Last time Eye was in BestBuy a few months ago. They didn't have a muziq section...

How sad. Ours is down to one aisle of the top 20 releases, and then A-Z on the other side. sad

I was a lil depressed when I noticed that! Eye use to go to Best Buy all the time, the first week of a Tuesday sale to get a cd back in the day. Also whenever I visited. I would go to the muziq section to check how many prince cd's was in stock and move them to the front of the storage bin. biggrin

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

Apologies I'm coming to this late and can't trawl the thread.

I've ordered via the warner bros store, how do I get the downloads?

I'm not hugely fussed about the MP3s but I'm worried that the order might not have gone through - I have had a confirmation email through but no download link (for Clouds etc).

EDIT: Never mind, it's here now. Three downloads (wasn't I expecting 4??)

those who are not bothered about waiting 5 days or so wowhd u.k as free postage. Usualy on weekends they have 15% off deal(so should have this deal coming round again soon). i ordered both yesterday in 15% off deal. They were £7.64 each with free postage. However supermakets may have them nearly as cheap if they decide to stock both.. But will doubt you will get them cheaper in first few weeks atleast. . Last few times i preorder something from them they usual arrive saturday or monday. Yet to see there prices beaten on cd preorders and certainly better than the £10.99 thew will end up selling for on amazon.

Initial downloads were, Breakdown, Pretzelbodylogic and Clouds. Then the in the last day or two Whitecaps and U Know were made available as well. So I'm guessing you've had the first batch with Breakdown etc? Maybe drop them an email asking where U Know and Whitecaps are.

RIP sad

I prefer Clouds and U Know to the two earlier tracks off Art Official but on the whole I think I'm gonna like the Plectrum Electrum album alot more. I especially like the longer (i.e. non preview version) of Pretzelbody. Listened to the 5 songs off each album on my headphones on the bus today, starting to get excited now!

I'm enjoying the available songs.
I'll probably compile the two albums and other, previous, recent releases to get 1 mighty fine piece of work.

AOA is shaping up very nicely.

Clouds is great, love the bass and the guitar solo and spoken part is really cool.

The breakdown is fantastic, love the lasers and the heavy bass and his vocals are tremendous.

U Know, killer groove great, great chorus again vocals are fantastic, probably my favorite song on the album so far.

Breakfast. This song took me a few listens to full appreciate, but now it's got that groove that gives me a feeling of deep satisfaction.

Looking to be at least as good as 3121 at the minute.

Even after a 4 year break the series of mediocre album releases continues. So no money from me, sorry.

Yeah.
It's pretty dificult, having done so much music, to push that extra.
It's something that's 'becoming' of him as it is of others like Paul McCartney who is also deeply lyrically challenged of a day (again because of the sheer expanse and volume of back-catalogue) but has lately been 'getting it' from somewhere, noticably in a song 'Early Days' where he's not just rhyming off some past scenario but also acknowledging his age in a creative way.
Prince may have this kind of 'block' to get around as well.
It's not 'becoming' of him to try to be the sex-god and although everybody blames his religion, I don't see that his most religiously-involved album of his JW period was anything but a triumph, lyrically, musically and all elsewise.

What he had on 'The Rainbow Children' was, that essential Prince ingredient, which is A TRIP.
When you got a trip on, the journey has many signposts and writ large on each of them are the words to songs.

However, it's worth noting that the contemporary reaction to The Rainbow Children (including on this board) wasn't that favourable and it was the album that may have had the lowest profile of his career, with scarce review coverage.
This may have had its own fallout in terms of seeing it as a direction but I think nowadays almost everybody would agree that getting wrapped up like that in concepts (his religious research of the time) was incredibly fertile for everything from sounds, lyrics, effects, attitude.

I also think he was anti-media at the time and not at pains to TRY to be 'relevant' and this is a key point because Prince's thing is never to kowtow to fashion but to lead.
In that respect, he's still intact but, as I say, a new TRIP and all of its attendant buzz would benefit him greatly.

Prince is still an incredible musician/performer/song writer.

The main issue I have with him these days are his lyrics.

He doesn't have anything interesting and clever to say anymore.

Take the sex talk and cussing out and we are left with cheesy babble.

I can still enjoy it for what it is but..

Clouds is a great example, interesting musically, vocals are nice. But the lyrics?

Shockingly juvenile and dumb.

wink

I was wondering if these new Prince albums will be in a wrecka stow or not? I've been looking and only seen it ordered via online. I'm hoping to purchase them at a store, for I can listen to them on my birthday (Sept 30th), but if it's online only, then I guess I gotta go with amazon.com.

Does anyone know anything on a US vinyl release yet? I went to my local record store to ask them (they are big Prince fans) and they said that they didn't know if it would be released on vinyl (in US) yet.

I admit the material sounds a lot better than what he's put out this era. But none of the songs grab me and he's not arranging like he use to. If there are some great arrangements with killer instrumental work I'll buy the CD's
