by science.

He was human after all. Based on what Sheila E said, Prince was in a lot of pain. He was trying to keep the income flowing in; he knew a lot of people depended on him. But, now after all of us have put together everything we know (and there probably are things we still don't know), as far as we are concerned, there is nothing to reconcile. He was human after all. We still love(d) Prince and his music. We wish we could turn back the clock, but we can't.

I think my question was taken WAY too far. It was a sociological, theological, phsycological inquiry. It could have been taken rhetorical or a good discussion on the influence of faith. Let us move on....

Then it becomes all about: angles. For example: a self-administered injection, the ANGLE the needle went into the flesh, plus were there any drugs/needles/syringes around; a suicide (example only!) with a pistol, the ANGLE the gun was at, plus who had gunpowder residue on their hands, etc.

This whole thing about pain...

This weekend was my weekend for custody of my son after just recently getting divorced. I bent down into the freezer to get him some ice cream Friday night, I COUGHED and dropped to the floor. It's the 3rd time I've managed to fuck my back up doing these 2 simple things. Coughing and bending. Pain meds are the only reason I was able to tend to tend to him this weekend. I could barely get out of bed and dress myself and had to walk with a cane when I took him to his friend's birthday party.

I'm not saying it's the greatest life or an ideal situation but it's fuckng real and a lot of you people here posting from high on about how "drugs are bad" and "fuck these doctors" and "let's toughen these laws"...i doubt I would have been able to take my son anywhere this past weekend or play with him at all, to say nothing about cooking for him or going to the grocery store, if not for my medications.

As it turned out, we had a good weekend. Just took me about 20 minutes to ROLL myself out of bed, put a hot shpwer on my back and take my pills to even move. So what I'm saying is some of you should check you jedgementalism at the door. The pills are wearing off now. I dropped him back off with his mother 2 or 3 hours ago and I know tomorrow morning is gonna suck out loud trying to get up. I can already feel it.

And I know people who wish they'd never gone there. Once you get into some of those Pain Mgmt clinics you are forever suspect if you wish to change doctors or clinics. You're treated as a probable addict regardless of history and like a child, with the pill counting and drug testing. Some regular doctors may not be willing to take you as a patient anymore. It can hamstring all your medical care going forward and any trip to the ER may result in major scrutiny and suspicion. It's not necessarily something to be done lightly and without excellent/appropriate cause.

On as in the patch was stuck to his skin when they found him?

The reports I've seen said only that the Fentanyl was "self-administered" per the ME. Anyone who's seen these other reports indicating a patch, do you recall where?

I was thinking the same thing. Self-administered could be patch, injection, taking pills, smoking...I don't recall reading/hearing that they reported how it was self-adminstered.

Drugs being found 'on somebody' could mean different things, it could mean a patch on him, it could mean pills in his pocket...I don't don't recall (correct me if I'm wrong) that they stated what they found on him other than stating opoids.

The only incorrect statement in this, is that he refused because of religious beliefs. He refused because he's beaten all of the odds in his life by himself... because the show must go on. We must accept this, and not let it be a source of sadness or anger. Everything this incredible human set out to do, he did it... and well. He thought he could beat it.

My man Gio comes through in the clutch again!

My source told me that they found some anomlies in the pre op phase that led to his decision not to go through with the surgery.

.

Thanks, my Brother. Wow. Anomolies in the pre-op phase could have been multiple myeloma, or some other kind of bone/blood cancer...

Thank you for posting this. 2009, and people were discussing it then. Tavis Smiley was on Imus today and he said he knew Prince was self-medicating, but he didn't know the level of drug(s) he was using was at the maximum.

Now that is interesing to hear. So, there is some possible legitimacy to Prince beginning pain pills around 2006, with possible support of Mani's remark.

Again, regardless, this does not in any manner degrade Prince's image or legacy.

I think the general public will label possibly label him an addict from the lack of information in regards to Prince's over all health. Why Prince was self medicating or what underlying medical condition is missing. Many speculate it is the hip issue, National Enquirer takes the AIDs stance.

I think if there was an underlying illness that Prince was self medicating and it was revealed, then the general public may change their over all opinion.

Like manner, I am still in shock that Prince has passed. I try to find condolence in the fact that if Prince was suffering, that his pain and suffering is no more. I have read a lot lately, like many. I think Prince did struggle with his childhood and success. I must say, Prince did, overall, handle it very welll compared to others.

There will never be another like Prince. Many can try, but were blessed and graced to experience his music and talent.

His music and creative output will continue to live on, and in that manner, Prince does too.

Sheila E. was on TV last night. Good grief! She had not spoken to Prince in 9 months! Now she is saying she knew what was going on??? She was supposed to be one of his oldest friends! Why didn't she intervene? Now she is coming out with a song apparently about her and him. Scheduled to be reseased the day after the BET awards. Talking about opportunist!

It could mean that, or it could mean 'lesser' diseases or conditions varying from a low immune system (due to many factors ranging from very serious to minor, but still the low immune system would contraindicate hip replacement surgery), to severe osteoarthritis, to the joint being SO damaged for SO long that surgery would accomplish very little in terms of pain relief.

Yep, because you don't get sent to a Pain Clinic unless you have not been following the pain contract you signed with your primary care provider. If you don't follow the rules you are going to be treated as described above. Simple as that.

I sort of get that feeling from most of the people that have come out with "my life with Prince" type stories. He's not here to contradict so now they were the one true love of his life and they loved him more than anyone. I just leaves me with a bitter taste in my mouth about the human race, the opportunism.
