I don't really get these people "breaking up" with P as if he was their boyfriend... My interest may fade but I wouldn't know how to "break up" with an artist, let alone dramatically like that, this is silly... Allan Smithee's album dates back from 2009 but IDK what month. I guess if it was after the song was streamed it could be legal even though IDK if covers are free for songs that were only aired or streamed as they are for songs that received proper release (I guess there's no law about that and it would need to be ruled by a judge). This thread is incredible, really. Once again, Prince doesn't hate his fans, Prince hates people who infringe his rights as an artist. I'm not saying his suit is proportioned, but it's certainly better than not suing. I guess you'd love that someone stole you, not your money, but something much more precious than that: your artistic creations. | |

Not only are they not making a profit--they're losing money with the expenses of having the sites and all.
As to luvsexy4all--all right, let's accept that he knows what he's doing. So, he's threatening to ruin the lives of people who have not really harmed him in anyway and are motivated by a love of his music and a feeling of community with others who also love it, and he knows it. That just seems to be more reason to be disappointed in his behavior. | |

If Prince actually follows through with suing for monetary damages at $1 million per defendant, he'll make more money from NOT releasing the bootlegged material himself than he would if he released it.

Is it true that he's only going after sites that share freely rather than those that are charging?
And...if he's suing and stuff does that mean he's about to release something? Maybe more of an indication that he is than any twitter or whatever?
Guess technically it's illegal so he's free to sue, it is his intellectual property etc, and yes, he should release it all and make stacks, but since when has that made a difference? Difficult one. But like I've said elsewhere, in the past year we've had serpangate, le petit princegate and more recently astral travelling until 01/07/14 (is that how u guys write it)gate...but we'll be back, and we'll lap it up cos that's what we do...
