You're completely shady. When time will come to honor his legacy your voice will nowhere be heard and you'll be proven wrong. You have no idea what you're talking about.

What's really sad is he keeps doing these things to his fans and yes bootleggers are fans too and fans keep forgiving this dude just thinking the next song will be a gem. The shit never changes and the music is getting worse. Quite frankly, the Controversy concert is the best footage/music ive seen from him in years.

This is sad. On one hand he's protecting an image but soon nobody is gonna recognize the image he's protecting. This Shit is getting old. Bootlegs been around before him & they'll be around after him. He worries more about bootlegs than putting out GOOD music. Is it cause a controversy show is better than a welcome 2 America one?

Idk man. I think he truly has nobody but his music...and maybe Larry graham but that isn't saying much.

Its hard to sue the labels because they are out of the country. The laws in other countries are different then the us about bootlegging.

As for this i kinda have a mix feeling.

I do agree with him sueing because it is his music.

I do not agree with it being sites disturbuting the music free.

Sueing for a million for lost profits and damages?

He is not releasing the music so he is not losing anything.

And what kind of damages?

Someone mentions ebay and the sellers on there. I could see that. The selling of the physicals and making money off of his product makes sense.

Stop suing fans/bootleggers. Get REAL Minneapolis musicians. Rehearse & record for a year. Drop an album (WITH GOOD MUSIC) randomly AND tour. No twitter. No bs cryptic messages. No shitty half ass websites.

I think he should just start releasing shit from the vault... yes i know that's been said a million times. But, people have been, and will be bootlegging for years. He's kept the shit under wraps for so long! he could really make a lot off of it by now.

I always wondered this too... say a famous artist covered a bootleg joint. What would happen? say an artist like... idk Jack white, MGMT, Kanye etc. Decided to cover the 14 minute version of Computer Blue live or sing Possessed or Dance With The Devil. Weird thing to thaink about! but what if they performed one of those songs live? would Prince sue?

So, is he suing the people who were making money selling bootlegs on Amazon, or just the fans that buy all the released material and share the bootlegs for free with other fans that buy all the released material?

IDK about performing them live, but if they tried to release it he could sue, and he'd win. Whereas anyone can cover a song without permission as long as they pay royalties and don't alter the arrangement in a meaningful way, they can only do so if the song has been released. If I understand the law correctly, unreleased songs are protected from this and can't be covered without permission.

wink

That said, Elvis Costello performed Moonbeam Levels at that tribute a while back. IDK if he had permission or not.

He probably knows because he performed that snippet of "Moonbeam Levels" live soon after the Costello performance.

Another lawsuit once again....????????

is this a joke, what a black day in Prince history.

Proven once again: Prince is an a*sehole. mad sad sad sad

Another reason for me to quit the Prince world, his new music sucks anyway.

2014 will be big - big of disappointments and more crap-music from him,

just like in 2013.... just wait and see. mad sad sad sad

Bye. And FU Prince. finger

This lawsuit is a waste of time.In this day and age,if something is out there, you should just let it be.Prince's music has been heavily bootlegged since the 80s.There's no point in trying to stop it now lol Let the fans enjoy it,trade it and have fun with it.

(not directly serious but just a thought)

Can you countersue?

For providing a basis/platform for indirect income over the years. You can argue (succesfully) that a large portion of his income over the last 20 years found his basis in these recordings.

To me, this has put the final nail in the coffin for me, regarding Prince!! IF there ever is a UK Tour and IF he ever does Glastonbury(which is fairly near where I live), I couldnt be assed-up bothered to get tickets, like I used to years ago, when I literally scrambled and moved Hell and high water to get tickets!! The setlists of his 3rdEyeShit gigs have all be the same and the performances have all been shitty, sub-standard, crap at the most!! He looks fucking stupid at his age, with his big old fake Afro, being backed by 3 young 30-something female amatuer "musicians"(and I use that term loosely!!), trying OH SO TOO HARD to still stay relevant in todays music!!

What are the fans supposed to upload and share with one another now?? Purple Rain?? Kiss?? Little Red Corvette?? 1999?? lol lol lol lol lol

finger finger finger finger PRINCE!!!!!

er

I really really fail to see why everybody is getting so upset about this. Y'all are acting like a bunch of spoiled kids whose favorite toy (that you weren't supposed to play with anyway) is being taken away.Prince has been doing this for years. Everybody who's offering bootlegs can expect something like this. Paid or free makes no difference. It's illegal and Prince has never made it a secret how he feels about that. Say whatever you want about it, but stop acting as if it comes as a surprise! And then folks go on to complain about his new music being no good and his live shows suck. Then why would you want a bootleg of it anyway?
